Alone (Part 3)

The Nomu swung it's fist. Mina rolled to avoid it. She spun around and sprayed acid on the ground directly beneath the monster. The ground became unstable and the Nomu stumbled. It bought the young student just enough time to get to the construction site she had spotted. Whatever company had been making this had been tasked with constructing a five story tall building. Mina took a deep breath and prayed that the Ryukyu Agency would pay for this. She began to melt the support columns surrounding the structure. The Nomu had finally arrived. Mina turned and got slammed into the street. She held her now broken arm, screaming in pain. Despite that, she managed to rise. The Nome began running. She concentrated and focused her acid at the last column. The Nomu ignored the acid attack, but took notice of the rumbling above it. The entire construction site came crashing down. Mina hit the dirt to avoid flying debris. Once the dust settled, Mina stood, holding her arm. The Nomu's head had been crushed.

Chris sprinted at the Nomu. He threw a punch, which phased right through the beast. The Nomu swung again. Chris ducked. He was faster than it, but he couldn't land a hit on the Nomu. The two were at a stalemate. Then Chris rolled in between its legs and delivered a powerful kick that aimed for the back of its leg. The kick connected. The Nomu fell to a knee before slamming its fist on Chris. He managed to block it, but then he realized something; the Nomu had to activate the quirk in order to avoid Chris's destructive attacks, but would deactivate it in order to attack. However, in order to activate the quirk, the Nomu had to see the attack coming. Chris rolled away and punched the ground, stirring up all of the dust that had gathered as a result of the battle. The Nomu looked around, trying to lock onto Chris. Then the Nomu's head exploded. Chris had sped behind it and brought his foot down on it with 35% of One for All. The Nomu fell to the ground, unable to regenerate without its head. Chris dropped to a knee to catch his breath, then he stood up again. His job wasn't done. He began running to where Jason was.

Kirishima pushed the rubble off of him. He could feel blood trickling down his forehead. The Nomu in front of him was slowly walking forward. Kirishima rose to his feet, holding his head. He was reminded of his battle with Rappa. Except this time, he was truly on his own. Fatgum wouldn't save him, and Chris was probably busy with his own battle. He had to do this on his own. Kirishima smiled. He was reminded of what All Might had once told him, way back in his first year at UA. "You focus too much on defense, but a great defense is a strong offense! Become a bulldozer and smash through your opponents!" Kirishima took a deep breath as he transformed. He would win no matter what. "Red Riot: Unbreakable!" He sprinted forward. The Nomu began sprinting as well. The Nomu dug its diamond claws into Kirishima's sides. They cut through his armor like a hot knife though butter. Kirishima didn't even try to block it; he had shoved both arms into the Nomu's gaping mouth. He then began to separate his arms, trying to tear its head in half. The Nomu began frantically tearing Kirishima's sides apart. Kirishima gritted his teeth, fighting through the pain. "I can do this! I have to win!" With a final scream, Kirishima split the Nomu's head in two. The beast fell to the ground, completely immobile. Kirishima's quirk gave out just a few seconds later. He smirked. Then he held his sides and fell to the ground.

Jason jumped away from the Nomu. "...I get it. Your quirk must be why I'm so afraid. It must be putting fear in me." The Nomu swung with three of its limbs. Jason rolled and was about to fire off a powerful flick when the Nomu used its quirk again. Jason panicked and fired before properly aiming, which resulted in the wall next to the Nomu being destroyed. The Nomu turned to look at the destruction, meaning the quirk was temporarily deactivated. Jason charged forward. "Vengeful Strike!" The Nomu managed to raise its arms and block the attack. Its reflexes were quicker than Jason had remembered. Then Jason's arms were grabbed. The Nomu stared right into Jason's eyes and activated the quirk. Jason dropped to a knee. "...I'll admit… you're terrifying… one of the scariest things I've ever seen… but…" Jason smirked as his right arm became covered in jet black energy. "...you also just guaranteed my victory." The Nomu didn't realize what Jason was planning, but knew that Jason was about to attack. It raised its other two arms up to shield itself. Jason used his regular strength in order to throw the Nomu's arms off of himself. Then he spun around the Nomu's defense. "Nightmare Strike!" Jason unleashed the strongest attack he had ever done with a single emotion, disintegrating the walls around him and destroying a good part of the buildings surrounding the alleyway. When the dust settled, only the bottom half of the Nomu was still present. Jason smirked, exhausted from the battle. Then he heard movement directly behind him. He never got the chance to see what it was, because he had been knocked out cold.

Momo got smacked away from the Nomu. Denki turned to her. "Momo-" He got slammed as well. The two students got back up. Denki dusted himself off. "Well, I'm out of ideas. You got anything?" Momo took a deep breath. "...I have one.. But I need you to stall the Nomu…" Denki glanced at her, still keeping an eye on the Nomu getting closer to their position. "How long?" "I have no idea." Denki sighed. "I promise you 60 seconds. After that, you're on borrowed time." Momo nodded. She pulled out her phone as Denki rushed forward. Denki pushed his hands up against the Nomu's chest. Before the Nomu could activate its acid skin, Denki shouted the name of his ultimate attack. "Complete Electrocution: 1,000,000 Volts!" The Nomu screeched in pain as the hero in training pushed himself to the absolute limit. Momo was still searching for blueprints in her phone. Her quirk could only create items that she understood on a molecular level, meaning she had to research the tool she needed. Denki screamed. He was using so much electricity all at once that it was starting to hurt him. The Nomu's skin began to smoke as it was burned alive. Momo had found what she needed and was now creating the individual parts for assembly. Denki saw the Nomu was beginning to adjust to the electricity, and was moving its hand to grab him. "1,500,000 Volts!" This was far above anything he had actually tested and was pushing into suicidal territory. Then Denki's quirk stopped. His brain had fried. The Nomu raised its arm and slammed him away. Denki hit his head on a nearby wall before falling to the ground. The Nomu turned to Momo. She shouldered and aimed her now finished object: a rocket propelled grenade launcher. Momo aimed directly at the top half of the Nomu's chest. "Melt this." She squeezed the trigger. The grenade exploded on impact, rocking the alleyway. Momo coughed as the dust settled. The Nomu's legs were all that was left. Momo discarded the empty launcher and ran to Denki, who was barely conscious. "Hey! Stay with me!" She called 911 to her location and stayed with Denki until they arrived.

The final Nomu was still locked onto Shoto. She wasn't having any luck. The water kept putting out her fire and her ice kept getting melted by its flames. She looked around. She wasn't in a very good position to just use Apocalyptic Shock. She couldn't run away either. She had to beat this thing. She activated her flames. "I'll have to use the strongest attack my father ever created; an attack so powerful that he risks overheating every time he uses it." The Nomu prepared a powerful water attack counter. Then Shoto fired her flames. "Prominence Burn!" The Nomu fired back with a concentrated stream of water. The area became covered in steam as the attacks collided. Shoto screamed as her body began to heat up beyond her limits. She needed to get hotter. Her only chance at beating this thing was to overpower it. As she heated up even more, her fire turned blue. Then the water began evaporating faster than the Nomu could create it. The Nomu was torched alive by Shoto's flames. Shoto didn't let up until she could no longer hear the Nomu's screams. She stopped and saw the smoking carcass of what was once a monster. Shoto activated her ice and held her left arm with a smile. She had won all on her own.

Chris finally arrived at where he thought Jason was. He froze up. His eyes widened as he looked at the scene in front of him. He then fell to his knees. It was Cowell Park all over again. The alleyway, or what was left of it, had definitely been a battlefield only a few moments ago. He could see what remained of the Nomu. However, he only saw a puddle of blood. Chris began to cry.

Jason was gone.
