Chris was nervous beyond belief. It had only been a day since he had obtained his Probationary Hero License. Aizawa had said that the license means the students could now defend themselves in public with their quirk, but cannot go around actively performing hero work without a pro hero with them. They would apply to hero agencies in their second year. None of that mattered to Chris at this moment. He was about to do the hardest thing he's ever done. He walked up to Momo, who was walking and talking with Mina and Shoto. "...Excuse me, Momo…" The girls stopped and looked over. She smiled. "Yes?" Chris could hardly bring himself to say it. He had become a Probationary Hero yesterday, but this was somehow a more difficult task. "...I have movie tickets for tomorrow and was wondering if you would like to go with me." Momo smiled even more brightly. "Of course. Just let me know when you're going to pick me up." Momo hadn't hesitated at all. "...Oh. Yea, I'll text you." Momo giggled. "It's a date then. See you tomorrow." The girls walked with Momo off campus, congratulating her. Jason and Kirishima had been nearby to support their friend. They ran up and nearly tackled him. Jason was all smiles. "You did it man!" Kirishima shook Chris. "You finally did it!" Chris sighed, still smiling. "That was the easy part. Now I have to impress her enough to get her to stay with me." Jason nudged him. "You already have."
Chris waited in front of the 1A Dorm. Momo stepped out in regular clothes. Chris breathed a sigh of relief, thinking he'd have to see Momo be overdressed for the occasion. Momo smiled, but stopped. "Oh. You're dressed up." Chris was just wearing a polo shirt and nice blue jeans. He smiled nervously. "Sorry. I didn't know if I should be nice or normal, so I compromised." Momo was about to turn around and go inside. "Let me change real quick." "No no, it's fine." Momo turned to her date, a little concerned. "Are you sure?" He nodded with a smile. He was trying to not do anything to fuck up. Momo smiled and took his hand. "My limo will be here soon." "...Oh. Ok." "What?" "...I was just going to pay for an Uber for us." "Don't waste your money on me, Chris. I can cover for both of us." "Well, yea, but-" "Besides: you bought the movie tickets." "...Ok…" "What movie are we seeing?" "Oh, it's the new All Might movie that came out." "Sounds fun."
The two sat down in the movie theater. Chris sighed. "I can't believe how expensive food is here." Momo started munching on her popcorn. "Prices aren't that bad." "Says the one percent." "What?" "Nothing." The theater was completely packed. Even in retirement, All Might was still the most popular hero, and everyone wanted to remember his golden days as the Symbol of Peace. Someone was pushing up against Chris's shoulder all throughout the movie. Momo was also uncomfortable on her end. The result was the two pressing against each other the best they could. Chris thought for a second before slowly wrapping an arm around Momo. She immediately rested her head on his shoulder. Chris blushed, but didn't move. Momo was smiling now, more focused on cuddling than on the movie.
The two walked through the park together. "Thanks for taking me out tonight, Chris. I had fun." "Of course. Are you hungry?" "Not really." She sat down on a park bench. The sun was already setting behind the tree-line. Chris sat down next to her. She put her hand in his. He blushed, taking the hint and holding her hand. "...So… How does it feel to be a Probationary Hero?" Momo smiled up at him. "That's what you want to talk about?" "Sorry." "It's fine. It's definitely something you would bring up." Momo sighed, looking up at the orange sky. "Nervous. We passed the test, but now we're going to be doing professional hero work. I don't know how I'll do in a real world environment." Chris nodded. He shared the same concerns. Just because he's the successor of One for All doesn't mean he's unstoppable. His confrontation with Stain and his fight with Jason serve as constant reminders. He felt Momo press herself against him. "Hey, Chris. You ok?" Chris nervously smiled. "Sorry. I was just thinking about how nervous I am too." Momo giggled and rested her head on his shoulder again. He slightly tightened his grip on her hand. They sat in silence, watching the sun set.
They were only a few miles away from UA, so they decided to walk. Chris kept an arm wrapped around Momo. "...Hey Momo…" "Hm?" "...What does this make us?" She thought. "Well, we're in the same class, so we're still classmates. But if we go to the same Hero Agency, we'll be coworkers." Chris sighed as she continued. "I mean, we just went on a date, so I suppose we're good friends. But are we still friends? We could-" Chris stopped, pulling her into a hug. She stopped, looking up at him with a blush. He smiled down at her. Without saying a word, he leaned down and kissed Momo. She froze up, then slowly gave in to the kiss. After a minute, they separated. Momo was nearly in tears as she locked eyes with him. Her smile was the brightest it has ever been. "You have no idea how long I've waited for you to do that." Momo wrapped her arms around Chris's neck and kissed him again.
Momo never answered his question, but words were no longer needed.
