Today was a special day for many. Thirteen-year-old Tynaki ran down the dirt road of the town and toward a large dojo that had five slightly smaller dojos next to it. Every few years, this dojo would accept people to learn from some of the strongest masters on how to perform Elemartial Arts. As he ran around the medieval Japanese town, friends and mothers waved and cheered him and many other children who ran towards the Dojo.
Eventually, everyone came to a gargantuan dojo. Larger than a bank and two stretched football fields across, the dojo immediately filled with about a hundred people. In front of everyone stood five old people in black kimonos.
The one in the middle spoke "I will explain exactly what elemartial arts are. There are five elements: fire, water, lightning, earth, and air. Each one has its own base fighting style. Fire is fierce and brutal, while water focuses on counter-attacking and tactics. Lighting is all about relentless attacks and combos and earth is targeted on being defensive and landing strong blows. Air's focal point is elusive dodging and landing blows at every chance given.
The most complicated but highest skill is air. Fire and lightning are very straightforward to learn and can get fairly strong. Earth is tough, yet it can be quite powerful. Similar to the difficulty of air, water is one of the hardest elemartial arts but also has one of the highest skill ceilings. Now keep in mind the descriptions aren't exact. For example, there are probably hundreds of fire element users who fight differently.
Now to unlock the elements you must become very skilled in martial arts. Doing this will result in you being able to manipulate the element over time. Now choose the element you want to train under."
To the left, a seemingly very disciplined female had a gust of wind surrounding her. Exactly three students went to her: a woman in a white dress, a skinny tall man, and a girl in a black leather suit with a determined mind.
Then a man, who appeared buff for his age, had earth immediately rise around him. A decently sized group of people went to him.
The woman in the middle, who seemed very peaceful and kind, had water flow calmingly around her. Around 30 to 40 people went to her. Afterwards, a very disciplined looking man had fire rise around him. Exactly 50 people went to him.
Finally, a truly open and aware old man had an aura of lightning surround him. The remaining 30 people chose him, including Tynaki.
This is how the story starts, of not just one legend but the rising of multiple legends.
Each class followed their teachers out to separate areas within the vicinity of the six dojos. Tynaki along with his class walked through a field before arriving at a very large dojo. Everyone silently sauntered to the middle of the dojo and sat awaiting instruction. The teacher gracefully sat in front of the class and declared, "First before anything, I must warn you that this is going to be intense. For without intense training your body will be demolished. Completely. That being said are you all ready to begin".
A few were unnerved and hesitated by this statement, but many others like Tynaki nodded silently. Tynaki enrolled not because he thought he'd be cool, he enrolled because he was ready to fight villains. He wanted to go face to face with death multiple times over. He has been training for this moment for as long as he can remember.
The teacher smiles seeing half of the class is prepared. Disappearing in a flash, the teacher reappears only to be holding multiple large vests. "Put these on," he orders, "these are made of a material that is not only hefty but also makes it scorching even in the winter." He tosses one to every student and some are barely able to pick it up. Tynaki struggles for a minute before finally picking it up and clumsily putting it on. After everyone had a vest on, allowing no one to catch their breath, the teacher sternly instructed, "Now. Each one of you, do 1,000 push-ups within five minutes and then an entire lap around the town in ten. If anyone of you falls behind by a second no less, then you do an extra 2,000 push-ups and two laps. Also when doing the laps, you can not slow down once. Lightning is speed based. If your stamina is lacking, you die. It is as simple as that."
Tynaki took a second to process everything before starting push-ups. He sighed as he thought this is gonna be a long day. However, at the same time, he was pumped. Adrenaline was flowing through him because he knew how close he was to become tremendous.
Meanwhile, the air class conjoined with the water class. The air teacher quietly sat down and explained "Both of your initial training is similar and since my class is small, we shall be joining together today. Put on these vests." as the water teacher handed out the same heavy vest to everyone, the air teacher continued, " We shall be taking pebbles and tossing them towards all of you at fast speeds. The water students shall block and the air students shall dodge. The more you block or dodge the faster they shall be thrown."
Both classes accepted the challenge and were ready.
Out of the people of the air and water classes, there was three whos determination seemed unmatched. Lizzie, who had blue eyes and short black hair, had a blue t-shirt and blue jeans on. She seemed fierce and hyped all at once. She was in the water class.
Another student in the water class had blue hair and seaweed green eyes. She wore her hair in a ponytail, only showed determination and coldness in her eyes, and was in a fit formal kimono. Then there was the girl from the air class who had long silky black hair, dark brown eyes and a leather suit. She looked deadset on being the best.
Lizzie saw the other two and was almost intimidated but she kept her cool. As the training started she had a rather easy time deflecting the rocks granted there were a small number of people who could barely take small speeds. Lizzy was getting confident but soon the rocks started speeding up rapidly, panic started to form. Lizzie was doing her best to catch the rocks. Even though she may not have been the strongest, she was determined. She attempted to shorten her thought process and tried to act instantaneously but even that wasn't enough. At one point she felt a pebble barely miss her hand and smack her on the forehead the shock causing her the fall back from only the tiny pebble.
She caught her breath. She didn't notice as she was caught up in the moment but she was so exhausted she nearly fainted. But she looked around, she realized only the black-haired girl in a leather suit and the blue-haired girl in a kimono were still standing. Granted the one in the leather suit was almost immediately taken out as the pebbles speed increased.
Lizzie then crawled over to her and pat her shoulder "Hey there, you did great. Even better than me and basically everyone. What's your name?" The girl in the leather suit sighed and laid down before letting out a small smile "The names Elizabeth. And thanks too your not so bad yourself. But it's kinda frustrating. I mean look at her. She isn't breaking a sweat!"
This entire time the girl in a kimono has not changed her expression and was still blocking every single pebble with a single hand
The teachers sped up to the point each pebble broke the sound barrier the kimono girl unfased
Eventually, the water teacher whispered "Time for the intense part then"
The water teacher dashed at speeds far surpassing sound and rapidly attacked the girl in kimono who immediately adapted to blocking dodging and blocking the pebbles all at once.
She was even able to get the water teacher on the ground but then the air teacher attacked too at a even faster speed but was immediately dodged and apprehended at the same time
One would immediately assume the teachers were only messing around but one look and
The teachers were regaining their breath
The kimono girl wiped the sweat off her forehead
And sighed
That's when everyone knew
There was a monster among their ranks
Lizzie as a child was always talented.
Oddly strong and smart and perceptive considering the fact she didn't put work into things. She'd get a's she'd win fights and she'd outsmart bullies
She was not cocky but she amassed a small ego
And this boosted her determination
She was already strong so just imagine what she could do if she tried her hardest
That was her motivation
But as she took one look at that girl's dead eyes
She realized something
She isn't special.
