The Sudden Shift and Slaving Away

Matt gave a brief tour of the building before arriving at the fourth floor. Arriving here, he let his friends pick their rooms while also claiming one for himself and Morgan. Surprisingly, Kate and James chose the same room as well.

"I'm heading up to the roof to test something with my powers." Matt said

"Then I will ensure that no one will disturb you." Morgan said with a light smile on her face.

Matt went up to the roof and assumed the same seated position that he had been in when his group returned. He turned his attention back to the sphere that was still floating in the center of his space vessel. He was thinking of a way to allow him to gain a stable source of energy. His vision was a star, that would grow due to the things that were being added to his vessel.

The buildings and infected that had built up in his space vessel up to this point were just floating aimlessly. He then began to make the small sphere spin slowly at first to see what effect it would have on the things inside. Nothing seemed to happen with a low rotation speed so he began to give it more effort. Pretty soon, the sphere was spinning at an astounding speed that couldn't be seen. That was when he noticed that the other items in the space began to drift towards the little sphere. As they got closer, the faster they moved until they crashed into it. As more items were added, they began to melt down due to friction and emit a bright light. When all of the things in the space vessel were gone, with the exception of the things he wanted to keep there, there was now a little start stabilized in the middle of his vessel.

He felt his vessel begin to tremble and shake which caused him no small amount of pain. The space inside was expanding slowly to accommodate the new found power that had entered it. Now his vessel was double its size which would allow him to add more to it while also expanding the star. The longer the star existed, it would continue to expand and provide energy. Even though it was just created, he could feel a small stream of power flowing into his energy vessel. It didn't seem to be enough to create a crystal right off the bat, but over time that wouldn't matter. His space vessel was focused on quantity while his energy vessel focused on quality.

With this done, his test was a success so he headed back down to his room for the night. When he entered, he found Morgan waiting on him in the bed. It seemed that his night was only getting started. He hurriedly stripped off his clothes as he jumped into the bed with her.

"You seem to be in a good mood." she giggled seeing his excitement to join her.

"My test was a success so that boosted my mood. The greatest lift to my mood though was seeing you waiting on me." he said as his hands began to roam her body in a lustful way.

She shivered at his touch and couldn't help but let out a moan of pleasure when his hands moved across her breasts and in-between her thighs. She had been looking forward to this since the last time they had gotten intimate. Their bodies intertwined as they enjoyed each others touch.

They both woke up bright and early just like the rest of the group did. They all gathered in the common area for breakfast while discussing the plans for the day.

"Hey, you seem different." Circi said with some confusion.

"Circi, don't be rude." Jess said in reprimand

"What do you mean by different?" Matt asked.

"Before, all I could see was cloudy, but now its all black with a few specks like stars." Circi said.

The rest of the group looked at her with strange looks since they didn't know what was going on.

"Circi is, for lack of better terms, a Seer. She can glimpse the future in a way that shows the path that someone will take. Jess, she saw your path coming to an end in that fighting pit until I intervened. It appears that the strength of my power growing to such an extent has put me outside the possibilities she can see." Matt said.

They were all astounded as they looked at the little girl. They were all wondering the same thing, had she seen them all die?

"What have you seen about the rest of us?" Kate asked.

"I have seen the ends of all of your paths, but every time I see the end it changes because of him." Circi said while pointing at Matt.

"Enough of that, we have things to do today and I'm sure Dom would like a well deserved rest see how he has been on night watch." Matt said while urging everyone to get to work.

He then made his way down the stairs to take a look at how many of the thugs from yesterday were still alive. He knew that some would try to run away and in turn would get picked off by Dom. Arriving outside, there were only ten or so people left from the large group that had originally shown up. They all had haggard expressions as it was clear that they had not slept very much.

"Today, each of you will work yourselves to the bone to prove that you deserve to live and to stay inside this settlement." Matt said.

"I am Jefferson, and I would like to know what exactly we will be forced to do." Jefferson said.

"For the time being, you will be forced to break up the indicated concrete and ready the soil beneath it for gardens and orchards. That is your only task for the time being and how well it is done will decide how much you will receive to eat." Matt said.

The group all nodded like chickens in agreement since they knew that they didn't stand a chance at resisting what he had just told them to do. It seemed that they were about to be worked like slaves until they had gained his trust.
