Rainbow

I couldn't see colours

I saw black and white

I was a runner

I was afraid to see the light

I was stuck in a cave

Where I couldn't see

The dark clouds lasted for days

I didn't know how to be me

Everything looked dull

Nothing felt alright

My stubbornness was hard like a skull

I refused to fight

I didn't know the meaning of living

I taught it only meant being alive

I had one goal

Which was becoming very old

I decided to explore

To find something more

I needed to find a new branch

I needed to change

I came out of that cave

I decided to be brave

Outside was a beauty

It was pure diamond and rubies

I found a flower that bloomed

One that smelled sweet as perfume

I saw trees

Lovely buzzing bumblebees

Most importantly I saw you

You brought something new

A different perspective on life

You taught me how to survive

But most importantly how to fight

I learned how to hang on

Not to run away when things go wrong

I saw a change within me

A part of me that learned how to let go and be free

I saw rainbows in the sky

That taught me it's okay to cry

Because after the rain

There goes the pain

After the tears are dried

You showed me that you'll always be by my side

And I am thankful

I remain humbly grateful

For having you in my life
