Trust (Part 1)

Roughly two months had passed since the week-long internships. The leaves had been turning color for a while now and they were already falling from the trees. Jason leaned against the UA entrance, waiting for his friends. He had been in California all of his life and loved the weather, no matter how bad it got. In fact, he couldn't wait for the next thunderstorm. He smiled as he recalled walking through the rain as a kid. It always felt nice to him. He saw movement in the corner of his eye. His best friend was walking up. "Hey Jason. Why are you always early to class?" "Because I get to say hi to everyone." Chris smirked as he leaned against the entrance with Jason. "How've you been?" "All good on my end, man. How's Momo?" "Jason, you see her every day." "Yea, but you walk home with her every day." Chris blushed. "...Yea, well, I've been worried about her safety. I mean, after the USJ attack, I-" Jason laughed. "You can't use the USJ attack as an excuse when it happened three months ago." Chris just stared at his shoes. "...Yea, well… I still worry…" "You should ask her out." "Yea. A rich girl like her dating a guy like me." "Dude, does Momo really seem like the kind of person to care about how much money you have?" "...no, but-" "But nothing. She's a very kind person and she seems to be interested in you." "Chris turned to Jason. "And what about Shoto? When will you ask her out?" "Shoto and I are just good friends." It was Chris's turn to apply pressure. "And yet you two are always together. Hell, I still remember when you took a knife for her." "Chris, I would've done that for anyone." "Ok, but what about when she kissed you after you beat Endeavor up?" "First, that kiss was on the cheek. Secondly, how did you hear about that?" "Shoto told Momo." "Son of a bitch." Once the gates opened up, the two entered inside.

Aizawa entered the classroom. "You all seemed to have done well enough on your written exam yesterday. I'm impressed. Even the worst students in here passed. Barely, but passed." Everyone looked relieved. "However, that was the easy part. Today, we'll be conducting your physical exams. Go get changed and meet us at the field." The class immediately scrambled to get changed. Once outside in their hero costumes, they began talking. Denki, the guy who can shoot electricity, smiled. "I hear that the exam is going to be robots." Mina tilted her head. "You mean the ones from the entrance exam? This'll be easy as cake." "Kirishima looked at his childhood friend. "Pie." "You have pie?!"

The class quieted down as Aizawa came out of the building. Not just him, but all of the heroes who taught at the school. Even All Might followed behind 1A's teacher, smiling as brightly as usual. Aizawa looked down at his clipboard. "Alright, everyone. Normally, this exam would be like the entrance exam: destroy as many machines as possible." The class began to snicker and make plans with each other. Aizawa looked up. "However, we as your teachers realize that this isn't challenging enough for you all." The class slowly lost their enthusiasm. "You'll be broken up into teams of two, and then you'll face off against a teacher in a two vs one match." The class fell silent. Kaminari seemed panicked. "You expect us to be able to beat pro heroes?" Aizawa ignored him. "You have two ways of winning. One way is to have at least one team member pass through the escape gate. The other way is to apprehend the opponent by handcuffing at least one limb. We'll also be wearing weighted gear to limit our movement and abilities. One more thing: if your team fails, you'll be barred from going on the field trip next month." The class began to freak out, which Aizawa ignored again. "If nobody has any objections, we'll now announce the match ups."

"Sero and Mineta, you two will face off against Midnight. Tokoyami and Tsuyu will fight Ectoplasm. Aoyama and Uraraka will go against 13. Koda and Jiro will fight Present Mic. Shoji and Hagakure will be up against Snipe. Mina and Denki will fight Nezu. Iida and Ojiro will battle Power Loader. Kirishima and Sato will go against Cementoss. And I will be fighting Shoto and Momo." Chris scratched his head, "These seem like weird matchups." "They're not random." Chris looked to Jason, who had his arms crossed. "The students have been paired up with quirks that don't help against the teacher they're facing off against. Look at Kirishima: he and Sato use brunt force, but they're up against a hero who can mold the terrain to whatever he sees fit. Hagakure can turn invisible, but their opponent can lock onto anyone. Even Shoto and Momo, who rely heavily on their quirks, are up against Mr. Aizawa, who erases quirks. These won't be easy battles. Everyone needs to fight smart." Chris nodded in agreement, but then froze up. "...Wait, then who are we up against?" Jason paled. They both turned to the last teacher who's yet to be called. The number one hero smiled even brighter. Fear clutched both Jason and Chris as they realized what was going on. Aizawa looked to the last remaining students and spoke the dreaded words. "Chris, Jason, you two will face off against All Might."
