Tools

Exiting the cavern and squeezing my way out again I start to get to work making tools. first I need stone walking over to the lake on to the white sand beach around it I find some decent sized stones and grab a few and sit down on the sand. It's been a while since I've touched sand. taking two stones a start to smash them together over and over to get them to fragment. It took a while and got my hand bleeding slightly but I managed to break my first stone.

Though it wasn't what I wanted I got no sharp pieces out of it looks like it's not the right type of stone. Oh well, I can make it work I grab another stone and use it to slowly chip away at a large fragment, slowly making the rough shape of a spearhead. I'm using the same technique native Americans used to make spear and arrowheads. while not crazy sharp they will work for now. after successfully creating a spearhead about e inches long I go gather some plant fibers and start to braid the together tightly to great some basic rope.

Splitting the staff I have at the end and putting the spearhead into the slot I use the rope to tie the ends together and firmly securing them. Done, now I have a basic spear for fishing and fighting. well, that was an hour out of the day. looking at the sky I see it's about noon. Plenty of time left in the day next is an ax.

Going through the same process but making a broader ax head out of the stone and a shorter stick for the ax handle I successfully make a primitive stone ax. looking at my hands I see they are bleeding a bit with split skin from the shock of smashing rocks together. but looking closely I can see at a visible rate my hands healing. Nothing crazy fast but still and incredible healing rate. I wonder how far healing factors can go in this game, maybe I can regrow limbs at some point.

Taking my ax I decide to start collecting wood. I'm not going to try and cut down big trees or anything that would take days for a single tree. I decide to cut up fallen logs already on the forest floor they would make great firewood. collecting enough dry wood for a few days of cooking and stuff I head back to the cavern and set it near the back where it's dry. I grabbed some flint earlier on my way here so all I need is some kindling to start a fire rather easily. and nothing beats dry leaves and plant material. plenty of that around.

for now, let's catch a few fish for later tonight. spearfishing will have to do for now. I'm not any good at it as my parameters are a little low on the agility to have a high success rate even if my mind can keep up. after about an hour of stabbing water, I finally caught two fish. nothing special just some bass. I decide to start cooking them now as I'm a little hungry from all the work I've been doing.

Collecting some dry leaves and thatch from the forest floor I head to the cavern and start to pile some wood in the best way to allow airflow into the fire. taking my kindle and bunching it together I start to strike my flint and stone together and aiming the spark towards the kindle to start a small fire going. Once getting it to start smoking I blow on it lightly to get a flame and then slowly set it within my wood stack and slowly add small twigs to the burning kindle. I don't want to smother the fire to fast and but it out, it's important to build the flames slowly.

Once I feel the fire is going strong I leave it to reach a stable flame height and start to clean the fish. I've never done this before but it's simple. Taking my ax I chop their heads off fast and with one clean cut in order to not have the fish suffer. then from there I slowly cut the belly of the fish open and pull out the innards in one motion then go to the waterfall and clean the fish of blood. I'll save the innards and head for bait later for hunting. I can't do anything about the skin or bones without finer cutting tools so for no ill just have to deal with it. taking two long sticks a place the cleaned fish into them and hang them over the fire careful not to get to close and burn them.

letting those cook for a while I decide to focus on making my next tool. Just a small stone knife for carving wood. using the same method I used for the ac and spear a great a small four-inch knife and handle in one. Somewhat dull in standards of a real knife but it will due for now. grabbing a somewhat thick log I start to whittle the wood down into the shape of a shovel. A tool that I will be needing a lot for my future plans. after making a small shovel about the size of a garden shovel I check on this fish.

Slightly burned, Great. well, it will take practice to perfect the culinary arts I've always ordered out and never cooked before. It will have to do taking my first bite of food in the game I was surprised at the flavor. Even while burned it was still very good. with no seasoning, I'm surprised it's so good maybe because it's fresh. I quickly devour my food filling myself, now I need water. I should be fine during the water from the waterfall for now the water is really clean and clear so that will do for now.

My next goal now will be a basic forge. I can use mud from the lake to build a small forge to smelt dirt from the forest and slowly extract the iron from it. It's a long process but necessary in order for me to advance faster. I need metals even the most basic of them to be able to cut down trees and properly get building.
