Janus

All Janus’s life he had been building walls. He thought he had been saving himself but it turns out that he was just stalling. He was scared that people were going to tear down the only life he knew. And they did. But this time he had no preparation. It all happened so quickly. And it all started with Titania.

He should be mad. He should be jealous. But he’s not. He can’t. She’s his sister that he loves and cherishes. Janus would do anything for her. From the moment that ULTRASONIC took her to now, he has always been wanting to find her.

Janus opened his eyes. He immediately knew something was wrong. He wasn't underwater and he was still surrounded by the darkness. The water flowed around his feet stopping at his ankles and pushing against his heels. What happened? Mica wouldn’t lie to me. Panicking, he started to run. He didn’t know where he was going or what was happening. It was like something was pulling him, forcing him to push his body forward. Janus was running with the current. Then, there came an end. But not an end to his running. There was an end to the water. It was heading down. Janus told himself to stop but the urge was straining against him as he lost control. Bracing himself, he jumped. His eyes closed as he felt the water around him. There was no impact. Janus felt red, hot light on his eyelids as he tilted his head up. Finally, he regained control and swam toward the light on instinct. It felt like he was being released from someone’s strong grasp.

Suddenly, he broke the surface. Gasping, Janus opened his eyes and paddled his way to land. The sunlight blinded him as he flopped onto the dirt, his entire body drenched. It took him around 5 minutes to recover and look around. Even trying to stand up was a struggle. Janus cried out as all the muscles in his body softened and his legs gave out under him. He crashed onto the dirt, rolling over and facing the water. There was a river.

“Janus?” A voice called that sounded like a woman. Her voice was soft and soothing but there was no hiding the surprise and shock that came with it. She seemed very hesitant and unsure. “Honey, come here! It’s him!” she yelled as more footsteps came running over.

“Who?” Another voice said. This time it was a man’s voice, rich and low. Even though he only said one word, he recognised the slight southern twang that came with it. No matter how sore or hurt he was, he immediately rolled over. The man looked a little different than the picture that Janus had made in his head, but there was no doubt that he had the right person.

“Dad?”
