Chapter 14

He is staring at me.

I don't see how this is going to work.

"Dolly," I turn my head, "I don't see how we are going to pull this off," I whisper to my side as I try and ignore Jules's penetrating gaze. Can he sense that I want to run? Do I look nervous? Louis's men are talking in a big group, discussing zombie outbreaks and Tim Lester's men. Jules is currently leaning up against the tank, seemingly not paying attention to what's being said. With his black hat back on, it's hard to gauge his expression in the dark of the night.

More obnoxious vehicles are coming, the ground rumbling.

Jules's men.

I feel like I am in a war zone.

Men with gas masks and heavy artillery pile out and scan the dark land around us. If you listen carefully, you can hear inhuman screeches making me shiver.
