The Villain's Mask Fallen

“Maybe that was why I adored horror movies and true crime. I identified with the villain, the foe, the outsider. I was always the person who didn’t belong.”

― Kayla Krantz, What I did.

"What started off as minor attacks on undomesticated animals in the forest ended up taking the life of the most important man in town, the Mayor himself. A few hours ago, an unforeseen release of cyanide fumes somehow made its way into the Mayor's bedroom and suffocated him to death without seeping into any other room in the Armstrong house. The mother and the son thankfully, are unaffected. Is this a miracle or one of the many enigmas of this town with secrets? Stay tuned till next week to know, only on Vanifernum Untold."

The live telecast I thought, must have been terrifying for the whole town not because the Mayor died, but because it could have happened to anyone else. Elwyn and I were the only people who knew that someone was behind this and we didn't know yet if he was their main target.
