A year passed in the blink of an eye. After returning to school Long siblings and their friends were indeed given full nurturing of the school. With permanent access to Golden Core Qi cultivation room, Spiritual Crystals and supplements their cultivation grew by leaps and bounds.
Rou You and Fatty Hao both reached Ninth Stage Peak of Golden Core, while Long Tian surprised everyone by breaking through to Nascent Soul Second Stage. All of that, however, paled in comparison to Long Yin, who reached Peak of Ninth Stage Nascent Soul.
They were currently waiting for the end of graduation school assembly, as Tang San was supposed to tell them how the examination would happen.
An hour later they entered Headmaster's office.
- Hello everyone. I'm glad to see you progressing so fast. As you're here to learn about Galactic University Exams, I'll go straight to the topic. Tomorrow a recruitment starship will be arriving. All students declaring their attendance to Galactic University will have to register there and then be taken away to the exam site. From then, it's up to fate. I hope you all succees in your endeavor, as over the years you bunch definitely became my favourite students I've taught in years. Go to your rooms and prepare whatever you think you'll need.
They each thanked Tang San and said their goodbyes, then went to their rooms to pack.
Next morning they each exited their room and stared at the sky in wonder. Above the planet an enormous starship appeared, easily reaching the length of few hundred kilometres and height of around eighty kilometres. They were approached by Tang San as they stared in wonder.
- Amazing, isn't it? This is imperial-class transport starship. There are four of those, each belonging to one of the Universities. Come, the representative is awaiting you.
They went to the roof, where a man dressed in military uniform, with insignia signifying lieutenant rank pinned on his chest.
- This is your bunch, ah Tang San? Looks like you got a few good saplings this year. I'll make sure to mention it during resource distribution.
He then turned towards the group.
- The transport ship should be arriving soon. Last chance to say your goodbyes.
They nodded, once again thanking Tang San and waving goodbye to other students who came to see them off. Ten minutes later a small transport ship the size of a school gym arrived, a ramp extedibg towards the roof.
They entered inside. Another man was waiting there, holding a set of identity cards.
- Those are access cards to your rooms on the main ship. You're lucky, you're almost the last on the list, we should be finished within three days. The journey towards our destination should take another four days, so you have a week in total before the exam. All necessary supplies will be given by us before the exam so don't worry.
With a loud clang and a powerful shake the ship landed inside the main starship dock. They exited, seeing tens of students from other schools coming from other transporters. They followed along the corridor led by one of the man from transporters, then entered another gigantic hall, filled to the brim with students. The man turned towards them.
- Welcome to the main hall. Here you can meet students from other planets that will be participating in the exams. There's approximately twenty five million of you here. Twenty four million will be eliminated during the exam. Gather here when you hear assembly alarm. If you're not here within ten minutes you'll be eliminated from the exam.
He then left them in the lobby. Aside from few curious looks they were ignored. They decided to go to their rooms to settle first. As it turned out, they had a shared room. They each settled on their bed, then started meditating, adjusting their mental states.
Three days later a siren sounded throughout the ship. They hurried to the main hall. They entered, noting a woman with captain's insignia standing on a podium in the middle of the hall. She waited ten minutes, then started her speech.
- Welcome, maggots to Star Traveller. I'm the Captain of this ship, Liu Yan. There, introductions done. Now it's time to me to enlighten you.
- No matter what your cultivation level is, you are all trash. This trial is to find real talents amongst you. This will be a life or death trial. If you're going to chicken out report to one of the staff.
- The trial will be held on a hybrid planet. As you all know you arr cultivating Qi, also known as pseudo-Vital Qi. To enter Galactic University however, you need to have Astral Qi. The only way to do that is to reach Mortal Transcendence, transform your Qi into true Vital Qi, then use it to attract Astral Qi into your body, advancing to become a Starchild, taking first step towards forming of your Star Dao Body.
- This planet is full of danger and opportunity. Its atmosphere doesn't fully filter out Astral Qi, making it ideal place for cultivation. It is filled with mutant beasts known as Astral Beasts, that range from Golden Core to Astral Adept depenting on the region. You will recieve a map of the regions. Your goal is to hunt the beasts, as their meat will greatly boost your cultivation. You have six months. After six months everyone above Mortal Transcendence passes, followed by lower stages with most kills until we fill the quota of one million. You have four days to report to armory and get a weapon. That will be all, you're dismissed.
The group from #1 High talked about their plans. They decided to get their weapons first. The first to choose was Long Tian. He settled on a sword. Next was Chen Hao. He took a pair of gauntlets. Rou You took a saber. Finally, Long Yin settled on a scythe, as she couldn't find a katana. When she asked, it turned out it was a rare weapon that was mostly made only when ordered so they didn't have one in stock.
Four days later they gathered in hangar once again.
- Those transporters will each take you to your chosen zone. Do not overestimate your strength.
The group looked at each other. It was clear for everyone to see that even Golden Core zone transporters would be filled to the brin, taking days to transport everyone. They nodded at each other, then entered the transporter that stopped in Nascent Soul zone.
The awaiting crew raised an eyebrow then asked:
- Are you sure? Carrying others isn't forbidden, but it will slow you down, we won't accept complaints if you fail to qualify.
Long Yin shrugged, then pulsed her cultivation base. The staff member was instantly stupefied and let them inside without any more comments. After another our of waiting the transporter took off, barely a hundred students inside.
