FIVE DAYS LATER…
Chris's eyes slowly fluttered open. There was a bright light in his face. Unfortunately, Chris was accustomed to seeing hospital lights. He let himself lie still for a moment, letting his brain wake up before he slowly sat up. Surprisingly, he felt fine. His right arm was heavily bandaged up, but that was to be expected after everything that happened. Chris looked to his left and smiled a little. Jason was in the bed next to him, still unconscious. His right arm was handcuffed to the bedframe: probably in case he tried to commit suicide again. Chris had questions about Jason's quirk, but they would have to wait. Shoto was also there, asleep in the chair next to Jason's bed. Her right arm was in a sling and there was a single crutch next to her. That's when Chris noticed her left leg was bandaged up and in a medical boot. Past them, Chris could see out the window. It was the dead of night. Chris looked to his right and nearly had a heart attack. He didn't even notice Momo there. She was fast asleep, sitting in a chair with her head on his bed. Chris smiled. Momo had a bandage on her cheek, but otherwise looked fine. He went to put a hand on her head, but didn't. He decided to let her sleep. Chris slowly laid back down and just relaxed. This was really the first time he had gotten the chance to do nothing. Six straight months of training had taken its toll on Chris's body, but now he could rest. Or so he thought.
The door swung open. Chris looked over and tensed up. His mother was standing right there, holding some flowers. She just stared at Chris. Chris stared back. Then he smiled and waved. "Hi mom." "Chris!" Beverly dropped the flowers and ran to him. Chris sat upright and lifted his left arm up to hug his mother. The mother and son held each other. The commotion woke up Momo and Shoto. Out in the hallway, the rest of his friends had woken up and poked their heads in. Momo began to tear up. "...Chris…" She also hugged Chris. He just smiled and enjoyed the hug. Shoto smiled at the trio. The rest of the group slowly filed in. After several minutes of his mom and girlfriend hugging him, they let go. Chris looked around the room, his smile slowly fading. He thought more people had entered, but only Itsuka and Iida walked in, and Tokoyami was right behind them in a wheelchair, with Aizawa pushing him. Chris looked at Momo. "Where are the others? What happened to them?"
Momo took a deep breath. "...Denki is still recovering from surgery… the doctors managed to stabilize him after the hole ripped through him. Kyoko is with him. Kirishima woke up a few days ago, but passed out seconds later. He woke up a second time, stood up, and then fell to the floor. The hospital staff ran some tests and…" Momo couldn't bring herself to finish the sentence, so Shoto finished it for her. "He suffered a massive concussion during the battle. While the effects are likely temporary, as first time concussions normally are, he's likely to have problems for the next few months. The effects can be anything from trouble keeping balance to short and long term memory loss." Chris looked down at his right arm. For some reason, his injuries now seemed minor in comparison to his friends'. "...I assume Mina is with him right now?" Momo nodded. Chris looked over at his best friend's bed. "And Jason?" Shoto lifted her good arm and put her hand on Jason's. "Both of you were put into medically induced comas until your injuries could heal, and were taken off around the same time. We don't know what caused Jason's quirk to return, but we have to assume that-"
Jason sat upright in his bed. "Come on, All for One! Let's finish this! I'll-" Jason stopped shouting when he realized All for One wasn't there. He slowly looked around and saw everyone staring at him in shock. "...why does Heaven look like a hospital?" His friends all smiled, grateful that Jason was his former self. Chris looked Jason in the eyes. "We won." Jason nodded and laid back down, finally letting himself relax. Then he was filled in on the condition of his friends. Jason thought for a bit before smiling. "Denki and Kirishima are tough. They'll both pull through and we'll be there to help them every step of the way." The group's confidence returned, along with their smiles. They were happy to have all survived, and even happier that the group of friends was reunited once more.
