It was a bright and early morning.--Isoken woke up on time, she took her bath and got dressed before heading to the dining room.

After she was done eating, she went back to her room. She took care of the few things left to-do, then moisturised and brushed her hair.

Because school was just resuming, they had two weeks of grace to carry any hairstyle they wanted to school. Be it braids or cornrows with extensions, hair extensions, weave-on or rugged haircut, etc.

What Isoken had on was big box braids. Although they were looking a little rough, after moisturising and brushing them, they looked a lot better and neat as well.

She doesn't normally do this, but it's the first day of resumption and she wanted to look good. Emmanuel never paid attention to her before, so she thought, but he might just notice her.

She rounded up things then grabbed her bag and headed downstairs, she walked towards the car and sat in it as she waited for her mom.

A few minutes later, her mom came out and drove her to school.

...

She got to class and settled down, but couldn't sit still.

She was at school early and few people were around. She met some classmates and greeted them with the old saying of "long time no see."

Some people weren't in her line of sight, even after searching for minutes, Like Emmanuel. He said he would be here early, but she hadn't seen him since she stepped foot into the school compound.

She went to his class, but couldn't find him or Lola. She turned around and left; she had just walked a few steps down the hallway, with her head facing the ground as she walked, when she bumped into someone.

She lifts her head to apologize, only to see Emmanuel.

Her face lit up instantly, "It's you."

"It's me." He said then smiled.

"You said you would come to school early, I've been looking all over for you." Isoken murmured.

"I did come early. I have been stuck in the staffroom since I came." He said, then she nodded.

They fell quiet, and with each of them not saying a word, they just looked at one another.

She wanted to hug him, but was afraid to do so. They just became close friends and she wasn't sure if it would be appropriate to hug him. Plus, it would be weird if she initiated it and he rejected her.

The hug would even come off as un–natural, and she was trying to avoid a weird atmosphere between them, weirder than it already is.

...

She went back to her classroom sulking, as she didn't get to hug him.

Lola, Sonia and Dami finally arrived at school and visited her classroom, they hugged and that lifted her mood.

They updated each other a little bit about their holiday adventures before bidding goodbye. They had to return to their respective classrooms, since classes were going to start soon.

A small number of teachers showed up and gave their subject's syllabus for the term, with a very brief explanation of the first topic, since everyone was not present in school.

It was break time and people were ready to mingle, because it was the first day of resumption, everyone wanted to catch up with their friends. Everyone rushed out of their classrooms to different locations in the school compound.

She went to Emmanuel's class, greeted him and walked towards Lola. The girls agreed that they were going to go to science class, which was Sonia and Dami's class.

They went to the store first and bought what everyone would eat. They got to science class and settled down before they began to chatter.
