Shoto knocked on Jason's door again. It was the third time that day. He wasn't answering his phone and he hadn't come down to eat breakfast or lunch. Unfortunately, this had been normal since the discovery of another Jason a month ago. Shoto sighed and raised her voice. "Jason, open this door or I will break it down and force feed you lunch." After a few moments, the door unlocked. Holding the food tray in one hand, Shoto opened the door. Jason was already sitting back at his desk. Shoto closed the door behind her and set the food in front of him. "Chicken Caesar Salad. Mina helped me make it from scratch." Jason slightly smiled. "Thanks." Shoto sat on the side of his bed, making sure he ate. "I know it's a stupid question, but how are you holding up?" Jason just sighed as he began eating. "...I still don't know how to react to any of this… I don't even know why the League would clone me in the first place…" Shoto thought for a minute. "Maybe they wanted to brainwash one or both of you guys." Jason shook his head. "Not the League's style. Shigaraki is an idiot, but he's smarter than that." Shoto smiled. "I know you can figure this one out." Jason took a deep breath and closed his eyes. He tried to think about the situation from an outside perspective. Why would the League kidnap him of all people? Why would they clone him? How could they benefit from this?
Before he could think of possible answers to any of his initial questions, the clone took over his thoughts. Jason opened his eyes. Shoto tilted her head in confusion. "Everything ok?" "I can't focus." Jason stood up, never finishing his food. "I'm heading to the gym. Hopefully some exercise will clear my head." Shoto was going to say something, but just nodded instead. "Ok. I love you." Jason turned and kissed her. "I love you too."
At the Endeavor Agency, Momo was hard at work. Shoto had called her earlier that day, informing her of Jason's mental state. If the sharpest crime fighting mind on their team truly was negatively affected to the degree reported, it meant that Momo was the group's best shot at narrowing down the other Jason's location. She slammed her fists on the desk, frustrated. She had been searching ever since the day he disappeared. However, due to Jason's knowledge of Santa Cruz, very few people knew the streets better than him. That meant that, for the moment, only Jason could find Jason.
Tamaki entered the room. "Hey. Everything ok here?" Momo looked up at him with a fake smile. "Yes, everything is fine. Why?" "I heard a loud bang." "...oh. There was a spider." It was a lie, but Momo didn't really care if Tamaki believed it or not. He just nodded slowly. "...what are you working on?" "Paperwork for the Ryukyu Agency." "You've been doing a lot of that recently…" Momo looked back at the current head of the Fatgum Agency. "Is there something else I can help you with?" Tamaki, not being one for confrontation, shook his head and went back to his desk in another room. A few minutes later, Mina came in. "Hey. I brought coffee." Momo smiled up at her friend. "You're a lifesaver." Mina sat in the seat on the other side of Momo's desk. "Any progress?" "None whatsoever. I have been searching city cameras for weeks now." Mina tried thinking. "...maybe we should take another approach to this." Momo looked at her. "What kind of approach?" "Well, we're assuming that the missing Jason is still in Santa Cruz. That part makes sense. Now, do we know if we had any money on him?" Momo shook her head. "I highly doubt he had anything on him. At least, not enough to last this long." Mina stood up. "Well, it's my turn to go on patrol. I know you'll come up with something." Momo gave a faint smile before looking back at her computer.
Another week passed before the team would make their breakthrough. Chris and Kirishima were on patrol through the downtown district when they heard a commotion. A man sprinted out of a store. The store owner ran out and shouted. "Thief! Thief!" The two students sprinted ahead. The culprit sprinted through the alleyways, trying to lose them. Kirishima was following right behind him. Chris had used One for All to jump up onto the rooftops and was observing the chase from overhead. Then Chris leaped down, landing in front of the culprit. He stopped and turned, but Kirishima was right there. The guy held his hands up in surrender. Kirishima searched him, finding the stolen product: some packages of food. Kirishima was confused. "The hell dude? You're stealing food?" The man sighed. "People need to eat, right?" Chris stared at the food. That was it. As they waited for the police to take away the culprit, Chris texted Momo. The other Jason was on the streets with no assets. How was he getting food?
