23. Third year and the top 10 school competition pt 1

Long Yin got lost absorbing all knowledge for the University to the point she got lost in time. By the time she realized a year passed and the date of her Uni Exemption Exams came. Despite the nerves, she managed to ace the exams, earning her right to only do specialized subjects. And so 1st of September found Long Yin once again in Headmaster's office.

- Welcome back my dear. I thank you for giving our school a reputation for raising a genius student. Thanks to you our enrollment lists are hitting record numbers. This year there will be a competition between top ten High Schools Elite classes. As the Fourth years are preparing for University, your third year will be our school's representatives. Please cultivate diligently.

- Thank you, Headmaster. I'll be sure to earn first place for our school.

- No pressure, my dear. University results still matter more than the competition. Alright, go to your class, see how they changed in your absence.

Long Yin went to the 3-E classroom, anticipating how her friends and brother changed. As she entered the class thatbwas waiting for the teacher a commotion enrupted.

- Who is that girl? I don't remember her being in this class?

- Maybe it's a transfer student?

- No, wait, I recognise her, she's Long Yin, the First Ranked in our class!

- First Ranked? Didn't she vanish in first year without getting kicked from class?

Some guy that ascended from Regular class harrumphed.

- Hmph, so what if she was first, one year later she might not be the top anymore, l disagree, I'll challenge her for her rank!

The rest of the class looked at him in pity. He was quite talented, Core Formation 3rd stage, but that was Yin's level when she left, it's ridiculous to think she didn't improve during her absence. Yin raised an eyebrow the proceeded to flatten the whole class with the pressure of her cultivation base. The pressure immediately provoked emotional reaction.

-This! Core Formation 8th Stage! She's indeed a peerless monster, I wonder if she can contend for the top rank.

- There is high chance. I heard current rank one is on the 9th stage and he's the only 9th stage in school.

- Wait isn't the top ten school competition this year? With her representing us the first place is ours!

- Step on me, Goddess Yin!

Yin decided to pretend she didn't hear the last one and took back her pressure. The she looked for Fatty Haon and Rou You. She spotted them looking at her from the back of the class next to an empty table. She sat on the empty chair and engaged in conversation.

- Hello you two how is your training going, how have you been?

- Good, though not as good as yours. The elegant lady Rou broke through to Fifth stage of Core Formation yesterday, while This Fatty is still on the Peak Fourth Stage, though I succeeded in reaching 1st stage of my family technique, granting me the Bronze Boar Body that allows me to ignore attacks below my cultivation level because of its defence.

As they talked Long Tian came up to greet her. He was the only one whose progress she monitored. After the Mid-term challenges he went on a grinding spree, challenging people in ranked matches and doing tasks left and right. Thanks to that he saved up enough merits to greatly boost his cultivation, which showed, as he currently was Early Core Formation Fourth Stage.

Suddenly the class door got busted by energetic Teacher Xiao.

-Alright you maggots! Listen up, you're going to represent the school in a top ten school competition this ear. As such, you're to cultivate diligently, but do not neglect your studies as your knowledge will be graded too and Miss Yin won't be able to help you as she already aced her High School Exams and got University Class Exemption.

Immediately the class erupred into absolute mayhem.

- Oh my god it's third year and she finished university already? What are we compared to her, idiots?

- She's close to the highest cultivation level in school and she was studying! What if she was cultivating instead? I am envy.

- Stop with your stupid idioms and start studying, you imbecile, we can't let Miss Yin down, what if she decides to vent her anger by beating us up?

- Shut up she's sitting right next to us, do you want her to hear?!

- Silence! Enough talking, start preparing instead. Miss Yin, You're free to go, your only mandatory lesson is combat class with Headmaster that the class is going to have once a week on Fridays.

Yin said her farewells to her friend then proceeded to go to the VR class. She had merits to earn, her goal was to go into seclusion until the competition.

First, she went to Trial Tower and redid the challenge. Now that she was only one Stage below the 11th floor alien he didn't stand a chance. She demolished him in 3 hits while listening to the introduction:

- Avian Race. A cultivation galactic empire. Part of Three way Alliance with Human race and Holy race against the tri-racial coalition of Blade Demons, Barbaric Devils and Devil Race. Specialise in using wind to attack with Martial Skills.

On the 12th floor she faced a Humanoid, whose whole body was carved with Light infused tatoos. He was a Golden Core Stage One cultivator.

- Holy Race, a light cultivation civilization. Adept at using light to attack. Allies of human race.

The combat lasted almost a minute as the projection was surprisingly durable. It tried using illusions, but Yin was too fast and hit it before it managed to dodge.

On Thirteenth Floor Yin was faced with gigantic human with body full of black tatoos. He was a Barbarian. They were a bloodthirsty race that cultivated through consuming their opponent's flesh. He was at the Third Stage of Golden Core and Yin found him to be an extremely troublesome opponent. In the end she once again went for the agile solution, and after doding for ten minutes and repeatedly slashing his neck she finally managed to decapitate him.

For completing the Trial Tower she recieved 1500 merits. Next, she went to the Main Pavillon and got her merits for being on the twentieth place in the ranking. She recieved 2400 merits and 36 days of Cultivation in Golden Core Room. She still had 100 merits left from 1st year, totaling at four thousand merits. Next, she left for the Combat Arena.
