Chapter Hundred & Forty-Two: Past: Wedding Shrills

Huitaca stared at her daughter with anger and disappointment, her calm state slipping as she wondered where had she gone wrong when it came to raising her children, mainly her daughter. Why would she let a man hurt her like this and still decide to marry him as though everything was still perfect?

Nothing was perfect and him only having done this, means that if things were to get worse in any situation, he would harm her again. Abusers rarely changed especially when they were used to getting what they wanted and one decided to defy their orders. Things wouldn't shift easily as they used to.

So when she stared at her daughter, the question lingering on her lips, she noticed the resolve in her daughter's eyes and wondered why had she decided to be weak when she needed to be brave. She had raised her children to be strong and to stay rooted in who they were and what they believed but her daughter didn't.

And it honestly hurt.
