Chapter 3: A Greater Evil

'What are you doing here?', he asked with the same shocked expression on his face.

'I'm not here to forgive you', I found myself saying. I never realized just how mad I was at Harper until I found him standing before me.

He could've put a stop to this. He could've been the one to stop those guards from dragging me into the pit of humiliation. He was, after all, a king. He should've been the one to save me that night. But I haven't heard anything from him since.

'I wouldn't be so presumptuous to think that', he said as his face dropped at the callous nature of my words. 'We need to talk.'

Before Harper could pull me aside, Nikolina was quick to put her hand on his arm. 'We need to see the rest of our guests, sweetheart', she said with a hint of warning to her voice before she flashed me a confident glance.
