Chapter 21: Questions Yet to be Answered

Breana’s POV

“What does Alex means when she said you’re a bottom?”

“Nothing and no, I’m not a bottom.” She looks flustered, averting her gaze from me as she answered the question.

“Let’s continue watching. Timon and Pumba are about to save the young cub.”

I pouted at her and just drew back my attention at the movie Lion King that we are watching.

Later that night, after showering first, I can’t believe I’m opening Google just to search what does being “a bottom” means while Ari is still in the bathroom. Her flustered face really piqued my interest. Then I clicked on the top result…

Wow.

Why would Alex say that?

Do we look or act like a gay couple?

And why is Ari flustered when Alex teased her? Does it mean…

“Hey, what are you looking at?” a voice emerged from behind me.

I almost jumped from being startled. Ari is looking over my shoulder trying to get a glimpse on what’s on my phone screen. I clicked on the lock button before she could see anything.

“Errr…nothing, just some articles about cats.” I nervously giggled.

“M’kay.”

Ari laid on the bed and opened up her arms, urging me to cuddle with her. I accepted the invitation after turning off the bedside lamp.

We laid facing each other. Her right arm wrapped around my waist with her leg over mine, making me her human pillow.

“Good night BreePup.” I heard the girl whispered.

“Good night.”

Staring at her silhouette in the dark, the questions returned to me.

Does Alex know I like girls?

Would it be possible for me and Ari to be more than friends?

Would she be interested in me in that way?

If so, how would I feel about it?

“You still awake?” It was more like a statement rather that a question thrown by Ari.

“How’d you know?”

“Your breathing is like…erratic. Not the usual slow ones when you’re asleep.” Her words barely a whisper.

“You’re tracking my breathing when I’m asleep? That’s creepy.” I smiled in the dark.

“No dumbass. Just sleep.”

Then she pulled me closer to her. I buried my face on her chest with the questions away.

I don’t care whatever the answers to the questions are as long as I have her to support me. I know that whatever happens, me and Ari will be alright. It was all the assurance I needed right now.

I fell asleep with a kiss on the forehead from Ari.

Third Person POV

“You got everything prepared for tomorrow?” Bree asked the dark-haired girl sitting beside her class.

“Uh huh, how’s you History project with Ari?” Alex countered.

“It’s halfway done; thank god we had started at least.” The younger girl breathes out.

“By the way, thank you for helping me getting the camping things.” She smiled at Bree.

It was Friday already and Alex and Mitchelle are supposed to go camping for the weekend while Breana and Maria work on their project. In reality, last night, Alex had already packed the things she’s bringing in the pickup truck she rented for the travel, considering her Aston Martin nor her Ducati motorbike is inappropriate to use. She even worked extra few hours in her two part time jobs so she could be out that weekend.

“So, Alex and you are going together this weekend huh?” Ari asked her seatmate, not noticing Sunny was actually staring at the air and not on the teacher.

When the older girl did not respond, she had to repeat the question.

“Uhh…yeah. I remember.” She confusedly answered for a second before going back to listening to what the teacher was saying.

Ari was left wondering what the other might be thinking. Sunny didn’t sound enthusiastic at the confirmation of her agreeing to the camping idea of Alex. The younger girl looked at the back of their room towards where Alex and Bree are sitting. They seem to be talking.

She doesn’t know if she’s supposed to tell Alex about Sunny’s passiveness. Then her gaze met with Bree’s. Ari transmitted a look of distress to the older girl. The other nodded in understanding and messaged her.

BreeButterHoneyPuppy: everything ok?

QueenNala: Idk

BreeButterHoneyPuppy: …

QueenNala: What if she backs out?

BreeButterHoneyPuppy: who?

QueenNala: Sunny…

BreeButterHoneyPuppy: Alex said Sunny agreed to it

QueenNala: yeah but she doesn’t seem pumped up at the idea

QueenNala: camping is stupid, Alex is an idiot

BreeButterHoneyPuppy: She’s brokenhearted, of course she’s not that ‘happy’ happy and smiley all the time and that’s the purpose of them having the camping

BreeButterHoneyPuppy: I’d say you’re shitting Alex again if I didn’t know any better but I know you are just worried as I am for them

QueenNala: Shush, I don’t care about her ugly ass

BreeButterHoneyPuppy: Are you jealous of her again?

QueenNala: Of her ass? No. I got perfect rounded ones and thick thighs

BreeButterHoneyPuppy: Oh yeah? - ___ -

QueenNala: Yeah, thick thighs save lives or I can just choke you w/ it if you won’t shut up

BreeButterHoneyPuppy: What are you even suggesting? ~

QueenNala: Exactly what I said

BreeButterHoneyPuppy: You’re bad

Bree actually thought the opposite. She clearly understood that Ari was just worried on how Alex would take it if Sunny would back out especially that they both could sense the excitement from the dark-haired girl.

And she obviously noted Ari’s flirty remarks, not that the girl hasn’t been doing it ever since but she is starting to get affected by it now. Bree doesn’t know if it’s for good or bad.

It seems like they’re match-making the two if only Sunny is emotionally available at the moment. This added to the questions that were piling in her mind.

How would she feel if Alex end up with Sunny?

Alex looks to be taken a liking with the older girl and she can’t deny that after observing them but the other seems elusive in the talks of her break up and consequently as well as in the possibility of a new relationship any time soon.
