CHAPTER 19: SCARLET WOLF

Howl.....

A big red Wolf stood before them blocking the entrance passage of the cave. Behind them was the narrow inner path of the cave. It was so dark that they couldn't see anything. But they knew that the cave is big inside since lots of wolves stayed in there.

" Boss. It's a level 6 wolf, it's the wolf head. "

said Edward with a gleeful look to Taylor...

"Yes... Looks like it"

Replied Taylor as he looked at happy Edward,

'Is my luck turning good'

Thinking like that, he looked at the big red Wolf again. This is a level 6 wolf named Scarlet Wolf. It has a magic attack like a red rabbit. It too spits out fire blast from its mouth.

It is an easy wolf to kill as long as you escape from its fire attack. And that is the reason why Edward is happy.

The scarlet wolf stared at them and howled, but didn't attack them right away. Seeing that Taylor thought,

' so it's battle instincts are high'

To clarify his deduction, he moved and attacked the wolf's head with a straight thrust of his spear. The Scarlet wolf moved sideways avoiding his attack but didn't attack him. Instead, it moved backwards escaping from Edward's attacks. Seeing that Taylor was shocked.

'This Wolf is clever. It has an apparent battle instinct'

After escaping from both the attacks, the wolf sent out a fire blast from its mouth towards Taylor. Taylor moved backwards to be not hit by the blast. The wolf moved towards Edward and attacked him with its fangs. As Edward rolled and escaped from its sudden attack. Scarlet wolf moved it's front right leg and knocked the rolling Edward like a football.

Upon that hit, Edward was shot behind Taylor and with a bang, he drops on the ground. Debris started to fly. Picking himself from there Edward said,

" Boss., this is so much difficult.

Ahhhh. I have only half my health"

Saying that Edward drank a health potion. And dusted his armour.

" Let's change tactics, you attack it first. I will follow up on your attacks. "

Said Taylor.

' It is going to be time-consuming'

Then Edward rushed out and attacked the Scarlette wolf's leg with a slash from his right-hand blade. But Wolf just moved sideways avoiding it, but Edward continued his attack with his left blade.

At that time Taylor also moved out and appeared next to the wolf and slashed his spear in a horizontal slash with mana in the attack. Which made a cross line on the wolf's head as blood splashed.

As it avoided Edward's follow up attack. It got slashed by Taylor's spear in its head.

The Scarlet wolf howled in pain.

But both Taylor and Edward didn't give it any time to act, as they continued with their relentless attacks to take it's life away.

Taylor made a straight thrust and inserted his spear halfway into the wolf's left leg.

While Edward slashed the wolf's right leg with his blade attack.

And as they relentlessly attacked the Wolf which had its agility reduced due to wound in both leg. The wolf's health bar only had about 20%.

But the Scarlet Wolf started howling toward the inner reaches of the cave crying for help. Upon which two answers came in the form of howls from inside the cave.

'There are still Wolf inside'

Hearing that Taylor said,

"Fatty finish this Scarlet wolf before its friends come out"

Then they moved faster and bombarded the Scarlet wolf with heavy attacks on its injured parts. And when the Scarlet wolf's health almost hit zero.

They heard a pair of howl behind moving toward them at a faster pace.

And Taylor with a spear thrust into the Scarlet wolf's eyes ended its life.

Ding

After that, they turned around and saw two coast wolf running towards them from inside the cave. But they are shorter than the previous coast wolfs Taylor and Edward fought with.

'Shit. It's level 5 coast wolf.'

"Fatty. You handle the Scarlet wolf's body faster, I will handle those two. We have to clean up here quickly"

'It has already been an hour since we met that hunting party, the battle would start anytime now.'

Taylor put all his stat points from reaching level 6 into strength and drank a health potion to heal himself.

SPIRIT - 13. }

Finishing the potion, Taylor ran towards the two coast wolf that is approaching them and made a horizontal slash with his spear, with mana infused in it. An arc formed on the air and strike the wolves. Hit by the attack, the wolves moved backwards and again rushed at him.

Taylor moved towards the left side coast wolf after avoiding the attack from the right side Wolf. And followed up with his attack on the left side wolf's head with a thrust.

With a clear hit, blood started to flow from the wolf's head.

'Its health reaches about 40%.'

While checking the wounded left wolf's health bar above its head Taylor rolled back and avoided the right Wolf which bared its fangs towards him. After stabilizing himself, he slashed his spear vertically forming a beautiful arc with mana at the right side wolf's neck. And it made a critical hit, on which wolf's health bar reduced quickly as blood poured out from its neck dyeing Taylor with blood.

Wolf's painful howl stopped when its health bar reached zero.

'Perfect kill, with one hit'

But at that time, the left side wolf's fangs have almost reached him. Seeing that Taylor used his spear to deflect it and shifted sideways, but all efforts became futile as his left side shoulder was bitten by the Wolf.

"Aghhh"

His health bar started to reduce rapidly to 85% 50% 35% 20% 10% 5% as he cried out in pain, alerting Edward who was dismantling the scarlet wolf.

When Taylor felt his whole body weak and as he was about to drop his spear with no hope of survival a reckless personality took over him from deep within.

With his shoulder still in the wolf's mouth, Taylor thrust his spear up toward the wolf's throat and pushed it harder with all his strength while adding all his mana into it.

Splash...

When he thought it to be a tug of war, the spear tip popped out of the wolf's head top, opening the skull.

'It went through'

Even Taylor couldn't believe that he could easily penetrate the wolf's skull, but it happened. Wolf fell down with a bang on the ground. Taylor left his spear stuck on the wolf and moved backwards and fell to the ground. With the last remaining strength, he took out the only medium-level health potion he had from the inventory and drank it in a single gulp. Then his health started to raise as his wounds started to heal at a visible rate.

'There goes the best drink I had'

He closed his eyes.

'That was reckless...'

When Edward came and saw the left side, Wolf. He was shocked.

' Damn... Boss... Is merciless '

He had seen the last attack.

'A spear is skewed inside wolf's head from bottom to top. When you are being chewed by the wolf'

One word strike Edward's mind,

'SAVAGE'

Edward smiled.

Then he moved to Taylor and said dejectedly,

"Boss. You finished them alone. I thought you will stall them until I came. "

Taylor said jokingly,

"I told them to wait for you, but they didn't listen to me."

Edward too acted.

"Damn, can't you shits wait for me"

Saying that he moved towards the wolves. But before he could start to dissect the wolves, there came a howl from deep inside the cave.

A heavy pressure clouded on them... They felt hard to breathe...

They heard heavy footsteps from inside the cave.

They know what it is.

That level 6 Scarlet wolf isn't the head Wolf.

ALPHA is stepping out...
