The Lone Rangers

Desert Biome, OverWorld

Dusk

"We're here," Robert said as he hopped off of his horse. He grabbed the rope and tied his horse up to it. He led the way. Daniel and Petra followed close behind.

"What is this place?" Daniel asked as he began looking all around. There were small houses made of smooth sandstone and carved sandstone. There were people riding around the town on their horses.

The town was very much alive. People were sitting down in chairs on their wooden patios tying ropes and such, thus creating lassos. But lassos weren't the only thing they were making. They were crafting iron swords, armor, and all necessities to survive.

Night was approaching. The towns patrolmen were preparing to protect the town from any unwanted mobs such as Zombies, Creepers, and Skeletons. Robert took the ropes off of Daniel and Petra. They were lying on their stomachs on the sandy ground.

The town's children came running up to Sheriff Robert to see what he had brought back with him. All of this attention caught the eye of the town's leader. She came out of her house and examined all of the commotion.

"Sheriff?" She said, "what's going on?"

She began walking towards him, realizing what Robert had brought back to the town. She stopped when she saw who the two people were.

"Found these two out in the forest," Robert said, "thought I'd bring them back to town. Told 'em you'd want to see them."

She frowned, giving Sheriff Robert a weary gaze. She crossed her arms. "Wake them up!"

Robert walked over to them and slightly kicked them. Daniel first, then Petra. They instantly awoke from their sleep. Daniel and Petra stood up faster than anyone had ever seen someone move before.

"State your reasons for being in our territory!" One cowboy shouted.

"Who are you?" Another cowboy asked.

"We—we don't know," Petra said, "we only remember waking up in the middle of the forest."

"How do you not know? Did you lose your memory or something?" The town's leader asked.

"I say we give them the good ol' boot. Kick 'em out of town!" A man said.

"Where even are we?" Petra asked as she gave her surroundings another good examination, "in a desert?"

"Right on partner," Robert said as the leader raised her arm into the air.

"That's enough. Everyone back to work. This town won't protect itself," the female leader said as the crowd dispersed. Everyone went back to what they were working on.

The woman walked up to Daniel and Petra. Sheriff Robert was standing right behind them next to his horse. Daniel and Petra stared at her. Was she going to do something bad? Or was she coming over to them to simply just talk?

"The name's Elena. Protector and leader of this town," Elena said as she introduced herself to Daniel and Petra, "what are your names?"

"I don't know. I can't remember," Daniel said.

"Neither can I," Petra responded.

Elena stood in place, examining both of them. She knew something was odd about Daniel and Petra. Elena remained quiet as she did so.

"I know you two looked familiar," Elena said, "you're the King and Queen. The first King and Queen to exist on the OverWorld in ages."

"I'm a King?" Daniel questioned.

"I'm a Queen?" Petra asked.

"Yes," Elena said.

Sheriff Robert walked up to Elena. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder. They both turned around to talk.

"I think they're under the influence of the Memory Loss Potion. Maybe that explains why they don't remember anything," Robert whispered to Elena.

"These parts aren't meant for a King and Queen," Elena mentioned, "and you said you just happened to come around and find them?"

"Precisely. When I saw them they were just lying on the ground. At first, I thought they were dead," Robert mentioned. "I gently kicked each of them, instantly waking them up."

"I wonder how they ended up there in the first place," Elena said curiously. "What if they were kidnapped and dumped there?"

"But who would do such a thing to a King and Queen?" Robert asked.

Elena turned her head and looked at Robert. "They need our help. What if they were dropped off there by someone? Whomever this blockhead is, they're sure going through a lot of hard work to pull this stunt off," Elena suspected that something was wrong. There has to be someone behind all of this."

"Maybe there is?" Robert said.

Elena glanced over at Robert. After she did that, she turned around to face Daniel and Petra. Robert turned around too.

"So here's the scoop. We'll help you find your way back home. But only under one circumstance—you two help protect us from any future threats. Deal?" Elena asked.

Daniel glanced over at Petra, then back at Elena and Robert.

"We have ourselves a deal," Daniel said as he accepted Elena's terms. Daniel and Elena shook hands, thus putting their terms into effect.

Nightfall was fast approaching. The Sun was almost gone. The moon was beginning to rise. This meant that the nocturnal mobs were beginning to roam the world in search of their next target.

"We must get inside now. Before it's too late. I don't want to end up having to deal with those evil creatures," Elena mentioned, "follow me. Quickly!"

As Daniel and Petra followed behind Elena, they finally remembered something. By the looks of it, their memory loss was beginning to die off. The first thing they remembered were their names.

"Petra?" Daniel said.

"Daniel? What happened?" Petra asked.

"I'm not sure. I don't remember much since the other night. After that, everything was a blur," Daniel explained.

"Me too," Petra responded.

"C'mon. My house is right up here," Elena said as a loud man shouting disturbed everyone.

Without any hesitation, Elena turned around to see who was shouting. Near the main entrance to the town, a herd of Zombies, Creepers, and Skeletons we're approaching. But wait! Those evil creatures weren't alone. They're being accompanied by Endermen too.

"Everyone! To your fighting stations! Now!" Elena shouted as the entire town suddenly jumped into action. Everyone was running around like headless chickens. Elena grabbed her diamond sword out from her inventory. She glanced at Daniel and Petra.

"Can you guys fight?" She asked.

"Yes," Petra responded, "we can."

"Good. Now grab your swords and help us fight!" Elena shouted as she ran away towards the incoming herd of monsters. Daniel and Petra both glanced at each other.

"Do we know how to fight?" Daniel asked.

"Let's find out," Petra said as she grabbed a stone sword out of her inventory. Daniel did the same. Compared to Petra's sword, Daniel's was stronger. He had an iron sword.

Together, they went running towards the danger. Elena and a few other townspeople were in full-on combat. Swinging their swords around, hitting the evil mobs.

Once Daniel and Petra were close enough to some Zombies, they began swinging their swords at them. Although most of their swings missed by a long shot, they still tried their best to fight.

Just before Petra could swing her sword again at a Zombie, a Skeleton shot an arrow at her. Petra looked over at the Skeleton momentarily. Because she did that, the zombie she was originally fighting walked up to her and hit her with his arms.

Petra focused her attention back on the Zombie. She swung her sword, managing to hit the Zombie. Again, the Skeleton shot another arrow at her. Only this time, Petra dodged his arrow by hopping out of the way.

The second arrow the Skeleton shot missed Petra, of course, but struck Daniel. He jumped because he didn't see that arrow coming. He was too preoccupied with another Zombie.

"Someone help!" Petra said, "we're hurt. Please!"

Elena heard Petra's desperate cry for help. She swung her sword once more at the Creeper she was fighting. The Creeper hissed and then fell over onto its side and vanished. It dropped three pieces of gunpowder. An important ingredient to make T.N.T.

"Lex!" Elena shouted, "tell everyone not to look into the Enderman's eyes. Just leave them alone."

Lex, Elena's close friend and warrior, went running towards the people who were fighting. He began warning all of the fighters not to look at the Enderman's eyes.

Elena ran as fast as she could over to Daniel and Petra. They were becoming overwhelmed by some Zombies and Skeletons. As she approached them, she sliced a Skeleton's head clean off. It died, but didn't drop anything.

Petra grabbed ahold of Daniel's arm and pulled him back up onto his feet. He held onto Petra's hand tightly.

"You two! Get to safety. I'll take over from here," Elena said, "I'll meet you at my house once this fight is over. Now go!"

Daniel and Petra began making their way back to Elena's house. Hopefully the fight will be over soon. Both Daniel and Petra walked up to her house. Petra opened the oak wood door, walking into Elena's house. She shut the door behind her.

"Daniel," Petra said, "are you okay?"

"I'll survive," Daniel responded, "I'm just upset."

"Why is that?" Petra asked.

"Because I have a feeling that we used to know how to fight. And now we can't? We need to figure this out soon," Daniel responded.

"And we will figure this all out," Petra said, "I promise you that we will find the answers we seek."
