CHAPTER 6: Gabe Goes to Heaven

A blinding flash of light.

Gabe awoke with a start. Sitting bolt upright, she gasped and looked around. She was panting. Her heart was pounding in her chest. What was going on? Where was she? Taking in her surroundings, she realized that she was in a room that looked like a scene from a historical television drama, with wooden floor, furniture carefully designed with intricate carvings, and a boy dressed in robes lying on a big, grand bed, asleep. Where on earth was she? Wait, was she even on earth? The last thing she remembered was getting knocked down by the car, and she thought she was dead. Gabe looked down at herself. Her clothes were stained with her blood, but standing up and testing her legs gingerly, flexing her fingers, she realized that she felt fine. She must be dead. She must be in heaven. But if she was dead, why could she feel her heart pounding?

Gabe's eyes landed on the boy. His sleeping form rose up and down gently with each breath as he snored softly. He wore his hair in a topknot, his pale skin completely flawless. His face looked like it was cut out from the pages of a magazine, and there was an air of royalty and grandeur about him. Maybe she could ask him where she was?

"Hey," Gabe whispered, shaking the boy awake.

"Go away, I still want to sleep some more," the boy mumbled and flipped around to face the opposite side.

"Wake up!" Gabe yelled in his ear.

"What!" The boy sat up and turned to face her, looking annoyed. The moment his eyes landed on her, his expression changed. His eyes widened in shock and his mouth fell open. Lifting a trembling finger, he pointed at Gabe. Gabe noticed that he was wearing a watch on that hand. It looked exactly like the one her mother gave her, the one she lost today. It's strange, how did it get there?

"Ass-ass-ass...," the boy seemed to be struggling to say something, but all Gabe could make out was "ass".

"Are you cursing at me?" Gabe stared into his eyes.

"Ass-assassin!" The boy finally said as he shuffled backwards to the other end of his bed.
