Five

No matter how many times Diego could think how he got here from the first place, he could not point out how he ended up working as a hunter again, well technically, a human hunter. He told himself once that he would not fall on this type of life again but here he is, waiting for the girl to drop the information he needed, to find whoever she wanted him to find.

Squinting his eyes, he rolled on the other side of the bed, appreciating the wonderful view of gulf outside big glass sliding window, forgetting everything for a moment. It is already morning, which means that the day he had not been waiting for, has arrived.

"You awake?"

Diego snapped his head to the door when a familiar voice of a lady echoed the entire room, she was wearing a white bathrobe and her hair was wrapped with a white towel, just like that of a whipped cream.

"Atleast knock." he sat up pulling the sheets closer to his body.

"You are the one who's sleeping on my house. You should have shirt on." she crossed her arms on her chest and started dragging her feet to the window where he was looking before.

"Well I'm sorry." he told her.

Becca did not looked back at him, though he was wearing a white pajama, she still felt like he's totally naked. He, on the other hand, walked to a closet beside his bed and grabbed a gray shirt.

When he finished slipping it on, "So, are we getting started?"

"What do you like? Cereal or pancakes? Oats maybe?" she turned, leaning her back on the glass, finally looking at him.

"We having breakfast?" he pointed to himself and to her.

"I don't wanna work with my tummies empty. We'll be giving you info's while eating." she pushed herself off the glass and proceeded to get out of his room.

"Okay... pancakes." he answered, tormented with his confused thoughts—Is she acting nice? Or she is going to poison me?

She left him in his room without replying if she copied his choice or not, but he followed seconds after her.

They walked to the kitchen, where there are papers and three laptops scattered on a long wooden table with tall chairs beside it.

Diego put his hands on the pocket of his pants and stood there looking at the photos pinned on a brown board standing at the end of the table, all of it has the same face shown. He presumed that this is the guy that this girl has been trying to find, but he still inquired.

"This is your man?" he shook his head towards the direction where the board was standing.

Becca hummed, obviously busy on grabbing some things on a cabinet above her head. One of those says 'Instant pancake mix', and the other says 'maple'. She grabbed some utensils, producing some metal clicking noise, making Diego look at her.

He did not bother sassing her with the way she tries to reach the highest part of the cabinet to get the metal bowl, seeing how she was biting her lower lip while doing it, she is being very passionate about it, he just proceeded to sit, facing her.

"You might want to check the system," she got back to the counter and poured the powdered thing on the bowl, "See if there is something that you might do to help me, since you are being an asshole now."

"What did I do?" he asked when he sat straight and lean both of his hands on the table.

"You think I didn't heard you snicker?" she looked at him with daggers on her eyes.

For him, all girls behave like this, not that he had live with all kinds of girls in the world, but when they are hungry, they become the most sensitive human you have ever met. He remembers that one time when his ex threw a flipflop at him when he was not able to buy her pizza.

That thought made him smile, He looked away from her, and pulled one of the laptop in front of him and started typing.

They did not talked for a good couple of moments. Becca proceeded on making the batter and frying them on a flat pan that she bought last week after hearing that it is non-stick. It was along with the other things that she did not need.

"His name is Alexis Madej, a person known for leading a drug cartel. He was also imprisoned back then for being a bondsman between an assassin and son who would like to kill his daddy..." Diego talked after seeing the records that she have been staring at all night, "Neat. Why do you want to find him? Having difficulties on finding an assassin to kill your enemy?"

"That's none of your business." she smiled bitterly, pouring coffee on two cups resting on a tray together with the two plates of pancakes beautifully stacked together.

"Actually, it is." he insisted, standing up to walk to her.

"Well don't bother." she turned back to him and let him grab the tray from the counter and bring it to the table.

She took another container from the cabinet with two separate things on it—sugar and cream— and a bottle of maple syrup.

"Which one is yours?" looking at the two plates in front of him, he noticed that one of them only had three pancakes whilst the other one have four.

"Guess."

He scoffed, Of course.

"So, you found any interesting things about that guy." she sat in front of him. She pulled one of the plate off the tray and proceeded to pour the maple syrup on top.

Diego grabbed the container that she set down and started steering his coffee, "Have you tried checking this address?" he turned the laptop to show her an address.

"Yeah, he is not there. Just some old rat shit and furnitures." she munched the pancakes in her mouth, "This is so good." she murmured.

"You think he's still in the country?" he put his coffee aside and started typing things.

"Fifty fifty, we tried using his face if there would be some match but no— Both his name and his credit card are useless. I don't have the access to the other countries yet, so I can't check, sorry."

"Yet?" he scoffed, she did not answered.

Diego tried the options that he knew might work but, she is right, this person have hidden his identity pretty good. He stepped away from the laptop and put both of his hands on his hips, he turned to look at the board and he noticed something.

There was a photo on the top right corner of the board showing the guy with his cap on and a brief case on hand. On the other one, he noticed that there is a silver watch resting on his wrist. There is another angle of that photo which he can see a familiar intricate design, "Can you enhance that photo?"

Becca turned to looked at the board and see what he was pertaining to, "Yeah, I can."

She grabbed another laptop and started typing away, "What do you want to see?"

"The watch." he walked to her side and looked at what she was doing.

For the first time, he felt like she is starting to open up. Hollow, one might say, but he noticed how she answers him without any sarcasm and an eyeroll, things he expected to receive  on the way here.

"Here you go." she zoomed in on the watched which had the design of golden dragon on it. The numbers are black but the hands of the watch are white, there was also a signature near the number six, which he recognized instantly, confirming his guess.

"I know where that watch was made." he murmured, loud enough for her to hear.

"Where?"

"I'm not telling you, I am going alone." he left her in the kitchen and ran back to his room grabbing his jeans and his coat.

"Where are you going?" he can hear Becca's voice but he continued on ridding himself with his pajama, replacing it with jeans.

Diego got out of the room as soon as he slipped his shoes on, "I am not letting you near him."

"I don't need your permission on meeting someone." Becca walked in front of him together with four guards standing still behind her, "Remember when I told you, we are the one who will hunt them down?"

"He is an old man, Rebecca. I don't want you laying your hands on him." he almost growled.

She casually removed the towel on her head and pressed her hair in between, "Oh, but I can do anything to your ex?"

There he thought that their relationship was getting better, but he's wrong.

She laughed leaving him standing in front of the four. She knows he could beat them up to death without breaking any bones on his end, but the threat she made did her a favor of making sure that he will stand still.

"You touch his hair, you're dead!" he yelled clutching his knuckles close.

She did not replied again.

"Kindly go back to your room and wait for her to get ready." one of the guards talked.
