Chapter 19

Jason' s P.O.V

Dad and I were there still talking about technology. I was on my laptop going through some spreadsheets for the church. I realized that we were losing more members this year. The world is indeed changing. People are staying home now because of technology. They are having church on their phones. Hopefully, Elijah will bring back more people than ever to the church. He really has a passion for youths and its the right place to begin. " Hey son. That little boy right there is brilliant and the little girl as well. I wonder which one is going to take home the trophy?", dad asked curiously. We stopped for a few minutes giving our attention to the spelling bee competition. As I observed the little boy. I saw that he looked pretty sad. That' s odd. He should be happy. From the looks of things he got every single word correct. I saw his name come up on the screen. JASE. Nice name. Almost close to mine. " Well, what a coincidence. That little boy's name is Jase and he looks just like you. He could be your son. You both look alike. ", dad said putting on his glasses and looking closer. I took a look for myself and he was right. He did look like me and his name was pretty close to mine. " You' re right dad. But I always use protection when I sleep with girls. I' m not stupid", I said looking at him. He lowered his glasses looking at me. " So you have been sleeping around. You are a pastor's son Jason. ", dad said lowering his glasses a little. " Yes. But its not as bad as it sounds. I only slept with like two girls in my entire life so...", I said when he interrupted me. " And who are those?", he asked. " That's private. I' m not going to tell you that", I said kind of laughing. Dad scoffed. As loud as the tv was I could hear the cheering going on in the crowd. The boy whose' s name was Jase had won. " I knew he would come through", dad said smiling.  A smile crept up on Jase' s face. I smiled. I couldn't stop pushing the thought behind me that he had my smile and he looked just like me when I was younger. A thought came to me. " Hey dad, do you have any picture of me when I was smaller?", I asked still looking at the little boy on the television." Yeah. Sure", he said searching his desk and drawers for a picture of me. In quick seconds he found it. " Here you go", he said stretching across the desk and handing me the photo. " Thanks", I said taking it from him. I got up out of the chair and made my way to the television. I placed the photo on the screen next to the little boy; close enough to observe both. " That boy is definitely yours"  dad said. " Now, let's talk. Write down all the names of the persons who you slept with since the past 5 years", dad said handing me a book and a pen.
