She swallowed her saliva as she leaned over. "I'm sorry. What is it?"
April 's bright eyes and bright smile appeared in her sight. "He came here to renovate the kitchen."
"Yes, I heard," Atiya turned to Thomas. "I'm sorry. I don't know how you found out that we didn't apply for a kitchen remodel." I expected him to move. Thomas looked at his clipboard and asked, "Are you Atiya Bailey ?" She nodded. "So, is this a suite room?"
She nodded again, her stomach sinking in. Oh my god she is "So I've received an assignment to make for Atiya Bailey in a suite." He turned over his clipboard and tapped the assignment with his finger. She leaned forward. Yes. It was clear. Thomas could read. "I didn't order anything and I definitely can't pay for it." Now she was angry. It was the worst joke ever. Who would do that "Honey, it's paid for," he said. Heat ran through her body. April whistled. "Wow. What did you do to him?" she asked, nodding at Atiya . She gave her aunt a displeased look. "Are you serious?" she asked the two people in front of her. "He really needs to take care of you," April said, standing next to Atiya away from Thomas. "Who paid for this?" she asked. Please don't say Scott . don't say his name She forced her smile while she held her breath and waited. Thomas looked over the work order. "I don't know, oh, it's here. Scott Investments," he said, tapping his fingers on the paper.
"No," she turned and walked back to the mixer. Her frustration and anger raced through her as she stared at the sugar she had just poured into the bowl. Why should he have to pay for his conversion? Didn't you say he was from another world? "Wait," said April , the sound of her clogs getting closer and closer. "What do you mean, I don't want that." She looked down to catch Atiya 's gaze. Atiya just turned around, hoping she wouldn't overdo it. "It's not for nothing when humans do things like that."
Tears were about to fall, but Atiya didn't want to lose today either. She was already crying over Aquila and the fact that he left her things last night. She never had to open her wounds again. April grabbed her by the elbow and gently flipped her over. "What happened? The last thing we knew was that they were both fine. Did something happen yesterday?"
Atiya suppressed her emotions and strengthened her nerves. She never cried for Aquila . she could be stronger. "I don't want a mod. Period. I don't want it from him. I don't want it at all." She went back to the mixer and started it. She hoped that the sound of the machine would drown out everything April said. "Well, good luck. You have no choice in this matter," April said as she walked. Atiya spun around. "I'm sorry, could you say that again?"
April looked straight at her. Atiya forgot for a moment how aggressive her aunt was when she wanted to. "I thank God you don't have to make such a decision," he said.
Atiya opened her lips. "I do not need it."
April shrugged her shoulders. "Regardless of what happened last night, if Aquila wants to invest in this bakery, I'll allow it. I'm not stupid enough to turn down a good thing. It might really help us. If not, it could help increase the value of this building. "
A fever ran down Atiya 's back. There was no reason I wanted to work in a kitchen funded by Scott Investments. Wasn't the only reason they were friends to get him out of all this? For so many reasons, it felt like a slap in the face. "But…" April raised a finger, wishing she had a good reason not to. "This is my building. This is my building." That's my decision," she turned, motioning Thomas to follow her. "Now let's go over the details."
Atiya glared at her as they left her kitchen and entered the store. She wanted to run after them and say she couldn't do that. She didn't want to owe Aquila Scott anything. She yelled, she wanted to explain that she wasn't going to bake bread in her remodeled kitchen. She exhaled slowly. She was not a cranky teenager. She was a grown woman, but grown women don't act like that. Instead of losing her composure, she took all her annoyance out on baking. And she wasn't going to leave until everything was resolved.
