SIXTY FOUR

The minute the words 'yes' left my mouth everyone was by my side, fussing others prodding the engagement ring, trying to count how many diamonds are on it

My mother seemed to be the most excited of the bunch. She kept hugging Hilden and l, babbling on and on about how excited she was that this time around he had done things by the book. Mr Keys, John and my father stood of to the side allowing the woman to do the nagging as it is in their nature

I felt suffocated by the immense amount of attention that for a second l began to feel light headed until l remembered that l had yet to see Akai. The last l had been in her presence was in the car

"Everyone stop!" I shouted at the small crowd causing them all to stop and look at me confused by my reaction to the situation

"Where is Akai?" I asked

"She's in the house where we are headed anyway. We need to get you ready for the wedding ceremony" my mom said like a little kid on Christmas
