"…there's a call for you," the assistant opened the door and peeked inside the man's huge room, holding a phone in his hand. The man in the room turned his head and looked at the assistant in surprise.
He was seated in the laced couch of the room comfortably after a heated meeting not less than an hour ago. His silken coat was still well ironed and the pleats on his pants still stark clear. He got up like a king and walked over to the assistant before holding the phone in his hand.
"The New York Commissioner of Police?" he lifted an eyebrow before putting the phone to his ear. A low serious conversation ensued and the man looked over at the TV news channel that was silently playing on the other end of the room. He nodded before cutting the phone and handing it to the assistant.
"Shall I make everything ready?" the assistant asked, already knowing what the situation at hand was.
After a few seconds, the man nodded and retreated into his room, "Prepare eight rooms then."
...…
A couple of hours earlier…
Ashe kicked on the car door and screamed harder. The police officers tried telling her time and time again that they won't respond and had passed out somehow, but she was deaf. Tasha couldn't believe how the normally calm and composed Ashe was acting now.
She was crazy. She was mad. In Tasha's eyes she looked like a raged bull, her hair flying all over her face as she threatened to break the bullet proof glass open with her shoes.
"Ashe…stop."
She didn't hear, she kept thrashing as Tasha tried to tell her to stop again. Soon, reinforcements came in the form of ten other police cars with 2-3 police officers from each car. They all filed out into the dark secluded area with guns in their hands, all pointed at Ashe and Tasha.
The two girls froze at the blaze of blue and red lights hitting their eyes directly. Ashe squealed as another officer brought in the much needed hand cuffs and finally locked Tasha and Ashe in place.
Ashe watched in defeat as the black car's door was opened and the seemingly lifeless bodies of the six boys were taken out. She narrowed her eyes as she watched the six boys.
They were…on Sleep Mode! She gasped and looked around. You could change that only by clicking their latches open or with the help of that card. Ashe's card was uselessly lying in her pocket and she didn't enable Sleep Mode on them with her thoughts…
So the only one who knew about this controlling thing was Lucas…could he have found their latches and put them to sleep mode?
Ashe shook her head, 'No, that can't be. Lucas is in jail.' No way.
BANG!
All the officers looked up and saw the driver of the black car come out, a red cap on his head as he pointed to the gun into the air. "Leave the six alone," he threatened, pointing the gun towards the officers. They all froze and started murmuring.
"That isn't a police officer? Then who is it?"
"What is this, a breach?"
The blue lights and red lights interchanged on the driver's face and Ashe caught the blue sparkling eyes under his cap and cursed under her breath, "Shit, I was right. It was Lucas after all. How did he manage to escape, that jerk…"
"PUT YOUR GUN DOWN!" a lady police officer boomed through the loudspeaker, but Lucas shook his head, "Put my boys down, first."
Ashe wanted to scoff. 'My boys'? He probably wanted them so he could play with them for herself. Ashe remember Saye saying that Lucas was a video game fanatic.
"Do as we say, or we will not hesitate to shoot!"
Some of the officers were already reporting it to the national authorities for higher measures. Six national offenders, an abuser with 17 cases against him and an extremely brainy teenage girl was the last thing they needed on their last shifts before they went home.
Lucas laughed and swung the gun carelessly before a quick bullet banged and left the gun and lodged itself inside the leg of the lady police officer. She screamed and fell to the floor.
After that, it was blood bath. Lucas made a run for it, but got shot on his shoulder and fell down on his face. Another lady slipped out of the black car and slapped the officer who shot Lucas down. Tasha and I exchanged a confuse gaze.
Rose?
Tasha clicked her tongue like she knew this would happen. This was more confirmation that she was a Spider. Maybe she was the one who rodered Lucas to get the six boys back.
Rose leaped into the air to an unbelievable height and Ashe stared at her go.
'She's not human…' she thought along with the 20 other officers who could do nothing but stare. Rose came down upon the crowd and pierced them all with a rain of thick needles she threw at them.
Rose walked up to Tasha and patted her head, "What, did you think I saved Lucas because I cared for him?" she laughed into her hear, "I wanted to use him. Good luck destroying the world, Tasha."
"You're the one destroying it," Tasha gritted through her teeth.
"That's where you are wrong…all this is for a good cause."
"Hypocrite."
Rose smirked and leaned forward, her huge chest pressing against Tasha's modest ones, "I like you. I have a feeling the Spiders will have a purpose for you soon. Wait for our call."
Bullets were fired left and right as the officers tried to shove Tasha and Ashe into the cars. Rose picked Lucas up and touched his wound. She bent down and licked it, sending buzzes of pleasure down Lucas's spine.
"Rose…now's not the time…"
Rose chuckled and patted his shoulder, "There, you're all okay now."
Lucas looked in surprise at his shoulder which was back to normal. He grinned and gripped his gun harder as he shot down more guards to get to the six boys. Ashe looked up at the officer, "Sir, they're out cold, the six boys. I can reboot them. I know how to. It will make it easier for you to get out of here."
'At least that way, they can use their powers,' Ashe completed the rest in her head. After a little persuading, the officer finally agreed but only un-cuffed one hand of hers. They both ducked under the fire as the police defending line gave way so that Ashe could enter and soon, she was over the six, unlatching them and flipping their Sleep Mode off.
One by one, they started to rouse, blinking their eyes to find themselves waking up in the middle of the street. Seeing Ashe, they slightly calmed down but the sound of bullets and fire were not helping.
Adrien's eyes locked with Ashe's and a flash of relief and surprise flooded his face. His heart blossomed at this sight of her safe and without a scratch.
"Oooh, look what we have here. Two love birds!" Lucas laughed manically and he grabbed Adrien's collar and lifted him up into the air. Adrien tensed and tried to assess his situation. Tens of police officer injured bodies lay strewn here and there, all bleeding extensively.
Adrien's nose picked up on the blood and his brain went into overdrive.
"Adrien…" Ashe hesitated, seeing his eyes dilute and stare at his face which was slowly losing colour. Water started to drip from his mouth as he stared at the massive amount of blood in front of him.
'I want….I want….' He thought before he actually said it with lust in his eyes. He scuttled at Lucas's hands to let him go, "I want…I want…"
Ashe's heart however, was dropping. The fact that he was once human and now, he was this…that stabbed her right through her chest.
"You sure you want to do this?" Tasha had said, "If the company falls…your family can just live normal lives. It's not half as bad as losing someone you deeply care about."
Was this really the future Ashe had talked about? Turning humans into ravaging monsters. The creation and the thought behind such an amazing technological revolution was great, and that's what Ashe had come to love and respect. But seeing this part of Adrien as a result of this creation…it made her think.
What the hell was she even trying to save?
Adrien jumped out of Lucas's hold and crouched onto the road, deliciously licking the blood of the injured officers. The rest five tried to calm Adrien down and stop Rose and Lucas.
Before anything actually happened, all ceased into a silence as a slow, steady drumming of blades was heard above them.
Everyone in that area looked up to see a helicopter with the country's insignia hovering over them. Their hair flew against the strong whipping of the blades as it dawned a distance away from the main road.
A convoy of formally dressed agents walked out and showed their IDs, proving that they were national agents.
An agent stepped forward and spoke, "We're here to take the robots, Ms Tasha Harris and Ms Ashe Hermann to the White House. The President has requested a meeting with them tomorrow morning."
