The Disappearing Act

Kingdom of the Plains, OverWorld

Dusk

Daniel and Petra were giving the new arrival, Scarlet, a tour of the Kingdom. The stars were twinkling in the night sky, and the moon shines bright.

Everyone was still awake, finishing up their daily tasks. The farmers were hurdling their cows and sheep back into their barn for the night. The farmers didn't want the wolves coming after their animals.

The statues of Daniel and Petra were still under construction. Once those are finished, the statues will be a symbol of their willingness and bravery. The entire kingdom was united as one.

After the battle had ceased, and the Kingdom was built, both Daniel and Petra worked together to heighten the security and safety of the Kingdom. Their first step was to build a wall around everything. The wall was nearing completion. Cobblestone was chosen to build the wall.

Spanning almost twelve blocks into the air, the wall was impenetrable from both sides. Stationed outside, up against the wall, were members of the Guardsman. The Guardsmen were the Kingdom's protectors. The only gate leading into the Kingdom was closed, and protected by three Guardsmen.

The horse neighed, the cows moo'd, and the pigs oinked. As the night sky began to settle in, everyone was beginning to go back to their homes for the evening. It was getting late after all. Tomorrow is going to be an extremely busy day.

"Thank you for the tour, your majesty's," Scarlet said as she smiled, "I hope you didn't mind me coming here?"

Daniel and Petra looked at Scarlet. Daniel was wearing his golden crown, and Petra was wearing her silver tiara. They both shook their heads.

"No worries my friend," Daniel said, "you're safe. That's all that matters. Let's go back to the Castle. I hope you're hungry."

"Extremely hungry," Scarlet responded as she began following behind Daniel and Petra.

They continued walking back towards the Castle. When they arrived at the front entrance, Victor bowed before his King and Queen.

"Welcome back your majesties," Victor said.

"Victor," Queen Petra said, "good to see you again. May you let us enter please?"

"Of course your majesty," Victor responded as he looked over at Fredrick. Victor nodded his head. Fredrick then opened the door to the castle and allowed Scarlet, Daniel, and Petra to pass.

Once inside the Kingdom, Scarlet was amazed at how big the halls of the Castle were. Cobblestone walls, oak wood floors, and large red stone torch chandeliers hanging from the curved ceiling.

"This place is so big. How long did it take for you to build this?" Scarlet asked as she examined the architecture of the castle. There were paintings hanging on the wall. There was one picture of King Daniel and Queen Petra standing next to one another.

Daniel and Petra exchanged quick glances at each other. They laughed slightly. "You wouldn't believe us even if we told you."

"I'm all ears," Scarlet responded, continuing to glance at the beauty of the castle she was in.

"The Gods of the OverWorld gifted us with this entire Kingdom," Daniel answered, "after we defeated EnderBrine and NetherBrine."

"Wasn't there a third one?" Scarlet asked.

"You mean HeroBrine?" Petra asked.

"Yes. Did you defeat him too? Where is he now?" Scarlet asked.

"My almighty. You're full of questions, Scarlet," Daniel said, sharing a laugh with Scarlet and Petra.

As they came to the end of the hallway, they all stopped walking. Daniel and Petra both glanced at one another before looking at Scarlet.

Scarlet was a red haired, brown eyed blockhead. She was wearing a green shirt and tan pants with sandals. A very casual look; and an unsuspicious one too.

"It's been one heck of a night. I'm glad you're safely inside the kingdom. May we pick up where we left off tomorrow morning? Perhaps over breakfast?" Petra asked Scarlet.

Scarlet put her hands behind her back and smiled. She nodded her head. "Of course. I'd be delighted to have breakfast with you, your majesties," Scarlet said as she bowed before her saviors King Daniel and Queen Petra.

"Breakfast it shall be then. Good evening," Petra said. "Our friend Victor will show you to your quarters for the evening. Tomorrow is a big day for us all."

"Queen Petra is right," Daniel said, "you should get some sleep Scarlet. In the morning, I shall mount a scouting team to go and hunt down those Pillagers. They'll be back. I have a feeling."

"You've both done so much for me. I mustn't ask of you guys anymore," Scarlet said, "but thank you for taking me in. I'm forever in your debt."

"It's what we do. Good evening Scarlet. Sleep well," Daniel said as both he and Petra smiled. They then turned and began walking down another hallway towards their suite.

As they were walking away down the hall, Scarlet stood there watching them. She put her hands down by her sides. As Victor is walking over to her, she says something only she could hear.

"We shall continue this over breakfast," Scarlet whispered to herself, "the only bad thing is, you two won't be here to attend. My plan has begun."

"What plan?" Victor asked.

"Oh nothing. Just mumbling to myself is all," Scarlet said, "they told me you would show me to my room for the evening, yes?"

Victor held his arm out in front of him. He was pointing down the hallway towards the sleeping quarters. "Right this way, madam."

"Oh please," Scarlet said, "call me Scarlet. No need for the proper manners, Victor."

"My apologies Scarlet," Victor said as he began walking down the hallway next to Scarlet.

"It's quite alright," Scarlet said, "now tell me...what makes this Kingdom so special?"

"For one, we have the best King and Queen in the entire OverWorld. Everyone respects them. The King and Queen are the very backbone of this Kingdom. If it weren't for them, the Kingdom of the Plains wouldn't exist."

"Hmm..interesting," Scarlet said, "go on."

The Next Morning

Castle

Scarlet came running out of King Daniel and Queen Petra's room. They were nowhere in sight. They were missing. Scarlet was panicking.

She had gone to the Dining Hall to have breakfast with them, but when they never showed up, she began to worry. That's when she decided to come back and check to see if they were okay.

"Come quick!" Scarlet shouted, "the King and Queen are missing!"

Victor and several members of the Guard came rushing down the hallway. Victor walked up to Scarlet and set his hand on her shoulder. He was attempting to try and calm her down.

"Scarlet," Victor said, "what happened?"

"We were supposed to have breakfast this morning," Scarlet said, "I went to the Dining Hall and waited. When they never showed up, I began to worry. That's when I came back to their room to see that they were missing."

Victor turned around to look at his men. "Find the King and Queen now! I'll stay with Scarlet. Now go! And keep it quiet about the King and Queen's disappearance. I don't want to cause panic among the Kingdom."

"Where could they have gone?" Scarlet asked.

"I'm not sure," Victor said.

"The last thing I remember was hearing a glass bottle breaking. That's all I heard. I didn't think much of it, but I just thought I'd tell you. Is that helpful?" Scarlet asked.

"At this moment, every little detail is helpful," Victor said, "thank you Scarlet."

Victor then slowly backed away and then went running down the hallway, leaving Scarlet alone. She faintly smiled as she put her hands behind her back.

"No thank you, Victor. Abracadabra," Scarlet said, "now phase two begins. All I have to do is convince the people to vote for me as their new Queen until Daniel and Petra find their way home. That is if they remember of course."

She then laughed evilly. "Soon this Kingdom will have a new leader. The Evil Queen Scarlet," she said, "I kind of like that name. It fits me."
