Yin instantly dashed, avoiding a splurt of acidic spit that was coming her way. She jumped away narrowly esceping from being cleaved in two by one of the scythes.
'Damn, this is troublesome. It's defence is nothing special, but it's quick and I have to attack the back or risk getting a faceful of acid. I wish I could use Double Slash but the VR doesn't support spatial attacks'
Suddenly she saw the monster trip after missing its attack. She used the chance to immediately sever one of its arms before jumping away. What followed was an angry screech as the monster destroyed its severed arm with acid.
Just as she was wondering how to proceed further the annoucer turned on:
- Insectoid race. Natural Enemy of Humans and Diamond Race that prefers devouring metals. Very destructive towards technology due to its acid spit. Devouring increases their cultivation. Agile combat type.
'Not really helpful. I can try baiting it into a crevice caused by the acidic spit and try to make it fall again. '
With that thought she slowly started kiting the Insectoid towards the crevice, taking careful note to avoid falling down. After a minute, just as she was about to be hit she jumped sideways, letting the insectoid trip on the crevice and fall down, then she dashed right behind it and smashed a full power Star Shattering Fist into its head.
The room once again turned blurry...
Meanwhile outside the tower, the square filled with excited murmurs.
- Look, as expected of first ranked, she crossed to the eigth level!
- Damn, never expecter that, most rookies die to the Insectoid's Acidic Spit.
- I wonder how long she can last on the eigth level. If she gets into top 500 the resources she'll recieve will make her a powerhouse when they graduate.
Even Teacher Zhao showed excitement on his face.
Yin found herself standing in what looked like a gigantic monster lair. She didn't see her opponent.
The announcer turned on immediately this time:
- Cosmic Locusts. A space-wondering species, commonly refered to as a cosmic plague. High reproductive capabilities, newborns start at the Core Formation and mature into Astral Warrior Realm over the course of a week. Eats everything. Attitude to humans: Mortal enemies. Complete eradication required.
Yin focused on her senses and after a short while filtered out sound of buzzing wings that was coming from right behind her. She whirled around, Clawing with Dragon Claws on both hads and slashed through a group of five Core Formation level locusts. With a ding the scenery changed once again. She found herself facing a brown-skinned humanoid covered with black tatoos that had scarlet red eyes and two protruding horns on his forhead. On his hands there were two weird-looking gauntlets from which each had a gigantic double-edged blade extending from the knuckles. His cultivation was equal to hers.
- Blade Demon Race. Highly intelligent cultivation civilization, mortal enemy of humans. Agile-power combat type, extremely dangerous in one on one fight. Their ritualistic blades on the gauntlets can cleave through even the hardest metals. Main enemy of human race in Milky Way Galaxy.
Yin unsheathed her sword. This was going to be her first fight with a dual-wielding opponent even if it was an alien. She parried the first attack... earning herself a cut across the chest as the blade cleaved through her sword like it was made out of butter.
'Alright bad idea of course they can cut through weapons. Hmm... let's try grappling to see if I can get it to cripple itself with its blades.'
Yin proceeded to dodge around using Astral Slip, running around her opponent.
'Now! '
She thought, as she dodged to the side then pushed the Blade Demon's arm with her full strength, making it cut off its other arm with its own attack. She immediately followed up with a Dragon Claw tearing the other arm, then crushed its head with Star Shattering Fist.
With a ding Yin found herself standing in what looked like a highly-technological metropolis facing a weird white Alien that looked like a result of crossbreeding human with a shark. It was holding a weird-looking device that resembled a gun. Yon immediately started running towards it in a zigzag line to dodge what she guess would be incoming projectiles. She wasn't disappointed as her previous location got blown up by a series of lazer projectiles.
- Sharkfin Race. A highly advanced technological race with weak cultivation but weaponry capable of matching expert's attacks in power. A civilization from nearby galaxy. Trade partners of human race that engage in friendly skrimishes. Extremely weak defenses.
Yin ignored the voice as she arrived before the alien and bisected him in one hit despite his 2 stages higher cultivation.
'Huh, that was easy, I guess their defence really is terrible'
As she once again saw the arena change she faced what looked like a gigantic levitating space octopus.
- World Devourer. A type of space parasite that feeds by draining life energy of a planet. They invade in great numbers, but usually only the mother beast has high cultivation level. A space plague that regularly attacks human race, eradication required.
Yin raised an eyebrow. Despite it being Core Formation 7th stage beast she didn't feel like it was that much of an opponent. She dashed sideways, cutting through the tentacles then proceeded to climb on its back and repeatedly smash its body with Star Shattering Fist. Though it took her some time, she finally smashed through its defence while avoiding getting hit by any attacks, as she was standing in a blind spot of the creature's defence.
The stage changed once again and she found herself facing a birdman. A Core Formation Peak birdman. With a wave of its hand she felt herself getting bisected in two then she appeared back on the Trial Tower's square. She looked at the score table that displayed her ranking:
Long Yin, Rank 68
Both Freshman and Upperclassmen were excitedly discussing with each other.
- 11 level! There's actually a freshman thath reached 11th level on her first try!
- Her fighting skills must be amazing, tenth level is five cultivation stages above her!
- Man if this is how she's now, imagine how strong she'll be when she graduates!
Teacher Zhao looked at Long Yin smilingly.
- What a good performance. I'll talk with Headmaster, there might be a reward waiting for you.
He then turned to class.
- Everyone, class dismissed. Feel free to roam around. Just remember that the VR classroom closes at 7 pm.
As the students dispersed Yon smiled a predatory smile. Rank 68 was good, but it didn't give her the resources she wanted, no, she wanted to be at least top 50. With those thoughts she started walking towards Combat Arena.
