Chapter 17 - Spend the Night

It was still morning when Mumut opened her eyes. At first, she was a little confused when she looked around her, but when she saw her mother lying on the bed next to her, Mumut remembered everything. Last night, after returning from Bian's mother's house, Mumut asked Bian to take her to the hospital to accompany her mother. Mumut was very grateful that Bian hired several professional nurses to help take care of her mother. Mumut looked at the clock that read three and fifteen minutes. She saw her mother and the nurse that Bian hired were still asleep.

Mumut slowly got up from her bed. She didn't want the nurse, who was sleeping beside her, to wake up. Mumut stepped into the bathroom to perform ablution, then she took the mukena in her bag and started praying. Afterward, Mumut continued with a prayer. She knelt solemnly to pray for her mother's recovery, and the problems that she faced until the dawn call to prayer was heard. After the dawn prayer, Mumut returned to her knees in prayer. Mumut stopped when she heard her mother's voice asking for a drink. Mumut immediately stood up and took off her mukena. But when she turned around, she saw Muna, the nurse hired by Bian, had already given her mother a drink.

"Thank you, Muna." Mumut smiled. She stepped back to fold her mukena and put it in the bag.

"You're welcome. It is my job. Don't feel shy," said the nurse.

"Thanks too, child," Mother's weak voice made Muna smile.

It was getting bright as the sunlight peeked into her mother's ward. Mumut opened the curtains and turned off the lights in the room. Suddenly Mumut remembered something. She immediately took out her cell phone, searched in her contact list, and pressed the dial button.

"Hello, Harti ..." she said as soon as the call was connected.

"Yes, Mut. Can I help you?" asked Harti from the other end.

Mumut asked for permission to take a day off today to wait on her mother.

"Yes, don't think about it. Yesterday, Mr. Randy said that you had asked him to take a week's leave starting from the day, and he approved it," Harti took a deep breath, "How is your mom, Mut?"

"Thank God, she went through the surgery yesterday, now she's in the healing process," Mumut said.

"Thank goodness, sorry I haven't had time to visit."

"It's alright, Sis. Please pray for her. That should be enough."

"Okay, Mut, I hope she will get well soon, huh,"

"Thank you."

Mumut hung up the call.

Mumut was silent for a long time. She didn't expect her friends to visit her mother because if they found out that her mother stayed at the pavilion ward, it would have caused a stir.

"Mut, you stay here, huh?" a voice startled her. Mumut turned and saw Mrs. Wati had entered the room.

"Yes, ma'am," replied Mumut with a smile.

"Earlier, I was searching for your mother in the third-class ward, but it turns out that your mother was placed here," Mrs. Wati looked at the luxurious interior of the room. She couldn't assess the price of the room.

Shortly afterward, a doctor and a nurse entered the room. The doctor examined Mumut's mother closely and asked for any complaints. Mumut's mother answered weakly. The doctor noted something in Mumut's mother's status and then gave it to the nurse. That was when Bian and Randy came into the room, and they immediately spoke with the doctor who checked up on Mumut's mother. Bian and Randy nodded at the doctor's explanation.

Mrs. Wati and the nurse who accompanied the doctor were amazed at the two sturdy and handsome men. One looked very cold, while the other seemed very warm because of the smile that always perched on his lips.

"Who are they, Mut?" Mrs. Wati could not hide her curiosity while the nurse asked Muna.

Mumut just smiled. She didn't know what to answer.
