Chapter 146: S2 - Broadcasting Live
Everyone in the living room was mesmerized by the movements of the eight prestigious students. The two who shone the brightest in their team were Michiko Keiko and Tennouji Mari.
Of course, the audience didn't forget about the three boys on each team. Instead, they paid as much attention to them as to their team leaders. They were like the knights fighting for their princesses.
"Don't you think those three boys on Keiko's team are pretty handsome?" Kaori brought up this discussion to the three males who lived with her. She pointed out a beautiful, flowery boy with green hair and emerald green eyes that could make the hearts of girls everywhere swoon, a humble and graceful boy with glasses who had dark brown hair and brown eyes which seemed very caring and appealing, and lastly, a handsome boy with dirty blonde hair and fierce brown eyes that gave off the aloof yet intelligent vibe. These three boys were none other than the Sweets Princes, famous in the media for their looks and appearance.
As Kenji looked at the three boys on his daughter's team, his eyes glued onto one of them. The boy he focused on was carving out chocolate to make a humanoid figure.
'It's been a while since I've seen *him*... I wonder if that mother of his is still trying to push him to be a doctor,' Kenji pondered.
"Ha! I've seen better…" Haruto muttered, pouting his face in disapproval.
"I told her that when they caught a break, she should invite them over," Kaori said, remembering the last phone conversation she had with Keiko. She remembered how startled the young girl was with her *serious* questions that she chuckled at the thought of it.
"Why? You think they're gonna get together?" Eiji chimed in, furrowing his eyebrows.
"Who knows? Maybe they might, hehehe…" his mother put on a cheeky smile as they watched the competition.
Kenji didn't like the thought of his daughter dating. If anything, she was still too young to be dating! When he talked to Keiko that one time with Kaori, he was baffled when he heard that she was the only girl on the team!
'Hmph. They better not be making any moves on my precious daughter!'

Ten hours passed, and it was around 5:30. There was still one more hour to go until the end of the final round.
It had been a long time, but each member of the Michiko family kept watch on every movement Keiko and her teammates made. They ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the table, but their eyes were still glued to the competition.
["It is now 5:30 P.M! It's been a long 9 hours so far and there's only 1 hour left. Each part is being finished up—Sugar sculptures, chocolate sculptures, petit gateau, and the teams' entremets,"] the student commentator spoke through the microphone, signaling that the final round was closing.
Each camera focused on each team's members, who were finishing their separate pieces until they were ready and gathered around a circular table where they'd set up their cake.
As Team Tennouji gathered around their table, they placed each of their components onto their base and worked from there.
Their team moved rather quickly, directing each other on where to put each of their pieces. In a way, their teamwork was simple yet elegant.
On the other end, it was apparent to the eyes of those watching that Team Michiko didn't need to say anything to one another as they started assembling their cake. They knew how every element would be placed on their final cake so that people could see that they practiced so much to the point where their movements became almost telepathic.
They didn't rush to put things together, but they didn't waste any unnecessary movements to assemble it either.
As Team Michiko assembled their cake, Team Tennouji backed away from theirs.
["It's complete,"] Team Tennouji announced calmly after exhaling in relief. This was it. Their dream cake was finally made.
On their table, the cameras panned to the beautiful cake they'd created. It had a glossy black and white checkerboard base that shined with white chocolate tulip garnishes and pearl candies. Just on top of it were the white entremet and the gorgeous white candied flower that appealed to the eyes of the audience. It was a large 1ft tall chrysanthemum flower that bloomed beautifully as the centerpiece, but it appeared as if the large flower was at an angle, pointing directly at the cameras. Just behind it were the white chocolate doors that opened up behind it and a shiny crescent moon about 1.5ft tall.
The audience didn't have any other words to describe their cake other than just—
["Beautiful… It looks so mysterious that I can see the luminescence,"] the MC spoke into the microphone as the crowd went silent.
Truthfully, it was impressive. Its maturity and grace drew people's eyes in like the flower was floating in mid-air.
—But it didn't faze Keiko and her team, who kept going. They only worried about themselves, not the watchful eyes of the nation observing each movement they made.
They placed a large chocolate Angel sculpture in the center of their carefully constructed cake.
And to add the final touch to their cake, glowing lights suddenly appeared out of nowhere and attached themselves to their cake. It elevated the cake to give it a mystical shine. It was almost as if it was magic.
"Wow! How did they do that?!" Eiji actively inquired with his mouth wide open in shock.
"That can't be real! Did Keiko become a magician without us knowing?!" Haruto was also surprised by the ever-alluring, magical cake.
From the sound of it, it seemed that even the live audience was bewildered by this magic-like technique.
["H-how is that p-possible?!"]
["It's glowing? How did they manage to do that?!"]
["W-wow…"]
["Team Michiko is done with their cake,"] Michiko Keiko spoke up, signalizing that their cake was complete. But by how no one reacted as the people's mouths remained agape, the large room was filled entirely with absolute silence as they stared at the cake made by them.
Even her family had no idea how to react to the cake shown to them on the TV screen.
The base was what Keiko was in charge of. It was a genoise cake designed with white chocolate feathers and white cotton candy clouds. It gave the impression of "Heaven," leading up to the components that her teammates added.
On top of her base was a shimmering gold staircase that glowed with bright sparkles from within, enthralling the viewers to follow that path. It was in the shape of a helix (about 3ft tall) that was being held by large white spiral pillars used for the foundation to hold the staircase in place. At the end of that stairway was a small door at the top that glowed a bright color due to some sorcery that gave it this illusion. Additionally, candy butterflies of different sizes were placed around the stairway and fastened on that pathway. Each was precisely placed on the staircase for people to see that the butterflies were climbing up the stairs and towards that open door that shined ever so brightly. Along that stairway were different-sized white pearls representing a blockage in the pathway.
On some of the smaller pillars that weren't used as a foundation to fasten the stairway in place, mini cakes of different types and colors were used to elevate the white and gold theme of the cake.
Lastly, the Angel.
The white chocolate angel, who was about 2ft tall and took the effort of all members to place in the middle, sat on a gold stand made out of white chocolate. The angel's wings were large and long, which drew the eyes towards the center to allure the audience. She wore a flowy white dress, and the staircase moderately covered her torso she stood behind. Her hair was also sculpted to flow like air blew through the side. She had bright blonde hair with a gold-plated halo behind her head.
It was apparent that the angel gave off the vibe of a heavenly being guiding you up that staircase. The sculpture was so realistic that it could come to life at that very second with the added depth painted onto her skin and body, detailing her expression to appear as a celestial goddess.
It was like a staircase to Heaven.
When Michiko Kenji looked at the finished product, he couldn't help but cement his eyes on that beautiful angel his daughter's cake had. She offered her hand as if inviting those who looked at it to follow up the staircase and towards that bright light at the end.
'Ella…'
He could see his daughter on that angel's face, but the bright blonde hair of his late wife. It was like these two were mixed together into one person. The only conclusion he could come up with was that none other than his daughter suggested making this angel. Who else other than her would think of this?
When he saw his daughter looking up at that angel when they finished, he could read the sad expression written on her face.
