Greece, 146 BC

"Aaaaaaahhhhhh!" screamed Lucas and Jessica as they spun around in a vortex with very flashy lights. After endless waves of rumbling and vibrating, everything finally stopped. They had successfully traveled through time. "Is this heaven?" said Jessica, with her head still shaken. "No, I think this is, Greece?" said Lucas as looked out of the time machine. It was a great view as the time machine cruised in the skies over the beautiful city. Their time machine then landed in a hidden alley. "We better cover this up before someone in this age completely loses their mind." Both instantly search the trunk of the time machine and found a digital like cover. "And how is this supposed to make it look less, you know, out of place?" said Jessica as she held up the hologram cover. "I did some little experiments with this. Watch." said Lucas as he threw it over the time machine. The cover started scanning the surroundings then suddenly, it changed its appearance, perfectly blending with the surroundings."

"Oh wow, nice." said Jessica, still amazed. "What year had the time machine taken us, and most importantly, why did it take us here?" said Lucas as he looked over the city. "Ummm, Jess, since when did you change clothes? And I don't remember you buying that kind of cloth, or any kind of dress at all." said Lucas as he pointed at Jessica. She was wearing a white dress, with an olive wreath over her head. Jessica was confused as she looked down. "Lucas, speak for yourself." said Jessica as she pointed at him. He was wearing a white toga with an olive wreath as well. "Mmmm, odd. I guess the time machine adapts to whatever age we are in so we don't look, kinda off." said Lucas as he looked around the time machine and see if he could find his own regular clothes.

"Luc, do you understand Greek?" said Jessica as the walked out of the alley into a large city on the coast. "No.... I don't understand Greek?" said Lucas as they stared at each other. Suddenly a man who was walking by them stopped and turned around, giving them a confused look. "Children, should I be worried about you? You do know you are speaking Greek right." said the man, then he left them. "What just happened. How did we just understand him?" said Jessica. Lucas then felt something hanging over his neck. It was a shiny jade pendant. It was hanging over Jessica's neck as well. "I think it's whatever this thing is."

As they traveled around the city, they had just realized that they don't know how to come back, and they had no money, no food and no house. They were stranded in a different place at a different time with absolutely nothing. "This was the biggest mistake ever." said Jessica. Lucas was just walking around in circles, trying to find out how to get back to their time. "I warned you not to turn on the machine first! We had no idea how it works, where the destination was." said Jessica. "Ok, ok. I'm sorry. But I think I have figured out an idea." said Lucas as he inspected the time machine. "Do you remember how dad always brought home something, always in a mysterious shaped suitcase?" "Yeah, why?" "Why would he always do that if all he ever wanted was to explore and learn about the past." said Lucas as the both stared at each other.

"Because he needed it to go home!" said both of them. "But how do we know what we're supposed to bring home?" said Lucas. "Well there is no google here. But maybe magic and sorcery could provide the information." said Jessica. "Wait, wait, wait a minute. Hold on. (Tries to hide laughter) You want to use magic, if there is even magic, to go home." "I know it is as ridiculous as it sounds and you don't believe in magic. But we could give it a try." said Jessica. "I don't know, it seems kind of desperate doesn't i-"

Suddenly a loud explosion was heard. The city gates had been exploded. Roman soldiers rushed into the the town, burning everything.

"By the order of King Augustus, the town of Helmantica now belongs to the Kingdom of Rome. Those who refuse to follow in order, will be executed on sight." read the commander of the raiders. "Executed on sight?" whispered Lucas to Jessica. "We'll be discovered if they start inspecting!" said Jessica with a very concerned face.

Out of a sudden, two kids swung from the roof, lighting a barricade of fire in front of the lines of soldiers. The horses refused to go through the fire. Chaos spread across the border of fire they had made. "Take this sword." said one of them to Lucas. "You seem to be a good swordsman." "Who are you?" asked Lucas. The figure puts back his hood on and started passing more weaponry to the rest of the people of Helmantica. The Roman Soldiers started rushing through the fire, ignoring the pain of the heat. But it was a mistake. The people of Helmantica were now armed, and archers have readied and were planted on every roof of each house.

Suddenly an artillery shot hit the first line of defense. "Do you really think we would invade Helmantica without considering the notorious Reignheart Squadron?"

Lucas and the rest of the people were the frontline now. "Just surrender everyone! Drop your weapons and surrender!" said one of the crowd. Soon everyone dropped their weapons and surrendered. The hooded duo popped out in front, with their weapons still at ready. "It doesn't matter if you surrender or not! They will still capture you alive!" said one of the hooded duo.

"Lucas where are you going?" said Jessica as Lucas started backing away. "Umm, joining these people?" "Lucas get back here and fight!" Suddenly another artillery shot hit and Jessica was knocked out in the radius of the blast. "Jessica! Are you okay? Jess, talk to me. Jess?"

"She's fine. She's just knocked out. Quickly prepare yourself for another artillery shot. Your name is Lucas right?" said one of the hooded figure. The figure then faces backwards and realizes he had vanished. "Are the people of Helmantica all this fainthearted?" said the figure to herself as she ran around, trying to find a way to avoid the soldiers. "Axel, I need help with the artillery." "On it. Amelia, try rallying the other citizens back. Our archers won't be able to handle the spearmen alone." said Axel. They jumped swiftly from one roof to another, making it difficult for the archers to get a shot on them.

Suddenly, 2 chains with wide flat blades on each end grappled itself onto the building Axel was jumping through, and ripped it down. Axel fell through the building, injuring both of his legs. The soldier who was holding the chains was menacing, fierce, powerful and struck fear into Axel. "You have been stalling and tiring our troops, but it will all be a mere setback when I rip your heart out of that chest." said the soldier. "Commander Corvis. We need to capture them alive, not dead." said one of the admirals. "Fine. If you try do anything funny, I'll make sure you will die painfully." said the commander.

The archers started going down as the Roman soldiers smote them one by one. "If we are going to die, then we shall die in honor." said Amelia. As the soldiers surrounded them, chaos happened behind them. "Help! Ambush from behind!" shouted one of the soldiers. Lucas ran through the blockade and lit the artillery on fire. "Capture that kid!" As the soldiers tried to apprehend Lucas, arrows were fired at them. "Not on my watch." said Jessica as held a bow. Lucas gave her a surprised look. "I took extra archery classes, and apparently it's paying off."

Suddenly, a rumble was heard. Citizens were marching towards the soldiers who were cornering Amelia. "How is that possible?" said one of the admirals. "Because we are united, and that's how we'll defeat you." said Amelia. Commander Corvis felt his anger flowing through. "Cute, but that's not going to defeat the Roman Empire. Soldiers, attack! What are you waiting for!" None of the soldiers attacked or even raised their weapon. "We refuse to kill our own people! We were enslaved, but now we'll redeem ourselves of what we have done." Soldiers started rallying together with citizens and the Reignheart Duo. Had not the admirals pulled Commander Corvis, he would have stroke at the soldiers. "It's no use. We'll retrieve more troops and attack with full power another day."

The citizens cheered as the admirals and Commander Corvis retreated. Amelia instantly rushed to the building where Axel had fell through. "Axel, are you ok?" A paralyzed Axel sat there, while holding his leg. "No, help me. I can't feel my leg." Lucas, Jessica and Amelia lifted Axel and placed him in the center of the ruined village. "Hold one sec." "Jess, where are you going?" said Lucas. She then came back with a medical box. "What in the name of Zeus is that?" "It's medical herbs. It should help you feel better." Jessica broke a stick and wrapped it around Axel's leg with some bandage, and applied acetaminophen*. "It's hurting less. Thank you."

*Acetaminophen: medicine that removes pain for a period of time

"And yet you said time travel would be more relaxing than the science olympics?" said Jessica as she nudged her brother. "Oh shut up. I said making a time machine would be more relaxing." said Lucas. "Either way, same thing." said Jessica. "How is that the same thi-" Jessica had placed her hand over Lucas' mouth. "As I said, same thing."

Amelia approached them and Jessica quickly put down her hands, slightly wiping Lucas' saliva off her hands. "Thank you so much for all your help. Without it, I think Helmantica and us wouldn't be here. Is there anything we can do to repay your kindness" said Amelia. "It's nothing. But we do need help with something." said Lucas. "What is it?" "(mutters under breathe) I can't believe I'm about to say this. Do you know a place, where magic exists?"

"Ah, it's sorcery you seek. Well I and Axel have received information of a magical place, a library, that holds all kinds of magic books and items. But we think it's a myth since all places which had connection with magic was destroyed by the Roman Empire."

"Where is it located?" asked Jessica.

"In the imperial city of Corinth."
