Section 167: The Truth Seeker

The three of us silently gazed at each other, the air-filled in a pure awkwardness. I silently stare at the man who just saved me, Joel's eyes scrutinizing Ender who is uncomfortable. The two men are battling each other gaze, a silent rivalry formed between them without my notice.

I coughed awkwardly as the two then averted their eyes to meet my scarlet one. First I need to talk to Joel and apologize for my behavior, I don't want him to think of me less, I am unable to save his mother after all.

I could only think that I had upset him by messing up again. I bowed my hand deeply toward Joel who is still sobbing, the man drowned in his sorrow.

I hugged him, uncertain if that's the right thing but I did it anyway. Joel laced his arms around my waist as he buried his teary eyes on my shoulder. We passed the first trial but I wonder if we're going to pass the next one, this has come to my attention that we're wasting our time here by not finding the truth.
