Chapter 3

Carole is up and ready before Cole, already opened the curtains, and goes out to get them both tea but when she gets back to the room, Cole is up and reviewing at the note that he took trying to figure out if there was another meaning behind it, or if they actually just need to see the trees that are on that property. Placing down the cup of hot tea for Cole, Carole states; "You know if you keep staring at it, you're not going to find anything different... just like always." Cole looks up and chuckles, "I know, I know but I feel like I could, even though I won't." Carole nods; "Come on we going to head to the JLW station to talk to Carter about going to the property today," she started heading to the front door since they had put all their equipment in the car for the trip to the house, they didn't want to bring it the building where they were going to meet with Carter. Trailing behind her was Cole. They hoped in the car and headed towards JLW station.

As soon as they got there they walked right in and asked the receptionist; "Margo, is Carter in yet?" Margo looked up from her papers and sighed softly nodding; "Yes, he's on the third floor - the 6th door away from the elevator. But, knock before you enter because I believe he is still in a meeting or they went to get coffee."

"Of course, thank you," Carole says as she starts walking towards the other elevator, the opposite one from the previous day, Cole trails behind her holding the folder with the notes that they took yesterday.

After getting in the elevator and making it to the 3rd floor, they start walking down the hallway looking for the 6th door, but as they reached the 6th door Carter was walking out, saying goodbye to his guests. Cole looks at Carter and says, "We have a few questions about the property, and this note that we found in one of the folders yesterday." Carter opens the door so they can all go in and starts talking,

"I'm guessing you read the note and looked at the photo with the tree? We did as well, but, when we went to the site, we couldn't find that tree, or we were looking in the wrong spot." Carole nods stepping in the room as Cole follows and puts his note pad down; "So, you couldn't find the tree? That matched the description. Did you try and dig up under every wide, thick or long root there was?" Carter shakes his head no as Carole sighs; "See that's one thing you should have done, even if it is energy consuming and/or time consuming as well. We wanted to know if you would be willing to come with us to the site today, to show us around and what you and your team have/have not accomplished." Carter looks at Cole for quite some time before speaking; "Yeah, I could do that, I don't believe I have any other meetings right now, so we can leave in about thirty minutes, I just want to make sure my team knows what they need to do since I won't be there with them today." Cole nods as Carole goes to speak; "Can we see the box again with the files for this property, so we can go over it again before we head over?" Carter nods and leaves the room to grab the box, once he does, he places it on the table and leaves to go check on his team while Carole and Cole start going through the files again. Cole takes another look at the photo with the tree and notices something on one of the roots but doesn't say anything to Carole until he is able to confirm it with the actual tree itself. He pockets the photo and closes the folder he was looking at and puts it back in the box, he walks towards the door and says, "I'm getting some tea do you want some?" "Sure! That'd be lovely." Cole makes his way to the coffee room and starts making tea, Carter walks in; "You know, I noticed something in the photo of the tree but I didn't want to say anything to Carole yet, because she will get excited and what if what I see isn't on the actual tree?" Cole turns around and looks at Carter. He sighs, "Well, I agree with you on that but is it a good idea to keep it from her?" Cole laughs, "Of course not, she keeps things from me all the time when we are working on a case. I just don't want her to get her hopes up incase what I saw isn't on the actual tree." Carter nods, "I understand, we should head back so we can hit the road and get going," he starts to leave the coffee room with Cole trailing behind him holding two cups of tea.
