Annual Business Summit (Part 3)

With the party at its peak, a gorgeous looking woman walked up the dais at the center of the main hall with a microphone in her hand. With just her beauty alone, she was able to gather the attention of many who attended the party.

Slightly tapping on her mic, everyone turned towards with anticipation. Some journalists, who were granted special permission to attend the party, grabbed their cameras and waited for the biggest revolution to happen.

"Welcome everyone, my name is Elizabeth and today is a very important day to not only us, but for everyone in the world who are watching us today. Without further delay, for our first event I would like to call up the CEO of DW-Industries, Mr. Aaron!"

Soon everyone's eyes remained glued towards Aaron as he walked up to the stage with a smile on his face. If one were to notice extremely closely, his smile seemed forced. His palms were sweaty and his entire being screamed in fear. Why? Because the man whom he feared the most was present in this party.

During the farce earlier with Indra and Maria, Aaron slowly escaped when he saw Indra's terrifying aura. Since most of the people were ordinary mortals, none were able to see his speed. Winston included.

It was only when he had found Aaron standing in the corner suspiciously, was when walked back to attend the party. All in all, he wanted to escape from this hell hole.

When he saw Maria look back at him with a confident smile, he slightly sighed in relief. He was aware that Indra would not cause commotion, as it would only hurt him and his company. Nonetheless, he kept his guard up around him as he did not want to get anywhere close to him.

When his name was mentioned, Aaron slowly walked up the dais and waited for the two important people to arrive. As soon as their names were mentioned, an old looking man and a slightly younger looking woman walked up with a file in their hands. Elizabeth then handed the mic over to the old man and took a few steps back.

Holding the mic in his hands, the old man cleared his throat and opened the file within his hands and read the contents within it out aloud.

"DW-Industries not only managed to pass the trial testing of drugs, but it also managed to pass human trials guaranteeing a success rate of eighty five percent. While the remaining fifteen percent is dependent on the underlying conditions of those who ingest the drug, it has managed to implement successful results for the remaining people.

As of today, the Federal Drug Association approves the usage of the Dem drug and it will soon be supplied within hospitals and other pharmaceutical companies. Only upon receiving permission from the doctor can this drug be ingested. That is all. Thank you for this great discovery Mr. Aaron and all the very best."

Thunderous claps resounded within the hall as many people observed Aaron shaking hands with the FDA director. Everyone but Indra and Alice cheered for the new invention which was bound to shake the world.

"This is nothing but a scheme. Indra, I'm sure they have something else in mind." Alice had a terrible premonition as she imagined the day these medicines would spread around the world. Indra remained quiet as he too agreed with what she stated earlier. Indra knew it all along. He knew all of the plans Maria and Aaron cooked up.

"We must not allow that to happen, no matter what it takes, we must stop the people from ingesting Dem drug."

"I'm aware as well, but how are we going to though? More importantly how are we going to prove it to the FDA and the people?" Alice quivered as she clenched her dress tightly in frustration.

Despite the improvement in her healing abilities back when she saved Walter during the underground tournament, it take all her energy to calm Walter from going insane. She was very close to ascending Cosmic Realm. With her current level of power, let alone the entire world, she was unsure if she could save even one person with her abilities.

She had explicitly witnessed the horror when many people slowly turned insane from the drug. That was just the prototype. If a prototype was able to deal such devastating consequences, she was unable to imagine the damage the new drug would cause. Aware of her change in emotions, Indra grabbed her hand softly and smiled at her.

"Alice, just calm down. I have a plan for this, and I will surely put an end to this."

"But-" Before she could reply, she was shut down by Indra as he turned towards her and looked her in the eye.

"Do you trust me?" When she looked into his eyes, she stopped quivering and nodded immediately. Unknowingly, her quivering disappeared as she instinctively knew she could trust the man in front of her with all her heart.

"That's good because I plan to make things right. I'm not going to let more people suffer." He said firmly. Alice smiled before frowning again.

"But Indra, how do you know Ariam and why did you call her Maria?" Indra let go of Alice's hand as he closed his eyes in disappointment.

It was a topic which he never wanted to discuss. It was a painful memory which he thought he had let go back when he entered the purple door. He cried that day until no tears were left. When his sister reappeared again after many years, he had expected her to change.

In the end, it was he who was foolish for believing such wild fantasies.

Alice finally realized, it was a matter which she shouldn't have asked. Yet, she wanted to know more about Indra. Her heart slightly ached when she noticed sadness and traces of disappointment in his eyes. She wanted to be there for him. Especially during moments like these.

"I apologize if I crossed the line." Indra shook his head as he returned to his usual calm demeanor.

"Not at all Alice. I know you asked out of sincerity, and I appreciate that. I'm sorry but please give me some time. When the time comes, I will tell you and the others all about myself."

"It does not matter how long it takes, I will be waiting. No matter what happens, we are all here for you." Alice smiled, surprising Indra for several moments.

Smiling back at her, his heart which was scarred for many years seemed to have slightly recovered upon seeing the smile on her face. What was this feeling and was his heart racing? Whatever the feeling was, he did not want to let go it.

Just then, Indra snapped out of his thoughts when he had received a phone call. Picking the call up, he then noticed Maria walk up to him with a grin on her face and said,

"Well then, shall we get started?"
