Chapter 5

"What should we do sheriff?" " keep your eyes peeled and shoot anything that moves." Ben was sweating, he had an itch on his neck that pricked from every distant sound, something like a soft clicking against the tile steps in the distance. Slow and moving with a strange rhythm of three sometimes four of the strange clicks followed by a pause. Followed by a loud blast of a gun, perhaps somebody survived the initial attack the sheriff thought getting ready to take a step towards the darkness when the blast was followed by a spine chilling howl and a man screaming in terror. A scream cut off in the dark emptiness ahead. Nobody could move. Except Ben. whose gun was raised and ready when it reached the doorway, the only way they knew it was there was that it's hair or body was darker than the blackness of the stairwell. It bent under the doorway and stepped through the hallway. It was nearly ten feet tall and it appeared to have been shot in the head. Any normal creature would be dead but this thing. 'Snap out of it.' Ben told himself and took a deep breath. 'It has to be a lunatic in a costume.' "Get the fuck on the ground!'' The monstrous creature lifted it's shoulders as it inhaled a breath and took a step forward. The massive claws on its feet clicking on the tile as it stepped forward. Most of the skull was exposed from whoever wounded it. It had one yellow eye on it's left side that blinked at the sheriff. The right side of its face was almost devoid of flesh and fur but was somehow bare bloody bone. A snarling skull with smoke tracing from bits of buckshot lodged in the thick bone that sat atop a dark monstrous body resembling some ancient, forgotten personification of death. 'Snap the fuck out of it.' Ben told himself again as Cole and Delton raised their guns and fired at the hulking creature with little hesitation. The bullets slowed its movement but it wasn't even stopping. Gina raised the shotgun in her hands, gripping it tightly and fired two rounds into the creature's neck and head blowing away chunks of flesh and fur before reloading. The buckshot had a slightly stronger effect than the handguns but they still failed to stop it. "Why isn't it working?" Delton was clutching his wounds tightly and firing his gun with his free hand, the pain felt unbearable. they were forced to retreat around the corner to the room they originally were holed up in.

"Do you think he toughened up to bullets?" Cole asked Delton as everyone quickly flowed into the room and a chair jammed under the door "the fuck are you talking about Cole?!" "I'm saying what if they adapt you know?" "What?!" "We blew them to pieces! they got back up, Now we can't blow them to pieces! You understand?" "yeah, yeah i think you might be onto something." Delton said nodding in agreement with Coles theory. "but what the fuck should we do? taze it?!" "Delton you're a genius!" the sheriff gave Cole a confused look. "Sheriff, I have an idea!" "Is it good?" Ben asked. "Look earlier Delton and I blew one of these things brains out with a shotgun. Now nothing even seems to break through it." the door smashed again, the metal chair cracking as Cole continued. "It might have adapted to firearms, at least the ones we're packing right now. The creature smashed into the door, not quite taking out the chair under the handel. "What's your point?" "my point is if you, Delton, Bernard and I all taze it at the same time-"

"that's your plan! This is-" "Sir we can't stop it with these rounds! What else can we do? The creature smashed a second time into the door completely taking off the hinges and launching it at the window. "Zap him!" Cole, Bernard and Delton all had their tasers ready as the creature took three steps into the room. Sarah screamed loud and just as Gina was reloading the shotgun, eight metal hooks flew into the creature as all four fired their tasers. Loud popping noises filled the air from the blood vessels and nerves exploding from the electrical overcharge. Around five hundred thousand volts shocked the creature into a twitching mass on the ground. Everyone rushed out the door around it as smoke rose from the twitching monsters body. "Holy shit it worked. "I can't believe that fucking worked!" Delton yelled. "Come on let's go, Now!" the sheriff yelled as the four officers, and the three survivors fled into the hallway and made their way to the stairwell, staying close to one another as they ascended. Ben and Cole lead the way, with Delton and Bernard in the middle while Sarah, Gina and doctor Rosenthal, followed. They ignored the noises as they ascended. The sounds of more of those creatures below. It sounded like they were fighting over a meal at the bottom of the staircase. Nobody wanted to think about how many more of those things were lurking around the hospital. As the group reached the top of the staircase they stopped, readying their weapons not knowing what effect they would have if they came across any more of the creatures. Below they could hear growling along with a slow clicking of it's claws on the brick stairwell.

"Everybody move. Quick and quiet to the elevator now." almost everyone was through the doorway as Ben watched down the stairs. A black fur covered body, vaguely human shaped crawled on all four of it's shaking limbs that twitched and shuddered from the electrical current of the now dead tasers that dragged behind it. It's bony skull was still exposed while two yellow eyes shined through the skull. 'It seems confused and if we are quiet enough we might be able to lose it-' Ben's train of thought was cut off as doctor rosenthal tripped on the final step. It's head pointed upward, locking eyes with Ben for a brief second. "Shit." Ben muttered as he turned, grabbed Rosenthal, threw him over his shoulder and charged for the elevator catching up to the others quickly. The creature was also catching up quickly as the sheriff could hear the tazers banging against the stairwell as it got closer. Everyone was already inside just waiting for the sheriff and Rosenthal. The clanking of the tasers was on the fourth floor as the sheriff reached the elevator and put the old man down and fell to the floor catching his breath as the door closed. Gina pressed the basement button repeatedly and after a few seconds the elevator was slowly moving as Ben picked himself up. Something hard shook the elevator just before it started to descend and everyone let out a momentary cry of panic. After a few moments the elevator stopped shaking but they could still hear the noise above as Bernard spoke up. "You don't think it's-" Bernard was cut off. As a loud crash shook and threw everyone off balance. Ben looked up and the old elevator dial which was next to a digital readout of the floor said they were just reaching the first floor. Everyone screamed as the elevator dropped into the basement.

The orange lights flickered as Ben looked around. "Is everyone okay?" Ben asked, sounding dazed as he picked himself up. The elevator was sitting at an angle as everyone slowly picked themselves up. "Bernard? Cole? Delton?" "were all fine sheriff." Cole responded helping Delton to his feet. Bernard was thrown into the sunken corner. "Gina? Rosenthal? Sarah?" we're fine too, sheriff." Sarah responded for the civilians of the group as she and Gina helped Rosenthal stand and catch his balance. "We've gotta hurry. Cole, help me get this door open." Ben said, taking a limping step towards the doors. He was on one side pushing while Cole pulled from the other. "Wait! What if they're waiting out there for us?" Sarah asked with fear building with the noises growling and snarling from all directions outside the metal box. "they probably are, Gina, Bernard, Delton, keep your guns trained on the door. Try not to hit us. "Cole on three, yank the doors and get against the wall the second it opens. There's a chance the spread of Gina's shotgun could hit one of us if we don't." "got it." "one, two. Three!"

the doors yanked back and the sheriff and Cole pressed their bodies to the walls behind them as silence filled the air for a brief moment. "It's clear." Bernard said, lowering his gun, Delton and Gina lowered theirs too. Everyone flowed out of the elevator, into the empty, dark, dirt floor basement, Beneath the crooked elevator was a pool of blood and a distorted gurgling growling that slowly faded away. The group exited the elevator into the dirt floored concrete walled basement. Ben led everyone out and up the creaking steps, out into the parking lot which to their genuine surprise and fortune was devoid of any more creatures. Gina helped Rosenthal who was the last one out, over the last steps. "Come on. Gina, Rosenthal and Delton you're with me in my squad car. Cole, Bernard and Sarah you take the other squad car. Meet us at the police station." Ben gave his orders and turned the corner quickly with Gina Rosenthal and Delton close behind. Cole led Bernard and Sarah around the corner across from where Ben and the others turned. Everyone stayed Close as Cole raced for his car still parked out front of the hospital as the sheriff's headlights turned on and Cole's soon after. Quickly the two cars were filled with passengers and sped off in opposite directions to avoid too much attention. Most of the town's lights were off. Usually there would be a few places with lights still on but not tonight there was no question that most if not everyone in town had heard the creatures nightmarish howls and cries wafting through the winter air.

There was no sign of any more of the creatures which was a relief. The town looked cold and dead. Cole, Bernard and Sarah reached the station in ten minutes. There was no immediate sign of the sheriff. "Let's get inside and wait. Lock the doors and keep an eye out." Bernard Said but Cole didn't like this one bit, The sheriff should have beat him here. As Cole entered the station he passed Arnold who worked the night shift as receptionist. "Officer Cole, Officer Bernard." he greeted them from behind his desk reading a book. "Arnold have you seen the sheriff?" "No Lydia told me he took off before her shift ended." "Arnold do you know how many people are in the station? "You guys, me, some drunks in lock up. The usual." Arnold licked his finger before turning the page in his book. "It's two in the goddamn morning how many people do you think are gonna be in here?" "that's good. If they follow us we don't have to worry about anyone getting hurt." Now Arnold put his book down. "What did you say?" looking at Cole with confused eyes. Not knowing how to respond Cole and Bernard looked at each other for a moment before Bernard who was scratching his head spoke. "We're kinda being chased by werewolves." there was a moment of silence. Before Arnold who was completely dumbfounded repeated himself. "What did you say?" this time Bernard and Cole both spoke, almost in unison "Werewolves." before they heard a screech come from outside. Cole raced to the Window and saw the Sheriff with Delton and Gina. Rosenthal was gone. The roof to the sheriff's car was destroyed.

The steel shredded and torn and the grill and headlights were soaked in blood. Gina helped Delton up the steps while the Sheriff came up the steps behind them with his revolver ready as he scanned the darkness behind them. Gina and Delton quickly pushed the doors open and stepped inside. Delton looked like he had been wounded even worse as well and Gina's Lip was bleeding as well as her doctor's coat was also spattered with blood. "Delton, Gina what happened?" Ben stepped inside and slammed the doors. "One of the creatures followed us. It got Rosenthal." Gina said breathing hard and fast as she sat Delton down in a waiting chair. "Jesus." Arnold said, coming around his desk to check on Delton. "What the hell is going on here?" "Officer Arnold you are coming with us. Amber is under attack." The thin officer scanned the room and saw they were all serious. "What do you need me to do sir?" "Lockdown the building with Cole. Blast shutters are above all the entrance doors, pull them down and lock them all, Then get anyone you know of that's still in the station to the holding cells."

"W-Why?" Arnold asked, shaking with fear. "So we can survive the night." suddenly the telephone on Arnold's desk began to ring. He returned to his desk and hesitantly answered it. " Hello? Huh? who is this?" Arnold turned to Cole and handed the phone out to him. "Officer Cole it's for you." Arnold said as Cole took the phone and raised it to his ear. "Hello Officer Cole is that you?" "Uhh, who is this?" "Abe, Abe Wilhem the investigator. We met at the Hospital earlier." "Right right what's this about?" "The creatures Cole! It's about the nightmare creatures crawling around in the dark." Abe's response made the hair on Cole's neck stand up. "What do you mean? Do you know what they are? Where they came from?" "I do. At least I think I do. I need you and the Sheriff to go to lake Squire, check out the forest. There's a cabin in the forest officer Cole. West of town. Go in the morning when the creatures are gone." Abe hung up the phone on the other end and Cole was left with the dial tone. "Who was it?" "Ben asked as Cole put the phone down. "That investigator we met at the hospital, Abe. "Who was it?" "Ben asked as Cole put the phone down. "That investigator we met at the hospital, Abe." "What? Why did my father call?" Gina asked, stepping towards Cole. "what did he say?" "He said we'll find whoevers behind this at a Cabin in the woods behind Lake Squire. "No." she muttered looking off at the ground. "No what Gina?" "it's… it's nothing."

"that didn't sound like nothing. You sure?" "I said it's nothing!" Gina yelled and shook her head in a look of confusion before going to sit next to Delton who was struggling to stay awake. Ginas thought's raced. 'Why would dad tell them about our cabin? How was it important? No one had even been there since the accident with her brother, Gerald. Almost ten years ago.' "Gina, you're a doctor, how bad does this look." Delton spoke raspilly and with a disoriented slur in his voice. "Show me the wound." she asked as he attempted to straighten his back as he lifted the police uniform. Blood had dried to his chest and the wound was outlined with an unsettling dark green. Delton claimed the wound had gone numb at some point and was growing worried. "Sheriff do you have any disinfectant? Or a first aid kit around here?" "yeah." Ben said, turning from his hushed conversation with officers Cole and Bernard to point at Arnolds desk, that's when Arnold spoke up. "That's right, there should be a first aid kit under my desk. I'll go get it." Arnold said squeamishly as he did so. "Do you need any help?" Arnold asked Gina again, still sounding squeamish as Delton took his badge and radio off the uniform which was quite shredded and put them on the desk before throwing the torn shirt in the trash can. "You can find me a smoke." Delton said, looking very pale. Ben pulled out his pack and handed him one. "You gonna be okay?" The scratch was green and soaked with pus, the blood had dried around Delton's waist which felt numb now. Delton lit the smoke and the sheriff looked outside. There was no sign of the creatures but their howls and groans could just barely be heard in the distant wind. Gina opened the first aid kit and pulled out a roll of gauze and wrapped it around Delton's wound. In her seven years of practicing medicine, not once had she seen an animal attack look like this.

"Delton what did this?" Gina asked in astonishment. "One of those monsters." Delton said looking at the ground as Cole pulled down and locked the first shutter, bringing down the thick metal shutter over the doors they entered. Everyone stayed in the Lobby of the station as Cole made his way down the well lit corridor with his gun drawn. In the distance, through the cracked window he could hear howls contorted with screams. The unnatural creatures were still prowling the streets. Possibly searching for them still, or anyone else unfortunate enough to be caught outside tonight.

Meanwhile on the far west side of Amber at a bar called The Emerald, music was blasting, drinks were being served and nobody was aware of the noises outside except a man named Greg Winslow who went outside for a cigarette and never came back inside. Everyone inside was too drunk to notice he never returned. Benny was beyond drunk, staring up at the tall bouncer. "Come oooon bro." "sorry Benny you've been warned about getting this fucked up. You bother people." "come o-" "no Benny, you come on." the tall black shirted bouncer grabbed Benny by his shirt and dragged him to the door. The bouncer pushed the door open as Benny struggled and punched the bouncer in the face. "Bad mistake Ben." the bouncer said landing a solid punch to Benny's nose which was bloodied easily from the hit, as the bouncer kicked the door open and threw Benny into a trashcan. "Yeah fuck you too!" he said rolling over the bent metal can but the door had already closed.

Benny stood up and heard a noise like a branch breaking coming from his left, only there were no trees around, and the noise didn't stop. "What the hell?" he slurred and stumbled to his feet. Benny heard snoring coming from behind the car next to him. "Greg is that you?" Benny asked stumbling around to find the source of the snoring. "Greg…" the name fell out of Benny's mouth in a whimper as he realized that what he heard wasn't snoring but growling. Greg Winslow's beige leather jacket was shredded as a black shape rose from Greg Winslow's torso covered in blood and flesh and bone. "Benny turned and ran back to the bar, swinging the door open. "What the fuck do you think you-" the bouncer tried to stop Benny but was thrown off his balance as Benny shoved him backwards over a table. Benny could hear the monster snarling behind him just outside. He wasted no time. Benny ran through the bar and down the hallway towards the back door. As he opened it he heard the bar patrons scream as Benny opened and slammed the door behind him cutting off the screams. Inside the bar, just as the Bouncer was picking himself up he was deafened by screams around him as he was picked up by his throat. A massive creature covered in long black hair stared into the bouncer with bloodshot yellow eyes as it tore out his throat which had been too petrified with fear to join in with the other screams.

The creature dropped the corpse of the bouncer to the ground and began swinging blade-like claws at the patrons trying to get around the creature and out the front door. One woman tried to crawl between its legs amidst the chaos but it was no use. Her fear tripled as a cold hairy hand wrapped around her leg and pulled her up. The woman screamed at the sight of the creature's eyes. With tears flowing from her upside down head to the ground the woman tried to pray but as the first words left her mouth she felt the creatures other arm wrap around her head. Panic overwhelmed her as her scream twisted, and contorted as her vocal chords were shredded and her head twisted off. The creature dropped her body and started for the last survivors callously banging on the back door with little hope. Benny rolled the massive green trashcan in front of the back door to buy him some time. That's when he heard the patrons screaming inside. "Help! Please open the d-" the voice cut off as Benny turned and ran through the dark alley. He could see the opening to the street maybe twenty feet ahead of him. He sprinted as hard as he could, his breathing strained as he made the fatal mistake of checking for the monsters. Benny turned his head back for a moment, not noticing the pot hole in the alley his left foot fell inside the foot and a half hole and screamed as his ankle broke from the force. Benny tried to crawl not wanting to see whatever was going to rip him to pieces. His heart raced and he tensed as the light from the end of the alleyway disappeared. In front of him were massive thick black boots. 'another human thank god.' Benny thought as he started to raise his head. Whoever it was they were wearing a long black trench coat. The leather near the bottom of the coat was torn and frayed. "Please you have to help me."

Benny looked up and could only see the brim of the man's hat. Before looking down at Benny with eyes as yellow as the creature that ate Greg Winslow and the other people at The Emerald. "What the-" Benny felt a gloved hand wrap around his neck and pull him to his feet. "Please don't-" Benny could hear the creature behind him but he couldn't take his eyes off this giant's yellow stare. It looked like he had some kind of leprosy. His skin was dark grey, bald, the tall collar of his coat covered everything below his yellow eyes It looked like a corpse staring down at him. Benny tried to step backwards but forgot about his foot and stumbled backwards. Falling into the hairy chest of one of the creatures waiting behind him. It snarled and pushed him forward knocking him back on the concrete. "Who are you? What do you want?" Benny slurred, still very drunk. The figure knelt down to Benny and spoke. In a language he didn't know. The words came from the humanoid creature's mouth like a spell. "Vae Victus." it said in a raspy voice and Benny's vision started to blur and he passed from consciousness. The leather covered Giant picked up Benny and put him over his shoulder and walked off, the creature staying close, watching from the darkness as Benny was thrown into the bed of a large black pickup truck. The giant got inside the driver seat shifting the truck as it settled in it's seat and drove west, towards lake squire.

Meanwhile a few blocks away Abe Wilhem was at his home a quaint one story house filled with stacks of books on whatever flat surface there was. Abe was frantically running around to fill his briefcase, a few of the books, a couple file folders, a thirty eight revolver and a family portrait of Abe, Gina and a young native man with a buzzcut, everyone had a hopeful smile in the happy picture. Abe looked at it longingly before slamming the briefcase and picking up his telephone and calling the police station to let them know of his findings. He had investigated the Nocturnis Infernis in Amber, avoiding the cries of the creatures. Through bribes and a few broken fingers he finally found what he was looking for. The reason they came back. The power to control and shift oneself. Abe stumbled over a stack of his books on his way to the front door. He stopped for a moment and checked the peephole in the door for any creatures on the other side. He couldn't see them, and what howls he could hear were far in the distance. Abraham Wilhem was a man in his golden years as his daughter frequently put it. His body ached with years of built up pain, he pushed it out of his mind and made his way to his car in the dark night as he straightened his fedora on his bald head. He quickly got inside, locked the door and took a deep breath as he fished the revolver out of his briefcase and placed it on the passenger seat. Abe put the keys in the ignition and turned on the car. When the headlights came on Abes heart raced. Two of the dark creatures bent over a corpse in the darkness turned towards his headlights, snarling as they came on.

"Shit." the old man grunted as he threw the car in reverse plowing backwards through the parking lot before throwing the wheel left, the car spun and put the car in forward as he plowed down the street. Not checking his mirrors, Abe's beat up old car raced towards the police station. He needed to show them where it was, they wouldn't be able to find the cabin without his help and he knew who they would find there. He didn't want to be right but the evidence only pointed to one person. Abe cleared his thoughts as he let out a breath. The creatures were long gone from the distant sound of their howls. If he could just make it to the station, warn the others. The streets were completely empty except for figures trying to hide, creatures in the shadows, on the rooftops. Their eyes glistening in Abe's vision though he ignored them. The station was the priority. Abe swung a hard left in his car and ran over one of the creatures, momentarily losing control of his car, nearly crashing into a streetlight before straightening out the car.

He looked through the rearview mirror to see the creature struggling to it's legs. "There's too many of them. Those creatures are everywhere!" he yelled to nobody but himself as the police station's clocktower came into view ahead of him. "Come on." Abe said through gritted teeth as he laid his foot down hard on the gas pedal, his speed climbing fast, to nearly hundred and ten miles per hour. "Come on!" Abe shouted. Another creature was on the road. This time the car was going too fast to just crash into the creature. "Come on you motherfucker!" Abe floored on the gas and the car plowed through the creature in a bloody hairy mess. That shook the car. The suspension was rocking on his left. A piece of the creature was jammed in the axle as the car spun out again, this time there was no regaining control. Abe's car slammed into a police car and his head was spinning. The old man shook it off and slammed his door hard but it was stuck. Abe crashed into the door with his shoulder and it fell off completely hitting the snowy street. Abe grabbed his gun and suitcase and stepped outside and could see he was at the station. The creatures that saw him were surely on his trail still. Abe did a quick spin to observe his surroundings for those glistening yellow eyes. 'Nothing, good' he said catching his breath as he made his way up the steps to the door but there was a metal shutter in the way. "Hey! Open the shutter! Let me in!"

his voice barely penetrated the metal. That's when he looked around observing his surroundings again. One of the monsters was crawling up the steps behind him. Abe took aim and unloaded six shots into the creature. "Somebody open this fucking door!" Abe screamed pulling out a speed loader from his jacket and dumped the shells from his gun on the ground and loaded the fresh ones. Abe snapped the chamber shut and cocked the hammer. The creature's lips pulled back baring its teeth as its eyes widened. It's arms stretched outward with long claws and let out a roar. "AAAGGHHH!" Abe screamed back at the creature as he pulled the trigger. Within seconds the shutter flew up behind him and he heard a deep voice yell "Get down!" Abe hit the deck as the air was filled with the sound of automatic gunfire as the creature's body jolted and shook from each shot. After nearly a hundred rounds the monster crashed backwards down the steps, Abe scrambled to his feet as the sheriff and Cole waved him through the door, closing and locking the shutter behind him. "Are you okay?" the sheriff asked. "I'm fine, sheriff." "Why did you come here? It's dangerous, you said it yourself Abe." "the cabin. I need to help you find it." "you said to look in the morning. I thought that's what you wanted us to do?" "I did, but it's too dangerous. Those things are growing powerful, the Nocturnis Infernis is losing their patience looking for it." there was a pause in the lobby. Delton was unconscious and Gina, Sarah and Arnold were watching him. When she saw her father she ran to him and hugged him "Dad you're alright!" Cole Bernard and the Gina helped abe over to the waiting room chairs

Abe put his suitcase on the waiting room table. And opened it. He handed the folders to the sheriff. The sheriff opened them. There were torn out journal entries from the cultists. Looking for something near lake Squire. Photos of rituals including pentagrams, and human and animal sacrifices. "I know what they want." "what are they looking for, Abe?" "Who. Who are they looking for?" Abe pulled the family photo from his briefcase and pointed to the boy. "My son Gerald." Ginas eyes lit up and her jaw dropped. "Dad what do you mean? Why would they want Gerald, he's-" "Dead? Your brother disappeared, his body was never found." "what makes you think he's alive. "One of those journal entries isn't from the cult. It's signed by Gerald, and dated last month." Abe took the folder and sifted through the sheets until he found what he was looking for and pulled out the thin piece of lined paper for the sheriff to read. The writing was messy but legible. It read as follows "September Thirteenth 2020, Journal of Gerald Wilhem. The changes if natural would not harm my body. The more… creative the changes get, the more severe my condition progresses. I've taken a man from the town of Amber, Lukas Baker. He is the first of my experiments. The power of the Shifted knows no bounds yet it punishes me for my crimes against both humanity and nature itself. To become something that should not be has left me deformed. To become a werewolf with the power I've mastered was a test of hubris and I failed but that no longer means anything to me anymore. My transformation though successful, left blending into the public impossible. I created a curse, spread it to Baker and sent him back into the town of Amber. By the full moon he should be changed like I was, though his humanity will be more intact. Soon the Nocturnis Infernis will have the power they want, breathing down their necks. They cannot comprehend the curse of the-"

the writing cut off at the bottom. "The rest of his Journal is at the cabin. I didn't want him noticing the whole journal gone or he could have abandoned the cabin for a new hideout." Ben gave the journal page back to Abe who put it and the folders back in the suitcase. "My son created those things. If… If we can kill him, we could stop all this. "And you're sure he's at this cabin?" Ben asked. "Positive." Abe replied. "Everyone come with me to the garage, We'll hit up the armory again and then take a swat truck out to the cabin. Sarah, Gina and Arnold you stay here and watch Delton. "I'm not letting my father go without me!" Gina yelled. "Gina, it's too dangerous. Your brother isn't himself! He hasn't been for a very long time!" "I don't care! If Geralds alive I want to see him! Maybe we can help him." "Gina I'm sorry but it's just too dangerous." "Dad, I'm going with you." Abe exchanged a look of concern with the sheriff who spoke to Gina "Gina, you are the only doctor we have. If Deltons condition gets worse he could die tonight. Please, we need you to stay with him." Ben pleaded with Gina who looked at Delton. He was unconscious and sweating dangerously, his bandages were leaking a mix of blood and some strange yellow fluid that stunk of bile.

Gina let out a sigh. "I'll stay with him." she said. Arnold and Sarah cleared out the linen room around the corner for supplies to clean Deltons wound. While Gina stayed with him to watch his condition. While Ben, Bernard, Cole and Abe made their way out of the well lit lobby down the dark unlit hallway. Cole shut off the lights to avoid drawing attention from outside the large windows. Everyone hugged the walls as far from the windows as they followed the sheriff down the dark hallways. "Cole, Bernard. Go find some more firepower in the armory, meet us in the garage and load into the swat truck." "On it sir." The two officers split off from the group down the dark hall and made their way to the armory by memory. They knew the turns even in the dark. Once they reached it they turned on the light in the windowless room filled with gun racks. Cole loaded three shotguns and two automatic rifles into a duffle bag, followed by several boxes of ammo. "Grab those too." Cole said pointing at a bandolier of hand grenades hanging from the wall. "We're gonna need them."
