The fact that The Unreachable Gate, Anote, had allied himself with Red Tears made perfect sense.

Earlier, it was The Unreachable Gate that restrained Killer J for Red Tears to take Lisa away, and due to The Unreachable Gate's unique characteristic, his chances of taking the Divine Artifact for himself was the lowest.
