Royal Father

As soon as Bai Shuixian exited the fog of the village, she realized one thing. She had no idea where the capital was. It was not her fault, really.

A little embarrassed, Bai Shuixian told Lin Dalong, "Um… Your Highness, which way am I supposed to turn to reach the capital?"

Bai Shuixian had paused and was standing on a tree branch with proficient balance as Lin Dalong was forced to continue leaning himself on her right shoulder. It shocked him to the core to find her standing on such a thin branch and not breaking it, but he did not show his reaction. He was already surprised to know that such a skillful physician was living in the mountains, no less someone with such outstanding qinggong.

"Go east. Just follow the sun. At some point, you'll see the sea," Lin Dalong told her. "If the sea is green, go north. If it is blue, go south."

Nodding her head in understanding, Bai Shuixian did as Lin Dalong said. Soon, they reached the ocean, but because she was traveling so fast, he could not see the colors or any landmarks that he used to travel. However, she was able to see that the water was emerald green, so she changed directions and traveled north.

Lin Dalong could not see, but he could still feel the change of directions so he asked, "That fast?"

Though Bai Shuixian wanted to answer, they had already crashed into a stone wall, so she asked while softly rubbing her head, "Is this the capital borders?"

"Looking at the height and color, yes," Lin Dalong answered while frowning as he just thought of another problem. "We can't enter from the front gates."

"Ah? Why?" Bai Shuixian asked, letting him rest on the stone wall for a moment and checking on his wounds.

He wanted to tell her the answer, but when he thought about how she could get involved in their royal affairs, he closed his mouth instead and only opened it to tell her, "If my enemies see me weak, they'll take this chance to strike."

Seeing that Lin Dalong was speaking logic, Bai Shuixian leaped up above the wall and landed on the stone ground. When she looked around for guards or people, she saw that there was no one patrolling the upper parts of the wall like she thought. According to the books she read, there were always guards that would be standing on the wall to see if there were any intruders or important people coming.

When Bai Shuixian stopped moving and was looking around, Lin Dalong thought that she was trying to survey for the guards or to find the royal palace, so he said, "The tallest building in the capital is the palace."

Hearing his words, Bai Shuixian stared straight to the heart of the capital and saw the tallest building. With a few jumps and sprinting, she ended up standing on the pole that stood out from the roof. At this point, she also realized that he only told her to come to the royal palace and did not know where to place him in a spot that could be considered "safe".

Looking at the surroundings, Lin Dalong realized that they were standing on top of the resting quarters for the emperor, so he told her, "Enter this building."

Listening to him, Bai Shuixian jumped down from the tall pole to the entrance of the resting quarters and planned to enter it like he said. However, the moment she took a step forward, she was stopped by two imposing guards. At once, she sighed internally, "So, these are the guards depicted by novels…"

Despite being weak, Lin Dalong managed to struggle out a strong tone at the guards, "You dare block this prince!"

As soon as his forceful voice left his body, the guards bowed with respect and said, "Your Highness, it is only that strangers are not allowed into His Majesty's quarters."

A little dizzy as he was tired from the fast moving travel, Lin Dalong weakly ordered, "Call for Royal Father. Tell him to not call for a physician. This prince has already found a capable physician."

Receiving their orders, the guards left, leaving another person in charge of their post as they went to inform the emperor who was currently in a meeting. As for Lin Dalong, the moment they entered the resting quarters, Bai Shuixian laid him on the dragon bed. The moment that his head hit the soft pillow belonging to the emperor, he passed out from exhaustion.

Silently shaking her head, Bai Shuixian spoke under her breath, "I knew that you would be like this."

Bai Shuixian knew that the wounds on his feet would not increase since she carried most of his weight, so she did not check it. The only place that she checked were the stab wounds on his torso as it had started to bleed again. With steady hands, she undressed him and unwrapped the bloody gauzes from his body.

The moment that Bai Shuixian finished cleaning up the bloody torso, Lin Tengfei came over. Since he received news from Lin Dalong that there was no need to call over a physician, he already expected to see someone by his bedside, so because of that, even though he saw her, he did not react too strongly about it. Especially knowing that it was her who brought him to the imperial palace.

"How is my son?" Lin Tengfei asked, worry laced in his eyes and words.

"Your Majesty has no need to worry. His Highness has done well in making sure the wounds are merely external wounds. No matter how gruesome it looks, it is not as bad as it looks like," Bai Shuixian answered, not looking at Lin Tengfei, but at the medicine she was shaking in order to activate it.

Hearing that, Lin Tengfei heaved a relieved sigh, "That is good. If anything bad were to happen to him, this father would be guilty for life."

After a long period of silence with Lin Tengfei staring at her applying the medicine and wrapping a new set of gauze, Bai Shuixian finally said, "Your Majesty, since His Highness is not in danger, I shall leave now. Since the prince is a national figure, he must surely want to recover fast, so I shall leave behind the medicine I have used on him today. Please tell the servants to reapply the medicine after every bath."

Saying this, Bai Shuixian handed the power bottle in her hand to the eunuch beside the emperor. As she did so, the eunuch examined her. For some reason, he felt that she looked a little familiar.

Just before she was about to leave though, Bai Shuixian thought of another thing, "Ah, I do now know if His Highness is self-conscious of scars, but in any case, he is a royalty. Use this essence whenever His Highness bathes. It will aid in getting rid of the scar."

Feeling that she had finished what she promised, Bai Shuixian finally started walking out. It was at this moment that Lin Tengfei thought of something. White clothes with silver embroidery and a white silk cloth that covered the entire head…

"Miss…" Lin Tengfei immediately called out as soon as he figured out her real identity.

Turning back, Bai Shuixian asked, "Is there anything Your Majesty would like to request?"

Though he did not use big gestures, Lin Tengfei humbled his speech as he spoke, "May Zhen ask what is Miss's name? As the savior of His Highness, Zhen believes you should be rewarded grandly."

Responding to Lin Tengfei, Bai Shuixian answered, "Please call me Miss Tou and there is no need for you to reward me. His Highness has promised to return the favor to me. Please tell him to find me in the Bai Residence."

Leaving behind those words, Bai Shuixian left. She did not care that she had grandly rejected the offer Lin Tengfei made, nor did she care that she was being disrespectful by not being tactful. It was not that she did not care about consequences, but that she knew that Lin Dalong would take care of those things for her since he owed her a favor.

When Bai Shuixian left the imperial palace, she did not leave behind any traces due to her advanced qinggong. The only hint that she left behind for Lin Tengfei was the Bai Residence, but he did not know which Bai Residence she was talking about and whether it was even in the capital. He was trying to find her merely because of the fact that she was a famous and renowned physician who rose out of nothing.

Her skills were a necessity that Lin Tengfei found useful at the side of Lin Dalong which was why he expended efforts to search for her. However, when he tried to find her at all the Bai Residences, he found no traces of her. Of course, it would not be like that if he put the decrepit Bai Residence that had fallen from grace into thought.

However, it was merely another person who was a victim of their own smarts. Lin Tengfei never expected that the physician people called Miss Tou was actually the only descendant left of the Bai Family. Even if he knew, he would not have done anything to her though since she was a female and not a male, and there were too many secrets in the Bai Family just like the royal family.

When Bai Shuixian finally came back to the imperial palace a week had already passed. Lin Dalong was not fully healed yet, but since her medicine was of such high quality, he was able to move around like normal without pain. Since he could move with the same amount of integrity as the past, he decided to go to the Bai Residence and finally fulfill his side of the favor.
