"What are you doing?" Skylar ambled lazily, laying down on the soft green grass beside me.
I breathed in complete bliss. "Enjoying nature."
The gardens of the Crescent Moon Pack were one of the best things to spend a good time on the leisure ones. But the one we were at was a casual garden for people to relax, more like a private one for those who were a part of the pack. I was their guest so which means I could use it too. Lol.
It was the best thing I realized, laying here listening to the wind blow through the trees, birds singing in their own rhythm, and making my own story with the white clouds contrasting beautifully with the blue sky. My life for a moment was perfect.
"I heard that Ashley apologized to you last night?"
"Hmm."
She chuckled, stretching her arms up in the air and popping her bones. "That girl has a knack to upset people, she's pretty straight-forward."
"She wasn't wrong though," I whispered and closed my eyes. I accepted her apology, she felt bad about lashing out on me, I would've taken it less serious if she wasn't true.
"So everything settled?"
"Yeah, thanks to God."
Skylar pattered my arm to get my attention as she turned on her right to face me. "Do you want to know something?"
"Say it."
"You'll be shocked."
"Unless you don't."
"You became famous overnight, people are whispering about you being our Luna." She bit her lip in elation, her fingers softly brushed the grass away from her long blue and white checks top.
"I know about that," I confirmed, adjusting my arms beneath my head.
"You want to know the best part of it?"
"What is it?" I asked, still not opening my eyes.
"Alpha Lucas confirmed it today morning."
I shot up all of a sudden like a bullet, eyeballs on the verge of falling down their sockets as I shockingly stared at now widely smiling Skylar. She sat up and pushed all the grass and mud from her body and the ends of her hair.
"You are joking right?" I shook her arm in desperation, she turned on the phone and showed me his last post.
I strongly expected her to laugh and say that she was joking despite the post she showed me because Alpha Lucas was a gentle sort of man and he wouldn't do anything which I don't approve of. It would be wrong of him to do that without consulting me although my heart jumped in joy for some darn reason, wanting to see his face, my heart aching to be in his presence and to hug him.
I usually didn't feel these crazy inexperienced feelings but it was hard not to think about him and not wanting to see his gentle smile. I wonder what he must be thinking now, what must be bothering him whether he thought how I was doing here too.
He didn't get the chance to say sorry to me, even in the car I rejected everything he said, drowning myself in the crimes which I had indirectly committed. I felt bad for him, that poor guy concentrated less on the driving and more on easing my pain. Must he be so nice that I couldn't help but smile with his presence in my day-dreaming?
Was it possible for him to be the guy I longed for? Would he hold my hand like he promised he would be?
The answers were difficult to find but not impossible and I knew somewhere deep in my heart that Alpha Lucas—whatever he does wouldn't disappoint me, he was a smart man with a strong will and knew what was right and wrong. At such speed, I don't think I could stop myself from falling for him.
I softly clapped my palms to pass time, my knees supporting my straightened arms as I sat on the wide cement front porch steps of Alpha Lucas' grand duplex house, exterior itself gave chills down my body I wondered how it would amaze from inside. It had been ten minutes since I sat here and the sun had finally decided to show up after so many days, illuminating the land with his shine again.
As soon as I heard the news about his arrival in the pack, I sped all the way here as if I would lose him if I didn't. The reason wasn't that I was longing but because there were few things I was wanting to tell and apologize for how inconsiderate I was.
The horn of the car had me move from my spot, muscles easing to relax walking a few steps ahead unknowingly as I watched a gleaming black Aston martin vantage park in the front.
My breath was taken away when Alpha Lucas opened the door stepping out in a royal blue shirt, sleeves folded up till his elbows, showing off the muscles hidden under the fabric. His black goggles and dishevelled brown hair was enough to buckle my knees as he so effortlessly looked so handsome. Damn!
The look, the attitude, the style and the car, the view was enough for any girl to fall on her knees and beg him to make her his. Eww! Don't worry I won't even think of doing that. But too sad for those poor girls because he already has his eyes on someone else. A fact was what I revealed.
The thought brought a smile on my face, biting my lip I controlled my over-excited hormones. He still knew me as the old rude Heaven and I shouldn't give him the satisfaction that he actually won me.
"Heaven? What's the matter?" He took off the goggles hiding it in his grey pants while walking towards me with a puzzled look.
"Umm... I'm sorry I came at this hour, but I needed to talk to you, I'll just take thirty seconds of your time," I said.
His eyes softened, staring at me with those intense yet unharmful honey orbs. "No, it's fine. I don't feel much tired, we can go somewhere and talk about it. Even I have a few things to share with you, let me take you to a place unless you want to go to my untidy house."
I chuckled awkwardly, the thumb of my left hand digging into my right one. I wasn't a shy fellow or an introvert, I was more like the one who would mingle up with people very easily, but with my tense hormones and erratic heartbeat for him, I even forgot how to breathe sanely.
"Aren't you coming?" Alpha Lucas started towards the woods, stopping to look back at me. I hurriedly moved towards him keeping a couple of steps distance between us.
I had seen forests in photos, tv and the times when I had had to cross woods in order to go to the other city to visit my mother's parents, but I had been stepped between these scary trees, they were enchanting from afar but dangerous from close.
For werewolves, it was a different story. The woods were like a mother's embrace to them which was one of the reasons why I never went on trekking in the forest with my college friends.
Those years were hell for me, the nightmares of those werewolves attacking and eating my flesh alive and multiple wolves going barbaric while putting houses on fire was hazardous. Of course, no one would attempt it, but after those incidents in my past, sleeping at night became sin for me, I basically became an owl those days.
But day by day after I took control by myself I assured myself it was nothing and they were just simple nightmares which can't do anything but ruin your life, becoming tough was hard but my determination to win was stronger than that.
I hadn't realised that Alpha Lucas had stopped walking which unknowingly led me to bump his back, I rubbed my nose softly even though it didn't hurt. His muscles look hard but very warm in touch.
"Are you alright?" Alpha Lucas bent forward and touched my arm in worry.
I stepped backwards when his touch sent the familiar electric shock. I wasn't used to it even though they were familiar. "I-I'm fine."
He took a step back and looked behind, my eyes followed his gaze and widened in awe-struck, I walked past him softly giggled at the beauty of nature. We were on a high cliff, with three not-too-distant waterfalls cascading down other cliffs, the sound of the water hitting its destiny was soothing and peaceful, the wind blowing my untied hair back and relieving myself in the fresh air.
Desirous to take a better look I gave in to my wish without thinking I strolled forward.
A hand grabbed my arm and turned me towards the owner, too busy in keeping up my balance I didn't see the rock and stepped on it, but before I could even say hello to the mother earth, warm yet muscled arm encased my slimy waste, protecting me from the harsh fall, The palms of my hand pairing themselves on the top of his breasts, feeling his heart going wild under my fingertips at the contact.
The warm filled in me and his constant manly frankincense scent inviting themselves in my nose making my senses go senseless. My eyes opened softly as the soft pants left my parted lips, my eyes observing his bright and happy honey eyes. His face in content and the undying longingness reoccurring in his orbs.
I softly pushed him by my palms as he stepped back, bringing his hand to scratch his neck while his cheeks struggled to fight the blush like how I was doing myself.
He cleared his throat and looked right past me, too shy to connect our gazes. "I'm sorry, I just wanted you to be careful, there are high chances for you to trip and fall."
"I realised."
He cleared his throat again coming to the main topic. "I'm sorry about the other day, I didn't mean whatever I said in the car. I didn't mean to upset you."
I nodded, looking down as my feet played with the dry leaves.
"You only meant to point out the reason." I chuckled foolishly. "I was the one who took it too seriously."
"So... are we good on this one?" His eyes called mine, hesitancy storming in his honeys.
I nodded. "We are, I guess. Even I wanted to apologize for that, I'm sorry."
"Don't be," he avowed.
"What was that about? The post about you confirming I'm your mate?"
During my way towards his house was sort of unusual. Generally, people don't give me much importance as the people in the pack gave me today. Every one of them looked at me with hopes, praised and made me promise them that I would help them protect the pack. Men, women, teenagers, senior citizens and even children showed off how proud they were to meet their Luna, the good feeling about it was they didn't care if I was a human it not they gave me the immense respect which the students at my previous never did.
"God." He stretched the word, almost scared of how I would burst out in anger. "I'm really really really sorry about that, the situation wasn't in my favour. Many high-ranking people from the other packs constantly called me at night, I was helpless and even the media got to know about it, but I'm not surprised."
He chuckled ridiculously.
"Anyway, I'm sorry. I had to take the step without discussing with you, I had to do it to calm the people down."
"They don't know how I look, right?" I pointed my forefinger at me.
He reassured me. "No, they don't. Your face will be revealed during the Luna ceremony."
"Is there something like that?" I raised a brow in surprise.
"You'll get to know about it in future when you are ready to be mine—no, I-I mean Luna, yeah Luna." He choked on his words, quickly covering it up with his short coughs.
Ready to be mine.
I pushed a few strands of my hair behind my ear, the words replaying in my ears, again and again, failing to take over the control on my tomato, strawberry or red apple, whatever red colour fruits and vegetables out there to define my blush face.
"There's another main thing I wanted to discuss with you," he uttered, his face turning serious.
I stared at him to proceed.
"This might be too much for you, but please I need your help in this."
"What is it?"
"Have you observed the weird change in your feelings and emotions this past couple of days?" He asked, leaning against a tree for support. The button unhooked itself like the first one unknowingly entertaining me with his exposed cleavage.
"What do you mean?"
