I didn't need to be told twice. I walked closer to the largest of the couches- though this one looked more like a sofa -and threw myself against it. Lying flat on my back I waited for my meal. I watched as EVP walked towards the armrest of one of the couches.
A table laid by the side with a cordless telephone. It was the color white and it actually looked like an old cellphone with buttons and all. She lifted it out of place and pressed a button before placing it on her ears.
"Are you at the hotel?" She asked, I thought it was rude. What happened to hello?
The person on the other said must have given an affirmative for she went on to say, "I need food." She paused as the person spoke.
"No, real food!" She insisted frowning. I almost laughed at the fact that maybe whoever was at the line mentioned blood.
"I got a guest." She said she didn't seem too happy about giving out the information.
She turned to me, "What would you like?"
I was a little speechless at the unexpected attention. "I-I don't know. Whatever's available." I managed to mutter.
"Whatever's available." She repeated and I flinched. I hadn't expected her to use my exact words.
She paused for about a couple of milliseconds before bringing the phone down with a stiff noise. "Someone should be here in a few minutes. If you need anything from me you're going to have to wait till evening. If it can't wait use the telephone by simply dialing on any number."
She didn't bother waiting for a response, instead, she turned on her heel and left without a backward glance whereas my eyes didn't leave her back until I could see her no more.
I shifted my gaze to the ceiling, it was painted grey with a huge chandelier hanging off the middle. The walls were painted white with a little bit of grey on the sides. The couches were really soft and the color was between white and cream. I couldn't say for sure, I guess I was that tired.
I felt my eyes began to close as I laid on the couch and I stood up with a jerk. I figured if I sat upright I would be able to stay awake long enough for my meal to arrive. I had barely sat up for thirty seconds when I laid back down again. My back was killing me.
I must have slept off for the next thing I heard was, "Hello, hey!" Followed by vigorous shaking.
My eyes flung open to find a face just inches from my own."Ahhh!" I helped, I have been doing a lot of that lately.
"Sorry," he said and moved away quickly. "I didn't mean to startle you." He was older than I thought when he was up close, shorter too.
I sat up, "It's no biggie." I replied, rubbing my eyes with the hope that it would clear away my sleepiness.
I opened my eyes and my gaze fell on… I didn't know what to call him so I asked, "I am Bella. What's your name?" I was surprised, I wasn't the greatest with strangers but for some reason, he seemed like I could talk to him forever. Maybe it was his round face or the fact that he had a cute mustache that I thought made me think of some cartoon character.
"Nice to meet you Bella, you can call me Berg." He stretched out his hand and I took it without thinking. It was soft. "I wasn't sure what you wanted so I brought everything I could get my hands on." His round face broke into a smile and I felt like someone gave me a present, I found myself smiling back.
He looked down and I followed his gaze finally noticing the table that stood less than a feet away from him. He opened a covered bowl to reveal grapes. Another held strawberries and the last one held apples. There was still a covered plate left.
"I hope you like fruits." I could only nod at his words as my mouth began to water. " And here we have…" He started and made to open the last covered item. "Muffin Tin Omelets with Prosciutto, Feta, and Spinach. Well, as least that's what the cook said." He finished with a chuckle.
I nodded some more at the end of his words. I didn't care for his words, I simply understood that this was a good meal. "Thank you so much!" I managed to say before I began attacking the meal like some savage animal.
I picked up my cutlery unsure of where to start. I decided that I might as well get rid of the omelets. There was no way I could finish everything on the table but I knew I could always save the fruits for later. I drew the omelets closer and using the knife, I cut a slice of it. They were shaped like muffins and they smelt delicious. I hoped they would taste just as good. I wasn't disappointed.
"Uhmmm, this is good. This is really good." I took another bite. "Do join me." I offered, realizing I couldn't eat this goodness alone.
"Nah, it's too early for me but thank you. I'm glad everything is to your liking." I would have said something but my mouth was full. "Where is Callidora? The woman that called me."
I swallowed, "Her bedroom I think. She went in there as soon as the call was over. I said pointing to the door she had gone through.
"Oh I see," he replied as his face fell. "I guess I'll leave you to your meal. Somebody else would come pick up the dishes." He said and made to leave.
"It was really nice to meet you Berg." I called out to his back.
He turned just as he reached the door. "Same here Bella. Enjoy your meal." He stepped out and the door closed behind him.
