Werewolves

Hearing her say werewolves surprised me. How she seemed to accept that we were real so easily astounded me. Most humans who had seen us shift think we're demons or something. They never jump straight to werewolves. This human was full of surprises.

She wasn't the only one surprising me though. The fact that the old man had known her father, and even called him friend, was astonishing as well. He called very few friend. This man was the only human who had been called that. Wolves, by rule, tended to avoid humans in general. Thus why we had lived in places such as Misty Forest. Caused less witch hunts and sadness of their loss since humans have a much shorter life span.

There seemed to be a stunned silence after my response. Seeing as how they were werewolves, being called that shouldn't have stunned them so easily. If anyone deserved to be stunned it was me. From how things had gone from the moment I had woken up at home until now.

"Lass, I have no problem with you staying here, but I will need to ask you some things. If you could answer me to the best of your ability I would appreciate it. I knew your father when I was younger and counted him as a friend. Seeing the resemblance of him so strongly in you leaves me no doubt you are his daughter."

"I will answer the best I can but I have some questions in return. This whole thing has been crazy for me. Learning that there is such a thing as werewolves especially."

I could tell this would take awhile. I had never seen my old man so interested in a subject of conversation in awhile. Figuring she had to be hungry with how she was eating that loaf of bread, I made up a plate of food for her to eat and placed it in front of her then found myself a comfortable place to sit and listen. After all this was going to not only affect her, but the whole pack as well. There was the added bonus of being able to learn about my mate as I watched her and listened as well.

She quickly noticed the plate of offered food and started eating. I watched as her lips slightly turned up in delight at the food. The partially eaten loaf of bread all but forgotten.

"Alright lass, you can start with your questions. While I am very curious about you and your situation, you should be comfortable in your stay here and that I am sure would require some knowledge of who you are staying with."

"Assuming everyone in this town is like those I ran into, The Ares and co, you are all werewolves, correct?"

I snorted at her calling me Ares. God of war? Well I guess we never did exchange names so she had to come up with something. Hearing my snort of amusement I was rewarded with a glare from both my mate and the old man.

Clearing his throat, "Dimwit here didn't have time for a proper introduction apparently. I am Gareth, my son is Wilder. Yes we are all werewolves, although as someone who has never come across one until today I am surprised how easily you seem to accept that we exist."

"As a human who has powers and was ostracized from the townspeople, other abnormal existences aren't a complete surprise. Cassidy by the way."

Hearing her name my father and I both halt.
