A Fountain Without Water

"Chelsea!" he called when he finally caught sight of her. They had wandered into a garden like area of the mansion premises and Kai halted when Chelsea did, panting.

She turned around, her eyes watering in anger, "Why are you here too? I came here to be alone, go away."

Kai stood straight and blinked. He didn't understand a word of her sign language. "I…"

Then she broke out crying, falling onto the marble side of the fountain in the center. It had no water in it as it had been out of order months ago. No one actually came to this place except her so no one bothered to fix it.

Kai ran forward but Chelsea raised a hand and shook her head before wiping her tears and smiling up at him. "I'm okay."

That, he understood. But he also understood that was a lie. "Chelsea, you don't have to be ashamed of who you are." She reached forward and grabbed his hand before writing on it. "But I can't even properly to the people I like, what does that make me?"
