General Became Private
(Gianna's pov)
I feel incomplete without Charlie and him. By him, I mean Xavier. They have already made their places in my heart. Now my heart is crying out loud and thumping in aggression, as both of them are now far away from my reach.
To be very honest, it is really hard without Charlie to live normally. He was always there for me, whenever I was in need of anything. It was a magic how he knew to take care of me.
I wonder, how is he doing right now? Did he have his food properly, on time? Did he sleep enough? Did he play all day long? Did Xavier play with him too? Are both of them missing me? And many more questions revolve in my head, all the time.
Today Amelia left early, saying she had to exercise or something, it was fishy as she never left to exercise this early in the morning but whatever, it's not like everyone tells me everything, somehow I have become used-to with people hiding things from me.
I was slowly pacing around in the kitchen, trying to find stuff around the shelves to find the requirements to make my breakfast.
Suddenly my foot got stuck by the dining table chair and I fell down harshly, I screamed in pain as I clutched my ankle and tears started rolling down my cheeks. I whimpered in pain, I felt some blood oozing out immediately after I fell, I know I was being illogical when I let Charlie stay back at Moretti Mansion because without him, I realized I can't do anything. Call me anything because I deserve it, idiot, stupid, immature, selfish, b*tch, or anything, I know I've made a grave mistake.
I dragged myself, using the chair, I stood up but cried out loud in pain when my right foot touched the floor for a second. I instantly sat on the chair and kept my hands on my forehead, trying to swallow down the pain I was experiencing.
"Why am I so hopeless!" I exclaimed and kept my head on the table while crying until all the tears got dried out in my eyes. I cannot leave the wound untreated, I have to start learning how to manage myself from now.
After a while, I gathered strength and stood up, I exerted pressure on my left foot and hopped towards the couch where I had kept my cane.
I searched for it, and after finding it, I rushed out of the apartment. I locked the door carefully and hopped towards the sidewalk to hail a taxi. I sensed that someone was watching me, so I turned to look but being blind is a great disadvantage for such circumstances, being unable to do anything, I got impatient and decided to ignore this creepy feeling.
"Taxi!" I exclaimed loudly while signalling and fortunately a taxi stopped in front of me.
"To the City Hospital, thank you." I said in a rush as the taxi driver greeted me.
(Xavier's POV)
"What are these rubbish ideas! Do we provide such level of professionalism to our clients!? How could you people even suggest these project designs when you all know what are demands they requested!" I exclaimed and glared at everyone present in the meeting room, they all looked down while Adam had his arrogant smirk on his face as if he was enjoying my temper.
"I want new firearm designs ready by--"
*Rrring Rrring Rrring*
I sighed heavily as the phone ringing voice interrupted what I was saying during the meeting.
"Who dares to evoke the rules of meeting, have I not made myself clear, I hate nuisance while the meeting is going on?" I asked sharply in a cold voice, I could hear many gulps but not like I care, no one dares to interrupt me while speaking during a meeting!
"S-sir...?" One of my female employees said in a low voice after looking around at her colleagues.
"What."
"S-sir, we always k-keep our phones in silence m-mode before entering a meeting." She looked down as if scared of the consequences she might face to point this fact out for her boss. Adam sitting beside my head chair smirked and cleared his throat. I looked at him and raised one of my eyebrows.
Adam took out one of my spare phone from his pocket and handed it to me. I took the phone and noticed a missed call from the head of guards assigned for Gianna's protection. I instantly called him back, ignoring everyone present in the room, to know the reason for sudden call in the morning, he always called me during evening hours for reporting her activities.
"Capo! La signora ha fermato un taxi e sembrava ferita mentre usciva di casa." The head of guards informed, and my eyes widened ever so slightly. (Boss! Madam has hailed a taxi, and she seemed injured when she was leaving her house.)
"Rintraccia la sua posizione. Sbrigati! Segui lei!" I exclaimed as I stood up, following me everyone stood up too in respect. I hanged up the call and wore my coat of my suit. (Trace her location. Be quick! Follow her!)
"Adam, please continue the meeting, I have to leave." Adam gave a quick nod and I heard many sighs of relief, I turned to glare at everyone, making them look back onto the floor.
I rushed out of my office towards my car. I gave the address I received to my guards, and we drove towards the City Hospital. My heart was thumping lub-dub loudly, I wiped the tiny sweat beads forming on my forehead and took a deep breath to calm myself.
I called Amelia, but she was not picking up her phone, which was very strange.
I reached the hospital, and rushed to the reception to ask for Gianna. They started inquiring regarding my relation with her, which made me go blank for a second before I answered,
"I am her fiancé! Now f*cking tell me or else--"
"U-uhm, she went towards the outpatient room no. 02 on first floor to the right of this hallway." She gave me directions and I rushed towards the ward. When I spotted her being treated by a doctor, I went towards her in a hurry.
"Why are you here?" I didn't even utter a single phrase, and she shot me where it hurt the most.
"Why? Am I not allowed to enter the hospital or what?"
"They were your man, right? Who were staring at me continuously?"
"What if they were?" I shrugged, and the doctor stared at me like I am some creepy stalker.
"I am her fiancé, now if you're done, give us some space and get lost." I glared at him coldly, making the doctor scurry away instantly after keeping the prescription on the bedside table.
"Can you not be rude with everyone? And you are not my fiancé." Gianna said in a stern voice.
"How did you get hurt?" I ignored her question and asked her about her injury.
"None of your business." Gianna turned her face away and closed her eyes as if ignoring my presence.
"Should I make this my business?" I asked her, making her confused. She opened her eyes and frowned questioningly at me.
I took my phone out and called the Mayor, I took some steps away from her and had a few words with him. I hanged the call as soon as I received a satisfactory deal.
Suddenly, there was a knock and I gave them permission to enter, the door opened, and the hospital chief came inside to greet the new owner of the hospital.
"Thank you, we are grateful, we now see hope that our hospital will finally become a major hospital with wide and modified equipments, grow even bigger and with patient amenities." He greeted me not before thanking me once again, which I responded with a curt nod and he exited the room. Gianna's eyes went wide enough, that they might pop out anytime soon.
"Are you crazy!?" She exclaimed.
"Yes, for you, my love."
"Who buys the whole hospital in just one call!?" She shouted.
"Me."
"I can't believe you. Still, my condition is none of your business, so please go away from here."
"How is it not my business? You are the patient of my hospital, you are the very first patient I have ever greeted after buying this hospital, I have the right to know your case."
"You know what? Congratulations, keep your first patient and your hospital in your pocket." She said and swiftly removed her IV making some blood ooze out of her hand, I rushed towards her, but she held her hand in air in front of me, not allowing me to take a step further. She took her cane and hopped out of the room, I rushed behind her, but she slammed the door of the ward in my face, but I didn't give up and hurried behind her.
"Will you stop following me?" She said as soon as she turned her head when she heard me running towards her.
"Never. Ever. My heart beats for you, my blood flows for you and my mind works because every time I think of you, my world starts and ends with you."
"Are you trying to impress me?"
"Is it working?"
"Hopefully not." Gianna said and went towards the reception desk to pay for her treatment, but I snatched her wrist and made her follow me. I got her hand cleaned up by the doctor, and he applied a bandage on her hand. I got her medicines from hospital pharmacy and finally took her towards my car.
"Gianna, have I not expressed my feelings for you clearly in the past?" I questioned her as soon as we sat in the car. I told the driver to take us to the Moretti mansion.
"What do you mean?" Gianna tilted her head in confusion.
"Have I ever said that I won't have a relationship with you, or I won't marry you because of your blindness?" She shook her head in response.
"Have I insulted or embarrassed you in any way, directly or indirectly?" I asked her and she again shook her head.
"Why are you asking me so many questions today?" Gianna asked me and I sighed in grief.
"So how am I supposed to agree with this sudden breakup without mutual consent? I have the obligation to question your decision." Gianna turned her face towards her lap and clenched both of her fist.
"You will be embarrassed. I am not perfect for you, forget me, please Xavier, I am begging you." Her voice became very smooth, and I could see she was crying.
"Did you ever asked me if I am embarrassed?" She shook her head.
"Come, let me take you somewhere, you will then come to know, I can never feel embarrassed with you by my side. It's the opposite, trust me."
I told the driver to take us towards "HQ". Gianna looked confused as she didn't know its meaning and where this was supposed to be.
