Three

Lisa walked through a hallway of what she can call, madness. A lot of people have been gossiping about the vacation that the 'dragon' will have, and some of their words are not pleasant. She was about to slap one of the grasshoppers out of her cubicle when she heard her say, "She deserve that, she has been working her entire life."

Leaving the carpetted floor, she followed the way to the office of the CEO and ignored the girl. There are folders on her hands and a bag of laptop on the other. She fixed her eyeglasses before she knocked on her glass door and one of the guards inside opened it for her.

The girl who is sitting on a huge chair in front of a glass table and a two monitor PC, looked at her. She clasped her hands together and leaned her chin to it, "You ready?"

"Always." The lady who owned a glass plaque saying CEO answered.

"Don't be so confident." Lisa answered as she set her things down on a table in a mini lounge in front of the CEO; she can tell that she is ready, but since they have been friend for years, she thinks that she's also nervous.

The phone on the night stand near Lisa rang, she pressed the speaker phone button and let the person on other line talk, "Applicant is here."

"Bring him in." Lisa's voice is the same, dull and emotionless. She dropped the call and started arranging the folders in front of her.

The CEO stood up, putting her hands on her pocket and walked to Lisa. She sat on a couch  in front of her and crossed her legs, "If my company falls down because of you, you will fall down with it, okay?"

"If you fall down first, this company would be mine. Why bother?"

They smirked at each other.

Their guards sighed, this always scares them. They do not know when these two would start ripping each others faces or when they would start stabbing each others eyes with pen. A lot of people have also thought about these two having hidden issues for themselves, but they were always wrong.

Her name is Rebecca Liner, the owner of this successful insurance company. She is the heir of all of the Liners' wealth and she is also considered as the most tough girl you will ever meet.

Lisa, on the other hand, is her friend. She is as intelligent and as dangerous as Rebecca, their only difference is their humour. One can always tell that Lisa was just kidding while Rebecca would be the exact opposite.

"Seriously, Bec, be careful." Rebecca just smiled at her and looked at the view beside them, Lisa sighed.

"M'ses." one of the guard signalled them that the applicant is already at the door.

Lisa and Rebecca stood up, the guards opened the door for him, as Rebecca walked to the vegetable water dispenser at one corner of the room. She did not really like the taste of it but for her, it looks awesome on ones office.

"Mr. Castillo, pleased to meet you again." she smiled at him. His expression should express nirvana, but his face was not showing them any excitement, he was suspicious. Of course, he was expecting someone to hire him but Lisa did not even asked him a lot of questions, so he has a lot of questions for her instead.

"What is this?" he was not able to appreciate the invitation he received from Lisa, "Why did you called me back?"

"You said you needed a job." she walked slowly near him, "I am just giving you a favor."

"Really?" he chuckled bitterly.

"Yes." Rebecca answered as she walked to her desk with a cup of liquid on her hand, "I heard you had a good title of being an expert on bounty hunting." She put it down and put both of her hands on the pocket of her coat.

She walked to him, "I do not need those weak people who know just how to fight, and kill. I need your... brain." she paused and tapped her forehead gently.

"So you want the job, or not." Lisa asked walking away from them.

Diego is right, there is something wrong from the moment he received the call last night. He was a prisoner but he also has the brain of a trained assassin.

"I will not work as a bounty hunter anymore. I am done long time ago." before he could leave the room, he was blocked by two men, "Let me out."

"Don't worry hon, you will just track them. We are doing the hunting part for you." Rebecca took her cup again and walked to the other side of her office, appreciating the view, "Or if you like, you may kill both of them and walk out of here."

"Why me?" he turned to look back at the girls trying to underestimate him, "Why can't you just find another bounty hunter out there?"

"Let us say you are my favorite." Rebecca took a sip on her cup while her other hand is still on her pocket. Thoughts about throwing up and spitting out the liquid back to the cup floated in her mind, it tasted like tea, which she hates.

"No." he was about to turn his head to fight his way out, but Lisa opened a folder to show him a photo which has a smiling girl on it. On her hand was a tray full of soiled plate and cups. It was just taken, he is sure of it.

"Get her out of this."

"We need a leverage to tell you that we are serious about this business. It is not just yours, but it is ours. Now," Rebecca did not even turned to face him while she was talking, "If you say yes, she will be free. If you say no, well... you know what will happen."

"You are far more worst than that assasin that I killed." Diego growled, looking at the stilled photo of his ex-girlfriend.

"You don't know us. Don't judge." Lisa chuckled as she closed the folder where the photo is kept, "So?"

"You have already threatened me. What is the use of saying no?" this is his chance of putting his hands on his pocket, not to impress, but to hide his trembling hands.

"Great, now here is your contract. Sign it and you will be off." Lisa opened another folder, placed a pen on top and walked away from it, giving Becca a look.

Diego is mentally cursing at what he decided to do, he thought this would be just a negotiation of him saying no, just like how he ended some of his missions before, but these two stretched their efforts to the hilt. They know what they are doing, that is for sure.

He sat on the couch and read the contract that he was about to sign, "So, I will hunt one person for you? Great, I should get double the price since you forced me." he humored.

Rebecca sat in front of him and looked at Lisa, "Triple it if we succeed. Double if failed, but your head is mine."

Diego shook his head with a wide grin as he scanned deeper on the paper. He can say that this girl in front of her is the head of it all, who would have doubt. She's wearing a read lipstick and her tongue is as sharp as a double bladed sword, "Write that down. Make sure you have a signature." he sassed back, surprisingly, she smiled wider than usual and looked at Lisa.

"He is fiery." she murmured and took the paper and pen from him, "Should I put my head here as your reward?"

"You are a psychopath."

"Everybody says that, so, I'll take it as a compliment." she murmured as she writes her way to the paper, making sure that everything is written down. She gave it back to him and let him sign it.

Honestly, he have already dealt with these types of people before, but he never felt the hottest temperature of his blood boiling untilvnow. He should have let himself died of hunger than letting her ex-girlfriend get dragged to this mess.

"So, we are all set, Mr. Castillo. We will pick you up at seven in the morning," Lisa stopped talking when she looked back at him, "Scratch that, make it six. You need to be groomed."

"What am I? A puppy?" he rolled his eyes.

"Yes, you look like one." Becca stood up, as she murmured on the way to her desk, "Glad you said it, I've been thinking about that since you came."

Diego stood up and walked to the door where both of the guards who gladly opened it for him, "I heard that."

"Congratulations!" she sassed back as he left opening some folders on her desk.

"Well I could use some punching bag when this is done." Lisa started cleaning up her things.

"He is trickier than I anticipated."

Diego exited the building as soon as he got out of the office. He ran as fast as he can, passing the park where he rested his feet yesterday and to a street full of people gathering for nothing but food.

His legs automatically turned and turned, as if there was a GPS attached to it as if it was following a map to somewhere important. He huffed and ran another three blocks before stopping in front of a cafe where there are lot of people entering the shop.

It is getting hotter and hotter as the sun reach the highest point in the sky, but her skin still shines the same. Her smile never faded on her face, it is true, they just took the photo.

He looked across the street where a black car is getting ready to get out of its place. It must be them, he thought after remembering the way the photo was taken. Somehow, he's relieved that she's safe but on the back of his mind, he would like to drag her out of there and run as fast as they can but he couldn't. He would not risk her safety just because he had a silly thought.
