The 2nd Sports Festival (Part 6)

Shoto stepped up onto the ring. Sero stepped in from the other side. Both were smiling. They had never really been friends throughout their first year, but they respected each other. Midnight raised her hand. "We now have the first match of the quarter finals; Shoto Todoroki vs Hanta Sero! Ready?! Begin!" Shoto slammed her right foot down, freezing Sero in place. Once again, Midnight was partially covered in ice again. "...why did I not see this coming…? Sero, can you move?" "...no ma'am…" "Shoto Todoroki is the winner." The crowd erupted in cheers as Shoto put her left hand on the ice surrounding Sero. "Sorry." Sero sighed. "It's all good. Not many people can beat you anyways."

After the ice had been cleared away, Denki and Mina stepped onto the ring. The pink-skinned woman smiled. "Glad to see that you haven't given up." Denki smiled and stretched his arms out. "You inspired me to try harder. I intend to show everyone just how much I've improved." Mina rubbed her palms together, preparing her acid quirk. "I'm looking forward to this." Midnight cleared her throat before unmuting the microphone. "Next match of the day is Mina Ashido vs Denki Kaminari! Ready?! Begin!" Mina brought her hands together and shot a stream of acid at Denki. The man smiled, sparking his electricity. "Gotcha." He fired electricity at Mina's acid. The attacks collided. As it turns out, acid was a great conductor of electricity. Mina got hit by a large jolt of electricity. Denki took the chance to run forward. He grabbed Mina by the arm. The electricity in her body didn't affect him at all. Mina was then thrown out of the ring. Midnight raised her hand up. "Denki Kaminari is victorious!" Mina struggled to stand up as Denki offered a hand to her. Mina smiled and accepted the help. "Great work, man." Denki smiled.

Jason smiled and stood up. "I guess it's my turn next." "Chris!" Chris froze, recognizing the very young voice. He spun around. Eri was smiling up at him. Momo was standing behind her. Chris stood up and dropped to a knee. "Eri?! What are you doing here?!" "I came to watch you!" Momo was smiling. "Mr. Aizawa has been watching over Eri since the raid, since he can easily stop her quirk if things go wrong. She wanted to see you, so I offered to watch her while Aizawa is hosting with Mr. Yamada." Kirishima looked over at her. "Who?" Momo looked at him. "Pres Mic." "Ah. Gotcha." Chris smiled and hugged Eri. "Thanks, Eri. Want to help us cheer on Jason?" "Mhm!" Chris sat down with Eri sitting on his lap. Momo sat next to him as Jason and Iida went to get ready.

The two young men stepped into the ring. Jason smirked. "This'll only be the second time we've fought, class rep." Iida nodded. "I look forward to participating in this match with you." Jason nodded, not saying anything about how professional he was. Midnight raised her hand. "Tenya Iida vs Jason Miller! Ready?! Begin!" Jason dropped into a combat stance, making himself as small of a target as possible. Iida jumped and, using his quirk, delivered a powerful spinning kick. Jason blocked the attack, keeping his feet planted. Iida shouted. "Recipro Burst!" The flames coming out of his leg engines turned blue as more power was put into the kick. Jason was shocked as he got tossed to the side. He landed on his hands and flipped, turning around quickly enough to deflect a second kick from Iida. The flames seemed to stop for a brief moment. Jason delivered several punches to Iida's torso before sending him flying with a blue energy kick. Iida rolled, but managed to get back on his feet. Jason ran forward. Iida once again used his ultimate move. "Recipro Burst!" Jason stepped to the side, dodging the attack. Red energy covered his fist. "Vengeful Strike!" The attack hit Iida head on, throwing the class representative out of the ring. "The match is over! The winner is Jason Miller!"

Shoto smiled as her boyfriend helped Iida up and they congratulated each other on a job well done before going their separate ways. Chris looked down at Eri. "What did you think?" "His punches are very pretty." Chris gently picked up Eri and set her down in his seat. "Alright, it's my turn to go fight. You stay here with Momo, ok?" Eri smiled. "Ok!" Momo giggled as Chris and Itsuka left to go prepare.

Jason got back to Class 2A's observation stands just as Chris and Itsuka entered the arena. Itsuka rolled her shoulders. "This'll be the first time I've ever fought you." Chris nodded. "It is." Itsuka took a nervous breath. "I saw you in the news. I know what kind of power you're packing. I'm honestly a little scared. But that doesn't give you permission to hold back!" Chris chuckled a little. "Alright. Let's both do our best." "The upcoming match is between Itsuka Kendo and Chris Harper! Ready?! Begin!" Itsuka tried to get the jump on Chris by running to the side and growing one of her hands to monstrous sizes, but Chris was faster. He fired a shockwave at her feet, destabilizing the ground beneath her. Itsuka rolled, but hadn't decreased her hand size to do so. Chris easily jumped over the hand and flipped. He brought his foot down with only 12% of One for All. "Manchester Smash!" Itsuka brought her other hand up and enlarged it, blocking the kick. Then she grabbed Chris. Due to the size of her hand, she had completely engulfed Chris. She swung around, intending on throwing him out of bounds. She let go. Chris was flung across the arena. With 20% of One for All, Chris punched the air in front of him. The shockwave sent him rocketing back towards Itsuka. She was completely amazed by his reaction time. Chris spun around, powering up a new attack he had come up with. "St. Louis Smash!" The powerful roundhouse kick sent Itsuka flying out of bounds. "Chris Harper is victorious, ending the final match of the quarterfinals!"

Itsuka and Chris walked out of the ring together. Jason wasn't smiling. Shoto looked over at him. "Everything ok?" "You face off against Denki, and then I face off against Chris. Then those two winners fight each other." Shoto was a little confused. "I'm aware of how a tournament bracket works. What does that have to do with anything?" Jason's eyes narrowed as he looked up at the semifinals bracket, which was displayed on the big screen. "The four strongest in our class are about to face off, and I honestly have no idea how these next two fights are going to play out."
