"Good Morning, Heaven," one of the very famous chefs of Dark Crescent Moon pack chirped. The baby pink blush on her fair skin matching with her apron.
"Good Morning, Mrs Stone," I effused and pulled out a chair to the table. "I don't see anyone here for breakfast?"
"All the young people are at their school." Mrs Stone passed me a plate filled with five zucchini-bacon egg muffins.
"Oh right, I forgot this is G-block," I chuckled while savouring my eyes with the bright muffins, my mouth watering with the imagination of their taste. "These look tasty."
"Dig in," she smiled. "If you need more, call me, I'll be in the next room, okay?"
I nodded. "Thank you."
I took a bit of the tasty looking muffin, closing my eyes and humming in complete bliss. Mrs Stone does have some magic in her hands, I've been eating her food for a week by now and never got enough of the yummy taste. Well, I should learn something from her or I could request her to give me the book she might've learned from to improve her skills. That way even I could rock in the kitchen and eat delicious meals every day.
I stuffed the third muffin in my small mouth and kept myself busy with the same old stories of twitter stars.
"Don't they have anything else to do other than posting nonsense stuff," I shook my head at their boring norms.
I licked my fingertips going for another muffin when my temporary phone chimed in my hand grabbing my attention. It was a message from Mr Alpha.
"What does he want now?" I muttered, clicking on her message bar.
Good Morning, Heaven.
Hope you are ready for your first day.
I'm waiting for you outside.
Thought you would need a ride.
My body straightened as I re-read the last two messages. I don't remember him talking about my ride, I mean wasn't I supposed to take a taxi or something like? He didn't mention he would come for me. My breath hitched at the thought of him still out there in his car and waiting for me while glancing at his watch, regretting his decision.
My lips parted as I randomly glanced at the time which had me cursing me under my breath at my tardiness.
"What do I do?" I panicky muttered, getting up and throwing my phone in my handbag. I stuffed the other two muffins in my mouth, slightly jumping on my toes hurrying but making sure I didn't choke on it.
He was waiting outside and I was running late, that thought refused to leave my brain as I grabbed a glass, filling it with the water and chugging it down my throat without a second thought. I ran my hand along with my hair, intending it to set it right and like a normal person and inhaled deep breaths before rushing towards the main door, of course with my handbag.
"Good Morning, Heaven," Alpha Lucas greeted in his husky voice, unfolding his arms from his chest and opening the passenger door to his car for me.
I climbed down the steps almost tripping on one of them when I gaped at his complete business-clad form, his biceps bulging out and showing its unique curve on his royal blue suit. His hair styled back without any tufts only adding a glow to his illegal-like body.
"Good Morning," I said in my soft tone, he could probably see the awe-struck glint in my eyes.
"Impressed?" He chuckled, a perfect curve forming on his cheeks. If I weren't on my strike I would've...
I snapped out of my daze for the nth time, the blood on my cheeks signalling its arrival. "L-lets—let's go, we are already late."
I hid my face under my hair not paying attention to his smug look as I proceeded to sit in his car.
"I guess it's already working on you," he muttered, closing the door walking to the driver's seat.
"I'm sorry for being late."
He fastened the seatbelt which reminded me of mine.
"I'm not angry or disappointed so you can relax," he smirked.
I cleared my throat and forced a solemn look if I blush I would lose against him and that would hurt my pride.
"I don't care what you feel."
He side-glanced at me before pulling over on the main road while exposing his amusement. "I'm liking you today even more."
I bit my lips and successfully struggled to avoid his comment. "Earlier... you said that something was working on me, what did you mean?"
Alpha Lucas changed the gear, slowing down the speed due to the traffic, he huffed. "The mate bond is working on you."
"What?"
"Tell me honestly, don't you sense anything whenever you see me?"
My brain automatically rummaged through the encounters we faced up until now, all the time how my body and my senses reacted whenever I was near him, how much my eyes fought to glance at his, how much my body silently craved to have his attention and the time when I once thought to talk out with him rather hiding.
I nodded. "I fight against it. Whenever I feel urges."
His grip on the steering wheel tightened, his frown depicting the hurt hidden under it.
"When a mate recognises their other half, a bond forms itself and tries to bring them together. Like how you recognised me and found yourself crashing into me all the time, the more you try to turn your face away the more it will try to force you to look at me, the more fierce you try to run away from me the mate bond will bring you back to me with the same intensity. If you haven't noticed yet, you can actually see its effect when you took the rush decision on a whim to shift to another city—and even after knowing I didn't follow you because I knew the mate bond would handle it, but I never expected it to be so rash."
It made sense why I felt attracted towards him, why I started to see him in a more likeable way when all I wanted was to fight against him. I wasn't against his kind or him, the only reason I fought him was that I never faced a good memory with his kind, it was only a useless fear and the defence pushing him away from me, all due to the fear of unhappy future circumstances.
Fear gripping my heart and my voice croaked forming the words which were like a sin to me. What he spoke only confirmed my thoughts.
"Shit," I heard him mutter.
"So, the accident was all my fault. The innocent died all because of me?"

"What do you think must've happened to her?" Ashley aka Female Delta asked, her elbow propped on her office counter table serving a perfect balance for her chin while her blonde curls framed the outline of her face making her look even younger.
"I don't know," Skylar wondered.
Both of their eyes lingered on that one gloomy girl working hard with her dedicated concentration, not even bothering to glimpse at her best friend. It was her first day... so shouldn't she be full of the joys of spring? But the case here revolves anticlockwise.
The four high-ranking ladies of the pack shared one office unit, it had been like that for generations except in their case one the Female Gamma was still unfound, that's what Heaven knew. The rule was designed like that so the ladies can work together and hold each other's burdens, this way they could build their friendship even more.
"Should I go talk to her?" Skylar asked.
Ashley narrowed her eyes on Heaven as if trying to pull the dull girl's issues out with her eyes. "Shouldn't you be knowing her better? It's my first time."
Skylar huffed and got up from her seat making her way to Heaven counter table.
"Heaven."
Ignored
"Heaven."
"Not in the mood," Heaven blankly replied.
Skylar huffed. "Today morning when I called you, you were happy and excited, what made your mood change in an hour?"
"Nothing."
"Are you on your periods?" Ashley asked, raising a brow.
"No," Heaven replied. "Please sit down and continue your work."
"Continue our work? How can I when you look like you've committed a great sin?" Skylar raised her voice.
Heaven's action stopped, she stilled before keeping the papers back in the file as she stared at her hands, thumb softly running over the skin of another hand. Even though Alpha Lucas didn't mean it to sound it like that, Heaven felt that it was her mistake she couldn't stop herself from blaming herself. If she hadn't taken that decision she might not have let those people get hurt, she might not have seen her friend lying motionless on the hospital bed while her mate cried his eyes out. Skylar explained it to me so many times, she warned even in the last minute but all because of my fear I let something like that unwarily happen.
"It's my fault. The accident was all my fault."
Skylar asked, "Tell me clearly what happened?"
