Memories

Her mind was blank as Kyo SeolJu dove into the song. Returning to the room, the boys became enthralled by her performance. Kang SeoMin couldn't help but step in and start to sing. As the other boys joined them, dancing and singing along to her music, it didn't feel out of place for Kyo SeolJu to be with them. As the twins and Roman Meng watched from the side they felt, she complimented them and made them stronger. Both students and teachers gathered to watch the performance they were unknowingly giving. As the last song played, the six boys were left panting with sweat dripping down their faces. Roman Meng started to pat Kyo SeolJu's face dry with a soft pink towel while the twins fanned her.

"You just got back. You should rest."

Unlike his usual cold tone, Roman Meng's voice carried a hint of worry when lightly scolding Kyo SeolJu. Her soft giggles and bright pink face made her look innocent and carefree as she tightly hugged her cousin's arm.

"I'm fine! I would feel worse if I didn't get some practice!"

"You were amazing, baby sis! Now eat before we have to get back to class."

Kyo Ryujin tousled her hair and shoved a sandwich in her mouth. Surprised, she looked up at him with her big blinking eyes and slowly chewed with her chipmunk-like cheeks. Taking one of the loaves of bread they brought, she stuffed it in Kyo Ryujin's mouth.

"Cho on dat!"

She tried to speak with her mouth full as she continued to put more food in his mouth. The boys watched Kyo Ryujin struggle against Kyo SeolJu until he couldn't take anymore.

"Serves you right!"

She laughed, brushing the crumbs off her brother's face. He just about choked on the food before finally swallowing it.

"You tried to kill me!"

Kyo Ryujin's pale face would make one think he was looking at a ghost. He looked at the guys for backup only to find them standing behind Kyo Seolju, silently supporting her. Shaking his head and rolling his eyes, he smiled and hugged his little sister. The group sat around Kyo Seolju as they ate and laughed together. The boy's phone simultaneously vibrated, and they all stood, dusting themselves off.

"Time for class."

Kang SeoMin helped Kyo SeolJu to her feet and tucked her hair behind her ear. Blushing, she asked.

"Which class is it?"

"Military!"

Kang SeoJun and Cho HaYun shouted, pulling Kyo SeolJu along with them. They quickly arrived at the Military hall just before the general walked in. Glaring at them, the General called for Kyo SeolJu and asked as gently as possible.

"Did they take care of you, little one?"

Her ponytail swayed as she nodded, smiling, and grabbing his hand.

"Would you like to try shooting?"

Leading her to a gunrack, he took down the most lightweight gun. Her small milky white hand gripped the shiny black gun tightly. She carefully examined the gun before standing in front of the target and setting her sights on the center. Her narrow finger delicately squeezed the trigger and released a bullet from the chamber. The bullet hit center mass, perfectly connecting with its target. They stared in shock, her shaking hands going unnoticed by most. Kang Seomin came behind her holding her hands and her body relaxed into his chest as she listened to the calm beating of his heart by her ear.

"Is there anything she can't do?"

Cho HaYun mumbled, nudging Kang SeoJun's shoulder. Kang SeoJun quickly shook his head, saying.

"If she can't do it, she'll practice till she becomes the best."

"My family."

Her whisper was almost unheard as Kang SeoMin gazed down at the girl in his arms.

"I can't protect my family."

His arms stiffened as tears formed in her eyes, threatening to fall.

"Let me help you."

His finger reinforced hers, pulling the trigger together. Once again, the bullet hit center mass, but Kyo SeolJu felt like it pierced her heart. This boy had no reason to treat her kindly or look at her with eyes filled with love. He claimed he knew her, but if that was true, why didn't he come for her. He should have been there when she opened her eyes and held her hand while telling her everything would be alright. Did she mess up? Was he hurt too? Her sealed memories were a constant wall, but that didn't mean she couldn't look through his. Taking a deep breath, the familiar pain of another person's memories flooded her brain.

*memories*

"I'm not leaving her!"

A very young and blood-covered Kang SeoMin yelled at his parents as he stared at the unconscious Kyo SeolJu through the glass doors.

"You can't do anything for her! You're hurting her! Do you think she would be happy seeing you covered in blood?! The longer you stay here, the quicker they'll find her!"

Kang InBok roared, infuriated by the whole situation.

'Why? I only wanted to stay with my little wifey. Why must I be the one to leave her?!"

Sorrow and rage mingled on his face as tears fell from his bright golden eyes. With tears in her eyes, she hugged her son like he would disappear if she loosed even a little.

"My baby, we just got you both back. I can't afford to lose you again. They-they put trackers in you. They knew there was no way you would ever leave her. They held you for weeks! We couldn't find you anywhere! They get closer the longer trackers are in you! You have to leave! Now!"

Kang Yeona held his face in her hands, ensuring he heard every word. Complicated emotions swirled in his eyes as he looked between his parents and the girl he loved.

Letting a heart-wrenching sigh escape from his pouting lips, he slowly nodded and followed the soldier waiting to take him to the helicopter.

"Hubby!"

The frightened voice of his Kyo SeolJu stopped him in his tracks, not daring to turn around.

"Min Min! Don't leave me!"

Her sobs shook his heart and made him turn to her. Seeing her crying was unbearable, and the pair tried to run to each other but were held back.

"Take him away!"

Kang InBok held the thrashing Kyo SeolJu while yelling at the soldier dragging Kang SeoMin to the helicopter.

"Min Min!"

"Ju Ju!"

The couple called, reaching for each other. Finally, Kang SeoMin was pulled into the helicopter and fainted.

Kyo SeolJu quickly pulled out of his memories, not wanting to see him hurt again. With her body on the verge of collapse, she started to hyperventilate and lost consciousness.
