Chapter 10: A nonsense

Lynx walked to the observatory room and then sat on the chair where Kevin sat previously. He had a very conflicted expression.

'What is the goal of the professor, I waited for him to make a move after I was captured but he didn't do anything... What is he thinking? Is he trying to betray me now? No, I don't think so, but what is he trying to achieve?' Lynx became anxious.

'Tch I lost my cool for a while... I need to regain my composure... Considering that I let these people go, I guess they called for some reinforcement... They won't call the DOID though... However, they have faith in their boss and assumed that he will win... The true battle will begin when I go out of this room. I don't know what is the professor thinking but I still have something to do here...' Lynx showed a determined face after he regained his composure.

He took off his shirt and made three holes on it then covered his face with it.

"Let's end this..."

Lynx prepared himself for the battle.

As Lynx guessed, many enemies we're waiting for him outside of the room.

Two-level 9, three-level 8, and five-level 7. These individuals stood out from the rest which was at least a hundred of gifted people.

The place wasn't a normal love hotel at all. It was too overprotected.

Lynx stood at the other side of the observatory room's door. Then he used power to destroy the door.

"Hein?"

As expected, a bunch of people was waiting for him outside fully prepared. Seeing Lynx, they were shocked and one them yelled "Kill him!!!"

One of them used ice to freeze the ground, the entire observatory room, and the isolation cell in order to prevent Lynx from escaping since they didn't know about Lynx's power. That happened very quickly. The ice master had the power of water creation: Ice. She was a woman with black hair and pitch-black eyes.

Lynx protect himself using his corrosion ability and turned the ground in front of him and all the way outside into dust. The walls were just suspended by the cellar but their lower part crumbled along with the ground who turned into sand.

Those who remarked Lynx attack jumped but those who didn't lose their legs. Most of the small fries fell in Lynx's attack.

"Keke... This guy is interesting..." The huge guy wearing a big white shirt, black shorts and huge shoes talked. He had a cheerful face.

Lynx's ability was fearful but the huge guy turned his body into diamond and punched the ground with a phenomenal power which blew away the dust that Lynx created along with one who lost their legs. The guy had the power of mineral creation: Diamond.

Lynx's field of vision was hindered and before he knew it, the three-level 8 electro master was already around him. It took only a second and Lynx was on verge of the death. Regardless, Lynx already had many void spaces around him and deactivated them instantly.

The part of the bodies of the electro masters fell everywhere on the ground and their blood covered Lynx's body.

"Hahaha... This guy is insane..." One of level 7 talked.

The five-level 7 had the power of mental control: size, metal control: shape, water control, Fire creation, and Fire control.

"Hahaha... It will be fun..." The one who controlled fire added.

Lynx was almost at his limit. He used his power too much. He might be overpowered but his body couldn't keep up with his power. Lynx was already out of breath.

The one with the power to control metal size threw five metal balls at Lynx then changed the size halfway. The metal balls grew bigger as they approached Lynx.

Lynx hit his limit, he reached his hand and said "Disappear!" He then created a void space, big enough to engulf half of the lower part of the buildings.

All of the enemies disappeared with it and even the people inside of the buildings.

Lynx head ached as he fell down on his knees. He trained before and knew his limits but he shouldn't have been tired that early. That was probably because his state of mind during the battle was different from his normal state of mind. He had an internal conflict against the feeling that he tried to suppress.

He was probably unconsciously sacred to use his power on a large scale.

Lynx stood up slowly as his head continued to aches. He was on the verge of passing out.

Then someone held him from behind.

"So you were here huh..." The professor said.

People began to gather around and the building was on verge of collapsing.

Lynx and the professor were in the basement, a hidden room of the building. That was the place where Lynx was.

Lynx passed out.

What happened couldn't even be called a battle. Lynx was just going wild without purpose.

The professor saved him from the worst scenario. Everything didn't go as he thought it will. Of course, it didn't because if something like this was easy, then the world would have been saved a long time ago.

Lynx's goal and ambitions along with his selfishness were just a bunch of nonsense in face of the reality.

He had a nightmare where all of the people who died during the inside of 7 years ago haunted him. Mostly, the girl that he failed to protect because he was scared of himself and his power.

'Who am I?' Lynx thought as the tears flew down on his checks.

Lynx regained consciousness after a certain time.

"You are not ready at all Lynx... You thought that everything would have been easy?"

The professor was sitting on a chair next to Lynx. He was looking at Lynx who was Lying on a bed.

"Where am I? What happened?" Lynx asked with a powerless voice.

"Look at you Hmph... You talk like you can do anything but you are just a child with a bazooka who tried to rob a bank. You destroy the things around you and even yourself... I am glad I sent you there before the real deal... Else you would have been dead by now... A God my ass, you are just a helpless sinner..." The professor mocked Lynx.

Fortunately, the professor planned everything. It looked like Lynx made some miscalculations, including his own limits. His kind heart was his last weakness but it was the cause of his choices too. His kindness turned him into a man who wants to save everyone at all costs. However, something like that can't be done by a kind-hearted man.

"I held you for four years because I couldn't let you go wild outside... I knew about your wicked personality and your true intentions which are ridiculous... Did you really think that I accepted to work with you just because of what you said? Well, that might be true but I just found you interesting as a subject of observation... " The professor talked with a serious voice.

"That disaster from 7 years ago, I made a little investigation about it..." The professor added.

It looked like Lynx was the one who didn't know anything.

The professor already had something planned soon after their first encounter.

"Lynx, you can not save anyone the way you are now... You are just blinded by the urge to kill... Even today, you forgot about Liza at some point... Lynx, what do you really want to do?" The professor asked.

"Well I..I... I.." Lynx didn't know what to say.

"You will do the last mission after this, your first act as an avenger then we are done... You need to graduate and go see the world for yourself... Then you will see if you can save everyone or not... We are done playing superhero and you learned everything that you need to learn by now... You can't runway from reality forever... I already registered you at the University, you will begin class next week... I already did my part by helping you all of these years, it's your time to help yourself..."

"...." Lynx didn't say a word and listened quietly. He already knew that everything was just his imagination and no one would have been saved even if he succeeded. However, he just wanted to do something. He just wanted to become someone because he felt like he didn't have a place in the world. Avoided by everyone because of his power, and avoided by everyone because he didn't use his power. He built a personality that was strong and fearless and can save everyone without difficulty inside of his head.

Lynx was a just helpless person.

The professor knew that since the day they met.

"My daughter is there too... Take of her if you meet her... She is a sweet girl..."

The professor didn't explain to Lynx the details but many things happened when Lynx passed out.

"I will finish my last mission today..." Lynx talked.

The professor looked at Lynx with serious eyes then said "So you've made up your mind huh...There is something that I must say to you before that..."
