Flirting attempts

"Princess Francine, Prince Jamie is here to see you. Shall I send him in?" The royal maid uttered.

"Yes, please."

The maid dismissed herself and soon after a couple of minutes, Jamie showed up at my doorstep- by that, I meant, in my room.

"Whoa," He whistled. "Someone looks beautiful today, what's the occasion?"

"Well, do I need an occasion to always look beautiful, Jamie?" I raised an eyebrow, smirking.

He plopped down on the bed. "Nah, you always look beautiful, whether you try it or not."

"What is with the sudden flirting and language change? Have you been talking to commoners, lately?"

He frowned. "Are commoners the only ones allowed to talk like that?"

I turned to face him. "Answer the question."

Without missing a beat, he said, "Just thought you might need a little practice, now that you are going to be Charlie Robinson for less than a year."

"How-?"

He raised his finger, cutting my speech off. "Samuel filled me in."

"Oh. So does that include constant flirting, too?"

He smirked, mischievously. "Do you want it to?"

Jamie and Samuel were quite alike. They both loved to flirt with ladies and I may have mentioned this once, that princesses always attended our parties for Samuel only. Well, you can add Jamie's name on that list too.

Whenever Jamie met with commoners, he would pick on some of their qualities or the way they talked or flirted with others and then experimented on me. This happened to be one of those times. Although, the flirting was a new one.

I raised my hand. "Please don't, I have standards."

He clutched his heart, faking a hurt. "Ouch, lady. That was harsh! I may not be able to recover from that."

"You do not have to. From what I know, you can stay like this forever."

He smiled, his eyes lighting up in excitement. "Adorable?"

"Dead."

"Ah. come on, where are we even going?"

"That is not the question. The question is: Why are we going?"

I stopped in my tracks and turned on my heel to face the two idiots whom I recognized as Samuel and Jamie.

"Both of these questions are irrelevant when I've already answered them."

Samuel snorted. " Yeah, 'you'll see' is definitely considered to be an answer. You know, if we were in school, you would not even have scored a zero for this."

Jamie gasped. "So, she would have gotten negative marking?!"

"Yes. Negative marking. My straight-A, the genius sister would get negative marking."

"Why are we talking about school when all three of us are homeschooled kids?" I asked, crossing my arms and throwing a glare to both of them.

Jamie shrugged. "I don't know about the two of you, but I'm definitely not homeschooled. So, you should rather speak for yourselves."

I smirked. "Which school are we talking about, Jamie? The one that you just made up in front of the ladies so they thought that you had an 'actual' education?"

"CSST did exist, okay?!" Jamie defended.

"What was the full form, again?" Samuel asked, pretending to remember the made-up name.

"Cordonia School of Science and Technology," Jamie uttered confidently as if he had rehearsed it a million times over.

"Ah, Cordonia. I remember Cordonia. Hey, Princess Beautiful?"

"Yes, Prince Charming?"

"Wasn't Cordonia the kingdom where the book 'The Royal Romance' was located. Like, wasn't it the location? The waitress meets the Prince of Cordonia and has to win his heart and whatnot?"

Jamie's eyes widened in horror. He hadn't realized that we knew about the location being made-up and taken from a book. He thought he could fool us as he did with the rest of the world, but it was us.

His best friends.

"W-What are you two talking about? Cordonia is real and there is no such book named 'The Royal Romance'. Plus, when did you two start reading romances?"

"That is not important, Lorenzo. What's important is the fact that you realize that you should not be lying to us. We know you better than that." Samuel patted his shoulder, laughing.

"Or better yet, stop lying. 'Tis not bad to be homeschooled. We're smarter than the usual school students, anyways."

Jamie sighed, hanging his head low. "Guess you're right. People forget that things are lies when they make it sound like the truth. It's like you start believing it yourself. You get what I mean?"

"Of course." Samuel and I said in unison.

Jamie opened his mouth to tell something but quickly closed it, shaking his head. Samuel and I noticed it at the same time.

"What's wrong?" We asked in unison.

"Nothing."

"Nothing?"

"Okay, this is annoying."

Samuel came to stand beside me, so both of us were facing the castle and him.

"This," He pointed us. "Saying the same things at the same time. It makes you sound like twins."

Samuel and I burst out laughing. Jamie stared at us in confusion, blinking his eyes a couple of times at our antics. He had no idea that Charlie thought the exact same thing the moment we met.

"What is so funny? Did I say something weird?"

"No...Just...a...reminder..of-" I uttered between my laughter.

"Reminder of...?" Jamie pressed.

"C-Charlie...Hahaha...she...ha..thought...haha...the...haha..." and Samuel rolled down on the ground, clutching his stomach. I was barely standing, myself while all Jamie did was stare at us who were looking like idiots in the middle of the palace's pathway. But soon, Jamie caught what Samuel and I were saying.

"She thought it was weird, too?"

"Yes," I uttered, once I calmed myself down. Samuel quickly got on his feet and started marching forwards. After a couple of minutes, he turned back.

"Aren't you guys coming?"
