CHAPTER 3

Kelly awoke with a jolt, she had had a nightmare. Her first one that happened naturally and not from watching an horror movie the night before. But then, wasn't her life a horror movie?

The bedside clock read 3:33 am but Kelly was fully awake. The nightmare had wiped any form of sleepiness off her eyes. She had been falling into a deep, totally dark pit and when she finally hit the ground or so she thought, she was looking into the eyes of a monster, it looked so real and so fake at the same time. Blood was dripping down it's mouth and when it smiled at her, a sinister type of smile, his bloodied fangs were on full display. She had looked to the side and what she saw made her go pale. There, on the ground were the bodies of her parents and sisters, they were decapitated and it looked as though they had been tossed to the floor carelessly. Her brother, Kevin, was hanging on a thread-like rope, for dear life. The monster had leaned close to her, displaying it's fangs and not until he leaned in to bite her head off did she wake up.

Kelly was scared shitless, she busied herself by going to her closet and picking out the clothes she would wear for the day. A maroon coloured long sleeved top and washed jeans that would be paired with vans. After that, she went to the bathroom and did her business.

It was 4:30 am when Kelly glanced at the clock and she was fully dressed, she had put her books in her bag and was ready for school. She decided to straighten her hair to while away time. Her blond hair reminded her of her dad and she sighed pulling at it to separate the tangles.

Hair straightened, fully clothed and prepared for school, Kelly looked at the clock. It was 4:45 am. She sighed and walked out of the room, she might as well have breakfast early. She made herself a bowl of cereal and sat at the dining table to eat. She didn't have the appetite though. Her head was occupied by the images from her nightmare and the fact that her family were dead -except for Kevin-, while her mind was filled with thoughts on how the day would go. It was the beginning of senior year and Kelly was very nervous about it, she wanted to get a scholarship to college but with all of these things that had happened which caused her to be constantly distracted, she doubted she'd get one.

With a racing heart, Kelly forced herself to eat, she didn't want to waste food. She leaned her head against the table and closed her eyes waiting for Paris and Asher to get ready.

*************

Paris Rogers was a very beautiful girl and she knew it, she was a popular and on the cheer leading team in her school. Her crush of  two years was Lloyd Storm, the quarterback of the school's football team. He had a lean athletic build, a pair of very attractive stormy grey eyes that sometimes look blue, black curly hair and a very nice smile that matched his face so well. Paris had fallen in love with his smile the very first day she saw him and since then, her crush on him only grew bigger. Nobody else knows about her crush except her best friend Jacqueline Royal.

Jacqueline Royal was the daughter of a very successful businessman in Nebraska and Jacqueline never failed to flaunt that fact. She loved fashion - something she and Paris had in common - and wanted to be a model in the future. She was the head of the cheer leading team and a total bitch to everyone and anyone.

As Paris put on her clothes, she couldn't help but wonder how Senior year would go, even though she was never serious with school. She never liked the place, it felt like prison to her but she did have great friends, or so she thought.

She applied her make up and looked at herself in the mirror. She was wearing a bright pink long sleeved crop top and jeans ripped at the knees, paired with white sneakers and a face full of make up. Her light brown hair was in waves and her nails were freshly painted too, in bright pink. She had spent hours on her dressing and finally walked down the stairs when she was done.

Kelly was sitting in the chair, staring down at her phone.

"Hey, good morning." Paris said to her as she walked down the last stair.

"Hi. Morning." Kelly said giving a slight smile and wincing at Paris' choice of colour.

'Bright pink, really?' Kelly wanted to tell her but kept shut instead. She didn't want to get on her bad side.

Paris made herself a bowl of cereal and began eating, telling Kelly all about her friends and how she was on the cheerleading team.

"You should try out." Paris told her.

"Nah, I'm good." Kelly replied and looked at the time, it was 7: 32 am.

"Doesn't school start by 8?" She asked.

"Yeah but we have to wait for Asher. He's our ride."

"Okay." She said then went back to her phone.

**************

Asher Rogers was Paris' twin brother, they were both populars in their school and he enjoyed the fame. But while Paris hated school, he actually liked it. He really wanted to be a surgeon in the future.

He was the runningback of the football team and was good friends with Lloyd Storm, the quarterback. His 'girlfriend' Jacqueline Royal was his sister's best friend and although they might look like a lovely couple, Asher didn't exactly like her. He was only dating her because of popularity. That seemed like the normal thing to do, it was either the quarterback and the head cheerleader or the runningback and the head cheerleader.

He brushed through his thick brown hair and applied enough gel. He was wearing a blue checked shirt with its sleeved rolled up to his elbows, his dark grey shirt was peeking out from underneath as he had left the two buttons at the top open. His lean muscles flexed as he sprayed his cologne and grabbed his bag from it's position on the bean bag in his room. He glanced briefly at the mirror and smiled in satisfaction before heading out.

He didn't like waiting, heck he hated it and that was what caused fight between him and Jacqueline most times. And as he went down the stairs, he hoped the two girls were already there. He sighed as he got down and saw them talking about God-knows-what.

"Morning." He said and picked an apple from the fruit basket, biting into it immediately and walked out as the girls replied.

He unlocked the car and got in. It was a black sports car that he adored so much. And as the girls shuffled in, he rambled on about his overly long car rules. Kelly sat in the backseat while Paris sat in the passenger seat and as soon as they got in, Asher turned on the ignition and they started out.

***************

10 minutes later, the school was in full view. Kelly was nervous as hell, her heart was beating fast and her palms were sweaty. She wiped them on her jeans, to get the clamminess away.

"You ready?" Paris asked her.

"Y-y-yeah." She stuttered.

"C'mon you'll be fine. Let's go." Asher said.

That was the first time he had spoken directly to her and she smiled slightly, still nervous.

'Let's get this over with.' She told herself and picked up her back, exiting the car.
