Chapter Three

(Dennis)

I didnt take long finding a nice house to stay the night in. My car coming to a stop, I was out in front a house that had its door slightly open, I knew there was gonna be someone or something inside but I was more then ready. I got out of my car, getting my bags from the back putting both of them on. I creeped toward the house and listened inside . I heard what sounded like tiny footsteps. Opening the door to peer inside to see 2 zombies shambling inside. I was beginning to transform my hand when suddenly, a tall broad man jumped from a corner of the room, stabbing one of the monsters square in the head.

He jumped back slightly, raising his knife that was quite big, and ran toward the second monster. He jabbed the monsters head but he didnt but enough force on it. The monster overpowered him, both of them falling onto the floor with the monster ontop of him. He was struggling, I didn't want him to die. I ran into the house with my hands clawed and no hesitation, swiping at the monsters head. It fell over off of the man, staggered on the ground. I grabbed the man and pulled him up, he seemed terrified of my hand. "I'll explain in a moment" I said. I then pushed my bladed fingers together a d drove them deep in the monsters skull. It flopped lifeless, I turned around to face this man.

"What's your name?" I asked

"Tom" He responded.

"I suppose you're probably wondering about this?" I said raising my bladed hand. He nodded his head staring nervously at it. I focused on retracting and turning them back into their original state. I then looked tom in the eye and did my best to explain what even I didnt know.

"Well, I am, or was a criminal. My name is Dennis. Scientists came to where I was being held in captivity by the law and asked if they could use me for testing. They took my somewhere not far from here and sedated me, I still have no idea what they did but now I can do what you just saw"

"Wow, it's pretty badass. I gotta ask are you going to kill me?" he said nervously. I smiled and laughed hard at him.

"No I'm not gonna kill you, I mean I just saved your life" I said with a smile. He smiled back. "Well wanna stay the night here?" he offered, "yeah definitely, I got a bunch of food from a mini mart if you're hungry" I said pointing the bags on my back.

His eyes light up in delight, a wide smile spreading across his face, "yes please!" he said quickly. I smiled and took the moment to really look over Tom. He was taller then me, about 6'3 while I was 5'11, he had very gorgeous brown eyes, egg shell pale skin and a lean body build. He had a little stubble on his face as well but it only made him more attractive. His teeth were a tiny bit crooked, but nobody is perfect. I thought he was a very attractive man. From his personality I can tell hes very bubbly, honest and unconventional. Pretty good traits if you ask me.

"Well let's dig in" I say after admiring him, "agreed" he said, his mouth watering a small bit.

"So tom, I gotta ask you something" I said after swallowing the meat from a can I opened. "Yeah and what's that?" he asked, "why were you in a house with two monsters?" "I was looking for somewhere to stay, but I'm kind of terrified ridiculously of these things so I had to build up the courage in the corner if the room" He said. "Ooohh, yeah these things are pretty terrifying arent they.." "Yeah they are but you have no problem with them, mr.talons for fingers" he said jokingly. I smiled at his light-hearted joke a push him slightly, laughing a little. He began to laugh to, nothing in particular was funny we were just laughing.

Our laughter died slowly, and we were just staring each other in our eyes. I hadn't realized how desperate for companionship I was until now, I'm glad I was able to meet Tom.

"You know, throughout this entire thing so far, I thought I was gonna be lonely. Nobody else around but these creepy fuckers. I'm actually really glad you clawed that zombie to death for me" he smiled fondly, I laughed at his dorky-ness and smiled fondly at him as well. "Me too Tom, me too".

After a while we eventually finished eating, me and tom were sitting on a couch just resting a little. We had a small fire going in a controlled area so that there could be a little light but not too much. We dont want attention from those freaks at the moment.

Our peaceful moment was cut short when a thud was heard against the front of the door, followed by a few grunts from a monster. I didnt want to make a sound so I just looked at tom who seemed to be terrified. I put my hand on his knee in an attempt to calm him down so he wouldnt freak out or something. It worked, as his muscles visibly relaxed a little. Another thud was sounded, I was slow glad the door on this house were metallic and mow some kind of wood. It held up against the monsters offense, we sat through it for what felt like forever. Eventually the zombie got bored and left us alone, sighing happily I looked over to Tom again to see him trembling.

"Are you ok?" I whispered, he shook his head no, he scooted closer to me and wrapped his arms around my body, hugging me tightly. "Wow jeez Tom did it scare you that bad?" I said, wrapping my arms around him as well. He nodded against me but didn't say anything. We stayed like that until his trembling died down, and he began having steady breathing.

"I guess you weren't lying when you said you have a fear of these things huh? I cant imagine how terrifying that was for you" I cooed trying to calm him down furthermore. "Yeah it was pretty terrifying, thanks for letting me hold you I needed that" He said scratching the back of his neck. I smiled fondly at him and said "of course."

"We should probably go to sleep" Tom said, I nodded in agreement. "Yeah you're right, we'll need some energy to figure out what our next move is" Tom smiled and nodded in agreement as well.

At that moment I knew me and Tom had some sort of unspoken bond, I knew I could trust him and he could trust me. We'll get through this apocalypse together. We laid down against the couch, it was thankfully big enough for both of us. I wasted no time drifting off to sleep, but not before saying "goodnight" to Tom. He kissed the top of my forehead, "Goodnight Dennis" he said then drifted off to sleep himself. I smiled, happy that I could have someone to survive with, and with that I was off to sleep.
